[Audio] Mitch Murder reMixes Gossip Culture’s ‘Waiting’

This tune is pure bliss. A last month we previewed Estate’s reMix of the new single from LA ChillPopster Gossip Culture. The Quincy McCrary featuring Waiting was released in August, but now there’s a brand spanking new reMix from none other than SynthWave deity Mitch Murder. And, yes, it is as good as you’d think.

We do love to hear a Mitch Murder track with vocals, it’s a rare thing, but when it happens it’s always something special. Right here Mitch uses McCrary’s soulful voice to paint a Synth Funk masterpiece. Carried along on a wave of bouncy digital bass and lush soundtrack-esque pads, the reMix sees Mr. Murder dabbling in all the elements of electronic Soul from the 80s that made it so recognisable, and makes them his own. Perfect retro smooth Electro.

What’s better than a new single from London bass slapper DiscoSocks? A free single from London bass slapper DiscoSocks, that’s what. Courtesy of the fine folk at Heavy Disco, here’s the double A-side of I’ll Be Getting Down and Goldman Sax, two tracks that are set to put you in a weekend anticipating mood.

If I’ll Be Getting Down was a movie it would be a blockbuster, a summer crowd pleaser, loaded with explosions and effects laden set-pieces, but it’s not, it’s a slammin;’ Disco tune that sees DiscoSocks pulling all the tricks out of his bag and loading them into one track. Frantic purcussion, diva vocal snatches, big stings, vinyl scratches and, of course, DiscoSocks magic fingers blurring over the fretboard of a bass. It’s four minutes of power Disco goodness backed with a more Disco-House leaning affair titled Goldman Sax. [Audio] Biernaski & Novika’s ‘Give Away’

Here’s a slice of quirky ElectroPop from Poland courtesy of On The Fruit Records. It comes from Biernaski with an analog Pop style and features vocals from fellow Pole and featuring artist on a few cool released recently Novika. There’s a free reMix of the single you can grab here, while we check out the single itself.

Give Away has on obvious Disco influence, but never touched on that genre, more this is a proper vintage SynthPop tune with a nice self-identity. It;s made unique partly through Biernaski’s idiosyncratic, playful synths, partly though Novika’s distinctive Eastern European drawl. It;s catchy and upbeat with a little Italo groove int here, a solid début. The B-side, Danse Avec Moi, has more of a laidback, poolside funk to it. A nice piano hook and some gentle guitars play around this Italo-Disco groove, with subtly vocoding and hushed vocals. Laid back analog goodness.

The whole night drive theme of the clip seems particularly fitting for the track, giving the song a whole new, but apt, meaning.

We dropped the video for London’s premier ElectroPop duo JBAG’s Mogadisco a few months ago, well this week the single finally saw it’s release. It’s now available to but in all it’s urban Tropical glory and the single package comes loaded with reMixes from the likes of Fare Soldi, Pharo Black Magic and Eliot. Thanks to Continental Records, the original version of the tune is right here as a free download.

Mogadisco is a popping, carefree slice of instrumental DiscoPop. With a solid House beat behind it and heaps of Tropical purcussion, Mogadisco conjures up a mood of late night good times, good friends and good weather. Of those times when your in the middle of a sweaty dancefloor and nothing else matters. Hint’s of retro stylings in it’s B-boy breakdown and grumbling synths give the track a little twist, but really, it;s all about that euphoric lead line. The picks of the reMixes has to go to Pharo Black Magic, who deliver a deep Disco rendition of the track with an infectious bass and an almighty breakdown and Eliot’s Tropical Euromix in all it’s early 90s glory. This is a collection that deserves a place in your crate.

[Audio] Queen Of Hearts’ ‘United’

United is the B-side to the awesome Queen Of Hearts’ new single, Secret. Released at the weekend, the wonderful lead track is backed up by this slab of timeless SynthPop that was put together by our friend, and electronic music legend, Mark Reeder. With Reeder’s pedigree you know what you’re getting, the wealth of over three decades working with electronic music, which when added to Queen Of Hearts’ freshness always makes for something special.

Mark Reeder’s got a pretty good lock on classic SynthPop, and with United, we have a little Depeche Mode, a little Alphaville, all wrapped up with a little Berlin Techno. The perfect counterpoint to Queen Of Hearts melancholic, but intensely human vocals. It’s a track that sits very much on the German end of the SynthPop spectrum, even bordering on Modern SynthPop at times and kept elevated by both Mark’s waves of euphoric synths and the Queen’s passionate delivery. The single is out now. Get involved.

[Video] Sébastien Tellier’s ‘L’Amour Naissant’

Well this is a nice surprise. So soon after last years My God Is Blue album, French ElectroPop wizard Sébastien Tellier returns with news of a forthcoming new album, Confection, and it’s lead single, L’Amour Naissant. The soundtrack to an imaginary film. Check out the video.

Jean-Baptiste Mondino directed the clip, which stars starring Anna Mouglalis and Clément Chabernaud, is suitably stylish and cinematic.

[MP3] You Love Her Coz She’s Dead’s ‘Be Brave’

It’s been a rough couple of years for Brighton based ElectroPunks You Love Her Coz She’s Dead culminating in the departure of singer Elle. Now, complete with new vocalist Poppy, the duo are set to release their first single in two years. There’s a lot riding on this release, YLHCSD have to reassert themselves after a long absence and reassure that Poppy works as a Elle replacement. Thankfully Be Brave delivers on both those counts.

Be Brave is You Love Her Coz She’s Dead back and fighting fit. Big stomping, slightly euphoric, dance tracks with some over-excitable shouty vocals, all present and correct, and really, what more do you want from a YLHCSD track? Be Brave is, surprisingly (surprisingly because we weren’t sure what to expect with this comeback), one of You Love Her Cos She’s Dead strongest tracks to date. This is a huge return to the scene. And, yes, we still think they are better than Crystal Castles.

[Audio] Disclosure & London Grammar’s ‘Help Me Lose My Mind’ reMixed by Paul Woolford

UK Producer of the moment Paul Woolford has turned in this glorious head nodding reMix of Disclosure’s London Grammar featuring Help Me Lose My Mind. A reMix so good it’s getting it’s own release alongside a Dub version int he coming weeks. What happens when you mix up Disclosure’s UK Deep House with an infectious old school piano hook? Dancefloor insanity, that’s what!

Snappy beats dominate the track, part Chicago, part Garage, the pop away in the background laying the foundations for layers of spacious synths. Take the piano and bass away from Woolford’s mix of Help Me Lose My Mind and it’s quite a floaty, dreamlike tune, but that razor sharp bassline and rolling, infectious, House piano keep the track constantly in sharp focus. Hannah Reid ethereal vocals are just the icing on the cake.
