[Audio] Funkabit’s new single

Funkabit

After some time away, Italian Housemeister Funkabit returns this week with a brand new single on Mozzarella Recordings. Featuring one of the dance music featuring singers of the moment Eva Esther, Teenage Magic is a strong comeback single, loaded with Chicago House references and a modern twist.

Eva Esther vocals flow over Teenage Magic like water, as the track combines a deep warehouse vibe with some breezy Tropical percussion. Instantly catchy, the track has both a vocal and a hook that will be stuck in your head all day which, when coupled with deep, compelling basslines and warm chords, deliver a smokey, late night, vibe that’s ready for the dancefloor.

[Audio] Mitch Murder’s ‘High Performance’

Mitch Murder

Why not end your week with a new one from Mitch Murder. Mitch is currently working on taking his 80s soundtrack inspired FM funk live, so every time he releases a new tune we can’t help but imagine it in a live situation. With that in mind, there’s no way High Performance wouldn’t get you moving.

This time around Mitch is using his FM bassline skills to their fullest, delivering something that’s as emotionally rich as his usual OST work but with a dancefloor fuelled slap-esque bassline. High Performance takes it’s time to rasp up. Kicking off with a steady Funk groove, before easing into smooth night time Soul and then finally launching into the finest retro Pop where frantic arpeggios play against warm 80s R&B flavours. We cannot wait to check out Mitch Murder live.

[MP3] Wolf Saga covers Frank Ocean

wolf-saga_thumb

Canadian synth head Wolf Saga is definitely becoming a big blip on our radar. He caught out eye (or is that ear?) last month with his track Reign At Night, a rapturous synthesizer opus. In-between producing wondrous original tunes Wolf Saga has indulged his love of recording cover versions with this new tune, as he performs Frank Ocean’s Thinkin’ ‘Bout You.

Wolf Saga, once again, treats us to waves of rich synths tempered with an R&B flavour. There’s something about the sound pallet Wolf Saga uses, the tones of his sounds, that is just pleasing to the ear. On Thinkin’ ‘Bout You he uses them to the fullest, blending them with his understated voice to create something laid back and shimmering. Pure blissful vibes here.

[MP3] Pony Pony Run Run reMix Futurecop!

futurecop_thumb

Wow, we haven’t heard from Pony Pony Run Run in quite some time, which is a shame, ;’cos they were (are) awesome. But they appear to be back in the saddle as this reMix of  Futurecop! and Kristine’s Superheroes has appeared. Hopefully this means a return to business for the Indie-Electro three piece.

Pony Pony Run Run’s reMix of Superheroes is a grinding slice of dancefloor ElectroPop. With a bouncy but growling bassline that is tempered by bright leads and Kristine’s emotional vocal, the track plays to both the dancefloor and the headphones. Bringing a House flavour to the track, Pony Pony Run Run show that they’ve lost none of their flair in their time away, combining French Electro with Futurecop!’s nostalgic SynthWave to deliver something entirely new.

[Audio] Classixx & Nancy Whang

The second single to be taken from their forthcoming, and amazing, début album, Hanging Gardens Classixx is the emotional rush of All Your Waiting For. Following on from  Holding On/Boarderline, All Your Waiting For features the vocals of DFA’s Nancy Whang and delivers classic breezy Disco beats.

Sunshine, west coast, poolside Nu-Disco vibes exude from every second of this track. Despite Whang’s bittersweet song, the mood of the track is kept laid-back with warm synths, a tow-tapping beat and starlight leads. With a wobbly Disco bassline, to inject the track with a little quirkiness, All Your Waiting For serves all your nostalgic Disco needs, whether that’s for the 80s, or for 2007. Broad spectrum nostalgia, that’s what All Your Waiting For delivers.

Earlier this month we has a listen to the MiGHty mOUse reMix of the new single from Keljet featuring X Ambassadors. Now with a release date of the start of next month, via On The Fruit Records, it’s time to get our ears around the original version of the track, Love Of A Life.

Be prepared, because Love Of A Life is a huge slice of Tropical ElectroPop that’s so upbeat and energetic it’ll likely catch you off-guard. The Dutch Disco duo have whipped up one of the biggest sounding singles of the year so far. Loaded with pounding drums, a buzzsaw bassline and layers of floaty, almost Trance, leads, all topped off with some Balearic percussion and an anthemic vocal. This is a large sweeping track that is sure to take certain clubs by storm this summer.

[Audio] Kid Machine’s new EP

kid-machine_thumb

Manchester’s finest Italo export and one of the driving forces of the modern Italo scene Kid Machine is gearing up for the release of his next 12”. Looking forward toward a packed EP released through Red Laser Records, Kid Machine is promising to deliver some top quality Sci-fi Italo with these two sneak peak tracks, Hyperion and Il Militante.

Up first is Hyperion, which is as epic a track as the title suggests. Coming in just short of nine minutes, Hyperion uses it’s length wisely, sucking you in to it’s galactic soundscape and carrying you along with it on it’s retro future Disco odyssey. With a solid grounding in pounding machine beats and the phatest Italo bassline you’ll hear in a while, Hyperion has a solid core on top of which it can dance and swirl, crafting optimistic and mysterious synthetic moods. After the space age fantasy of Hyperion, Il Militante brings us slightly back down to earth with an urban electronic feel. A vintage dystopian soundtrack for a neon soaked city, the analog beats for footsteps, the sparking arpeggios for rain. We’re definitely looking forward to checking out what the rest of Kid Machine’s EP holds.

[Audio] Patrick Baker’s ‘Slip Away’

patrick-baker_thumb

Another day, another post about Patrick Baker. Anytime this guy want to take a holiday is fine, he must be knackered. Having seen out the end of last year with his Televisor and Hot Hot Hawk collaborations, so far 2013 has seen a single and a new track from the man himself and his vocals leant to tracks from 5 Reasons and Silent Gloves and now he;s bringing it back with another new single, Slip Away.

Bringing it back to the ElectroPop after his excursion on New Jack Swing, Patrick once again show us why no-one does 80s American Pop music quite like him. With a Breakin’ beat and punchy synths this track announces itself from the first bar. Add a sprinkling of Pop guitar and Patricks epic Pop voice and you have another catchy slice of nostalgia from the man out of time. reMixes come from DigitalNativeDance and this opus from French SynthWaver Tommy. Tommy bring it energetic and upbeat, with phasing drums and a driving arpeggiated bassline, in case you felt like bringing it to the dancefloor. Top stuff!
