The new single from Chillwave superstar Toro Y Moi is Never Matter, another cut taken from his excellent album, Anything In Return.

Constantly changing your name has got to play havoc with your SEO. Just ask Say Lou Lou, we’d just got used to not calling them Saint Lou Lou and sticking with SLL when they become Say Lou Lou, although to be fair, their previous label, Kitsuné Music have done a fair job of scrubbing the old name from existence. When we say the Australian/Swedish girls live a month or so ago they seemed confused themselves as to what they were called. At that show they played a track which we though would be perfect single material. that song was Julian, their new single. Pop points for us!
Julian is even better on record, than it is live, when you can hear the nuances of the track. Which is a good thing as Julian is pretty subtle, it’s a gorgeous, warm, slice of DreamPop, bathed in layers in intricate synths and the girls comforting vocals. Even more exciting is that the single package will come equipped with reMixes from Martin Dubka, Monsieur Adi. We can’t wait for those.

Brighton ElectroPop duo Curxes are spreading their wings even further with their new single, Further Still. Delivering something a little more ethereal this time, an antithesis to their last releases, the relentless Industrial pounding of Haunted Gold and the Post-Punk anthem Spectre. Further Still is a track that demands repeated listening, it’s a track to soak up.
Driven by Roberta’s haunting vocal, Further Still is a slow builder. Taking it’s time to make sure you have fully absorbed each passage before giving you something new. I can’t help but be reminded of Tori Amos in parts of Further Still (good Tori Amos that is, not I-can’t-be-bothered-anymore Tori Amos, when she still wrote interesting, challenging songs), Roberta doesn’t sound like her, but there is a certain inflection in her voice that takes a similar tone. Add to this some majestic, dramatic electronic music, juxtapositioning dreamlike chimes with grinding machine bass and you’ve got a tune that feels like being taken on a journey. The single is out now, with reMixes to follow, including one from the awesome Avec Sans.

Turn To Sand is the second single from new Norwegian ElectroPop trio Musique Le Pop. Chris, Betty and Jon, have been friends for years, and regularly contributed to each others previous musical endeavours, but Musique Le Pop is the first time the three have worked together on, what is now, their main project. Following their acclaimed Time Changes single, Turn To Sand was released last week.
Turn To Sand definitely has one foot firmly planted in ScandiPop, with it’s clean production and shiny synth work, but the other appendage is flirting with classic British Pop, particularly in the DreamPop direction with a hint of Saint Etienne. Lovingly crafted from intertwining arpeggios and heart-warming pads it’s a assuaging ElectroPop track that hides it’s icy Norwegian roots well beneath comforting layers of thaw inducing tones. Betty’s passionate, slightly twee, vocal fits the track perfectly, making for gentle waves of personal SynthPop. Musique Le Pop look like one to keep an eye on.

As the re-release of the almighty The Postal Service’s 2003 masterpiece album, Give Up, draws ever close, we are treated to the second of the new, or at least previously unheard, tracks that will be featured on this deluxe 10th anniversary edition.
Turn Around is a cheery and sweet slice of ElectroPop and perfectly The Postal Service. Easily one of the more optimistic songs from this duo. Rolling on a kick heavy beat and layers of blippy snyths, the electronics lifts and drops the mood along with Gibbard’s vocals. It actually feels more The Postal Service than the previously heard new track, A Tattered Line Of String, although we slightly preferred that track to this one. Also, apologies for the crappy YouTube player, we’re not sure if Sub Pop still haven’t worked out this internet thing yet, but there you go.

We first featured Belgian Electro-Rockers Goose back in 2010. Now we have an excuse to again as fellow Belgian producer, and one of our favourite artists of recent years Moonlight Matters has reMixes their new single, Real.
Working with something other than your usual dance track has given Moonlight Matters free reign to try something a bit different. Anyone expecting Seba’s usual early 90s Pop-House anthem might be disappointed, but come to the track with an open mind and you’ll be delivered a satisfying, involving tune. A majestic slab of synthesizer Pop with a militaristic feel, it’s a reMix that commands your attention with trumpeting stabs and rolling beats that serve the call-to-arms vocals perfectly. Industrial Disco anyone?

We’re still rocking to Chicago ElectroPoppers Hey Champ new, and free, single, Comet. The BeuKes featuring tune is one of our favourite tracks of the year so far, well on it;s way to becoming an Indie-Electro anthem. Well, here’s the icing on the cake reining heavyweight champion of German Disco Justin Faust has worked his magic on the track, and everything’s gone dreamy.
Faust’s smooth synthetic Disco sounds are the prefect accompaniment for Hey Champ’s Comet. Loaded with Dreamwave sounds and an infectious groove. Playing off a simple, hypnotic, bassline against starlight, sparking lead lines, Faust creates a fittingly spacey mood that flows as effortlessly as the vocals.You could just listen to this mix and forget the rest of the world even exists.

Huddle is the new single from LA SynthPop duo Kisses, the second to be released from their forthcoming sophomore album, Kids In LA ( to be released on Cascine in the US, Splendour in the EU). The album’s been produced by Pete Wiggs from Saint Etienne and Tim Larcombe, who’s worked with the likes of Sugababes, and is set for release mid-May.
There a nice contrast, on Huddle, between smooth Californian SynthPop and B-Boy Beats that at times feels apart, sometimes together. Leaning on the strength of Kisses songwriting, rather than flashy production or big room beats, Huddle weaves a hazy, Dreamwave, mood of nostalgia while presenting it on the kind of rhythm that should have you headspinning on Lino. We’ve been lucky enough to have already been listening to Kisses’ The Hardest Part, and believe us, you’re in for a treat.

You know the best kind of Disco is going to happen when the kings of New York Disco The Knocks are reMixed by San Francisco’s beach party groovemeister Viceroy. The result is a blissful, incredibly Poppy,slice of good time summertime vibes.
Did we mention how Poppy this was? Because it really is, melding the most fun elements of Nu-Disco with a particularly American blend of R&B tinged Pop, Viceroy and The Knocks whip up something of a poolside jam that doesn’t have a care in the world. With big beats and an almost Caribbean feel to it, this mix of Magic layers on the heavy, pumping, snyths thick which, when combined with Gary Go’s laid back, almost 80s, vocal makes for untroubled, breezy, four minutes of Disco escapism.
