Alex Gopher & DJ Falcon

Alex Gopher

French legend Alex Gopher released his new single, Hello Inc. , featuring Parisian vocalist Saint-Michel, earlier this month. It’s a truly beautiful single we’re going pretty crazy for here. It’s a slice of French tinged electronic bliss which has right here been given a bit of a groove-up by the equally legendary DJ Falcon.

Falcon does the seemingly impossible with his ix. He injects the track with a more than healthy does of Disco, a solid groove, but keeps the hauntingly ethereal qualities of the track intact. The pulsing synth bass and swinging beat do their dancefloor jobs perfectly, but don;t take away from the ringing lead, with an almost Balearic tone it to, and the introspective vocals. Whether on a packed floor, or on your headphones, this track is a killer.

Hello Inc. is out now, Alex Gopher’s new album is set for an early 2013 release.

Goldroom reMixes Atlas Genius

Atlas Genius

Australian Indie-Rockers Atlas Genius came to our attention earlier this year when their Trojans single boated some sweet reMixes from Lenno and Fred Falke. Well these boys are still on their continuing mission to prove to the world they really know how to pick the best reMix talent, as their new single is given a blissful workout by Mr. Josh Legg, doing his Goldroom thing and bringing sunshine to everyone in the world.

The new single, Back Seat, is given a lush summertime gloss at Goldroom’s hands. Using bell-like electric piano against a more sharp House piano riff leads to an almost steel drum effect in the track, a breezy beach groove that keeps the Yacht feel of Goldroom’s tunes but ups the tempo a little for a track that would work perfectly for peak time at a  pool party. Washed with feel good vibes Goldroom layers the track with numerous complex elements that build and build toward the track’s finale, which leaves you with a haunting melody ringing in your ears.

Oliver X Aeroplane

Aeroplane

Well, it’s finally here. The long awaited reMix of Aeroplane’s We Can’t Fly, by LA Oliver duo Oliver. the fact that they’ve waited so long to release this much sought after track, even if they were saving it for Eskimo Records’ Eskimonde compilation, is quite bizarre, and probably harmed the track in terms of visibility. It’s easily worth the wait, but a bit disappointing that what could have been one of the tunes of the summer (summer 2010 that is) has been kinda’ wasted.

But, like we said, it was worth the wait. Thanks in majority to Oliver. The duo of Oliver ‘Oligee’ Goldstein and Vaughn ‘U-Tern’ Oliver have always been at the top of their game. Even two years ago they were producing slicker Dreamwave tinged Disco tunes than almost everybody else, and this reMix just proves it. It revolves around the vocals and this huge Funk synth riff that you just can’t help but nod your head too. It’s pure good times Disco with their trademark relaxing LA vibe. It’s a majestic track, that’s practically a dancefloor religious experience. Oh, and a little cowbell never hurt anyone.

♫ Aeroplane – We Can’t Fly (Oliver reMix)

Oliver’s reMix of Aeroplane’s We Can’t Fly will feature on Eskimo Records’ tenth anniversary box-set, Eskimonde – A Decade Of Eskimo Recordings, which drops 31st October.

Starcadian reMixes SLDGHMR

Starcadian

Good news everyone! New York’s best kept secret, Starcadian, is back with a brand new reMix. Easily rating as one of our favourite discoveries of the year, this Brooklyn resident has pretty much blown us away with all his tunes this year. This latest track is a reMix of Miami producers SLDGHMR’s collaboration with La Falix, Deviate.

Whist the original had some great moments, let down by a couple of uninspired  Electro-music-by-numbers moments, Starcadian whips the track up into a absolute monster tune. Neatly combining his talents in huge, cinematic, highly musical, Disco-House and storming, cut-up Electro, Starcadian produces something that is as infectiously energetic and the most fist-pumping of hard Electro, but as smooth as the most Tropical beach party Disco and as emotionally resonant as the most orchestrated SynthWave song. Washing the vocals in vocoder give the refrain a more melodic quality, which is used, amongst other lead lines, to temper the chainsaw Electro synths and frantic slap bass. I don’t think there is a single producer out there who can mix up juggernaut Electro with melodic Pop quite like Starcadian, and if their is they aren’t as good.

beaumont’s ‘Vampire’ reMixes

beaumont

Well, this came as a bit of surprise. After months and months holed up with canned food and an impressive arsenal of firearms (we imagine), our boy beaumont has finally poked his head above ground just long enough to throw a couple of musical grenades our way. It seems that whist in self imposed exile he’s actually been getting his groove on with New York based singer Elle Pierre for what sound like it;s going to be a massive single.

It’s called Vampire, and right now we have reMixes from England’s finest Clancy and Detroit rocker BeatLoaf. Clancy delivers a slick-as-hell House tune. Everything about Clancy’s version is really warm and enveloping. Rich bass and subtle organ give this mix it’s base leaving loads of room for the Italo-esque arpeggios and the breezy piano hook. With a contemporary Disco production, but a nostalgic mid-9-0s House vibe, Clancy’s mix is a dream in the headphones. BeatLoaf keeps the original’s vocals more intact and works the track into a smooth dance track with an R&B flavour.  What starts off with a grinding urban beat ends up a sweeping House track before dropping back into something more ecclectic. This has definitely whetted out appetites for new material from beaumont.

GMGN & Dusty Digital

GMGN & Dusty Digital

Today Mozzarella Recordings drop their fifty-first (that’s right, fifty-first!) release. Passing fifty is quite a milestone for a label, so it’s nice to celebrate the occasion with something special scooping the catalogue number. MOZZ 051 comes courtesy of an artist we’ve been tracking for a while now, Dusty Digital, teaming up with GMGN for a a couple of deep SynthWave/House tracks and some killer reMixes.

The Starlite Paradise EP kicks off with two original tunes. Gotta’ Get Up opens the EP with a jump up House tune that immediately pushed the energy thought the roof. Revolving around a ringing Piano hook and a vocal sample repeated until it’s hypnotic, Gotta’ Get Up has all the trappings of a classic House tune. the EPs title track, Starlite Paradise, starts to push things into an almost Trancey arena, it may have a Disco-House groove, but much of this tune is pure Euphoric Trance. Dutch master Auxiliary Tha Masterfader provides a reMix of this tune. A sweeping SynthWave tune with hints of early Kavinsky and loads of lush vintage synth sounds. Gotta’ Get Up is tackled by ODahl who really brings the deep house flavour to the EP with stabbing synths an a low, square, House bassline which works perfectly with the diva vocal sample. Elsewhere on the EP you’ll find an alternate mix from Aux and Gotta’ Get Up as reMixed by Richard & Morris. A fine EP indeed.

Earl Grey reMixes Sohight

sohight_thumb

Russian Disco master Sohight’s On The Fruit Records single Fonk is release this week, and whist we’ve been really digging the track, we’ve also been keen to hear the Earl Grey reMix, so now we can. Earl Grey is, of course, Danny Ashenden, better know as one half of The C90s, here with his third solo track. It doesn’t disappoint.

Ashenden delivers a squelchy, vintage Disco track. Equal parts Cosmic and Deep, the track rides on a low-down, but bouncy, synth bass, slightly Italo in it’s pattern, which weaves in an out of spacey stabs and echoes, snatches of the vocal and big lush strings. The reMix even keeps some of the scratching from he original in there, but echoes them out to almost Dub-like effect. All this Disco business is topped off with a twisted lead line that is so infectious you won’t be able to resist it. It’s a great start for Earl Grey, definitely a name to keep an eye, or ear,  on.
