[Audio] Rogue Vogue reMixes The Knocks & X Ambassadors’ ‘Comfortable’

the-knocks

New York DiscoPop duo The Knock’‘  collaboration, with fellow New Yorkian rising stars X Ambassadors, the blog destroying Comfortable, is about to become the subject of many a reMix. Getting in ahead of the pack is one of Chicago’s’ finest House exports, Rogue Vogue, who give the track an authentic 90s spin. Hold tight for the synth stabs!

Solid 909s from the offset, Rogue Vogue delivers his classic brand of House music on this reMix. Accentuated by the bounciest of basses and shimmering Sci-Fi keys, this reMix whips up a frenzy of strobe light vibes and an urban swing. Using the vocals relatively sparsely, Rogue Vogue unleashed another jam destined to pack dancefloors.

the-knocks

New York DiscoPop duo The Knocks are showing off more from their forthcoming Comfortable EP. This time it;s one of the back-up track, and one, in our opinion, should have possible been the lead tune on the release. It features the wonderful Sneaky Sound System, and it’s called The One. DiscoPop doesn’t really get much bigger than this.

The One has all the swagger of a Nu-Disco floorfiller and all the huge euphoria of a big room monster. This explosive combination of two worlds results in a huge, sassy dance track with a vintage Disco funk running underneath powerhouse chainsaw synths. Sneaky Sound System’s Connie belts her way through the track bringing the uplifting vibes and taking things to the next level. From what we’ve heard of the EP so far, this one’s the standout.

The Knocks

Comfortable is the new track from New York’s reigning DiscoPop duo The Knocks. Another collaboration, this one features fellow New Yorkian rising stars X Ambassadors (last seen on Keljet’s Love Of A Life) and continues The Knocks’ blissful laid back Disco oddessy. Sit back, relax, and get…well…comfortable.

The lead track from The Knocks  forthcoming new EP, Comfortable delivers the sunshine vibe in heaps. Rolling basslines and buzzing synths work together to create a head-nodding groove, loaded with city funk. The vocals supplied by X Ambassadors add to the urban rooftop party mood with chill verses and an anthemic chorus. It’s hard not to move to this one, so why bother resisting?

[Download] Final DJs reMix The Knocks And St. Lucia’s ‘Modern Hearts’

the-knocks

So, Germany’s Final DJs are a little late to the Modern Hearts party. By now everyone and their dog has reMixed the track and we may have said we weren’t going to write about any more reMixes. But we’ll just sneak this last version of The Knocks and St. Lucia’s masterpiece in here as a bit of Summer 2013 nostalgia. Enjoy.

Final DJs whip up a rollicking piano led Disco-House jam right here. Infusing the piano hook with wicked little Disco licks the duo keep things light, airy and synthy. The track’s breezy keys counterpointed with a rich and spongy bassline. It all works wonderfully with the vocals, making the track infectiously fun and headed straight for the dancefloor. Another fine piece of work from the Teutonic twosome.

[Audio] Monsieur Adi & A*M*E’s ‘What’s Going On?” reMixed by The Knocks

Monsieur Adi

The man like Monsieur Adi and his stunning break for mainstream attention, What’s Going On?, has finally got itself a release date, and the first sign of reMixes too. The A*M*E tune is already making huge waves and getting a serious amount of airplay, this one looks like it could propel Adi to superstardom, and well deserved too, we’ve said it numerous times, Adi is one of the most talented producers around. Check out what New York Disco duo The Knocks did to the track.

The Knocks give What’s Going On? a breezy House workout with a Disco groove. Revolving around a funkin’ bassline and hands-in-the-air piano hook, The Knocks’ reMix utilises A*M*E’s big vocals to their fullest, making the whole reMix sound huge. There’s nothing like a piano riff and diva vocals to get the party started. While you’re here, peep this version from Max Sanna And Steve Pitron, it’s a pretty standard club affair, not really bringing much originality to the table but I guess Sony, a major label, wanted to keep things safe to a certain degree. Who knows, you might dig it.

[MP3] Justin Faust reMixes The Knocks’ & Treasure Fingers’ ‘My Body’

The Knocks

If we’re absolutely honest, we found the collaboration between New York DiscoPop duo The Knocks and Atlanta floorfiller Treasure Fingers, two artists we really dig, a little disappointing. My Body just didn’t really do it for us, it felt like these two were trying to  do something, rather than just feeling it. Anyway, have no fear, Germany’s finest, Justin Faust, is here to save the day with this storming reMix.

After his awesome reMix of Night Drive’s Sea Of Light, Faust goes for a seriously pounding warehouse groove on this one, replete with shuffling hi-hats and utterly infectious 90s House hook. Faust build and build an a hypnotic tip, the kind of thing perfectly suited to long nights under the strobe light, preferable in a disused building somewhere, lost in music. A definite improvement over the original, when the beat kick back in after the breakdown, you’ll be grinning like a loon.

[Audio] digitalfoxglove reMixes The Knocks & St. Lucia’s ‘Modern Hearts’

the knocks

digitalfoxglove tunes. Like busses, if you’ll excuse the cliché. You wait for ages for one then two come along at once. Pulling up to the rear of yesterday’s Daytona comes DFG’s ReDub of The Knocks and St. Lucia’s awesome recent single Modern Hearts. Take your Disco hat off though, this one is going to get deep.

Italo Dub, if you will (and we do!), this reMix get under your skin with a relentless hypnotic groove. Quite Techno in places, the synthetic arpeggios and machine drums pounding out a mid-paced rhythm create an unwavering core for the track. Heavily modulated snatches of the original’s vocal float in and out of the track alongside Dub-like effects bringing a slightly unsettling vibe to the track. It’s no-less compellingly funky though.

The Knocks

We’ve been looking forward to hearing this one ever since we first heard rumbles that New York Disco duo The Knocks were doing a track with one of our favourite ElectroPop artists St. Lucia. The result, The Knocks new single, Modern Hearts, is released later this month. Which, after a few listens is far too long to wait, it’s one of the jump-up DiscoPop tracks of the year.

Modern Hearts is a track that give you a rush. Combining the best of summery Disco sounds with a superbly written Pop anthem. A stomping beat pins the track down, giving free rein to thick synth stabs and playful arpeggios to ride a rolling bassline. Alongside St. Lucia’s soaring vocal, it all makes up one of those tracks that just makes you smile, you can’t help it, which is what makes it the perfect track for drinking and dancing in the sun. This one’s being added to our festival season playlist.
