[Audio] Strangeheart’s ‘How To Feel Right’

The steady advance of ex-Young Digerati-ers Strangeheart toward the release of their début EP ploughs ever onward. The few tracks that have trickled out so far have really impressed, as does this new tune, How To Feel Right. The prefect blend of Indie Electro and LA Dreamwave, How To Feel Right has got that Young Digerati anthemic quality but injects a little West Coast Disco into the mix.

Decked out with buzzing synth stabs and a burbling arpeggiated bassline, How To Feel Right wears it’s influences on it’s sleeve, with the vocals being part summery Indie and part 80s Pop hit, and the music being pure retro synth goodness. At times the track dips into Electric Soul before sweeping back into the Dreamwave arenas. Every track we’ve heard from Strangeheart so far has had us looking forward to their first proper release, and How To Feel Right just makes us even more eager to hear it.

[Download] Goldroom’s ‘Embrace’ reMixed by Awkoder

With so many reMixes of Goldroom’s excellent Embrace knocking about these days it’s pretty hard to make your stand out from the crowd. The best way to do this, we have realised from listening to dozens, it to truly make the song your own, you’re not going to out-chilled-Disco Goldroom so don’t bother, to make it different and unique. And that’s exactly what French SynthWaver Awkoder has done.

I’m not sure we can even call Awkoder a SynthWaver anymore, especially after this proto-Rave, slightly Deep House track. You can tell Awkoder comes from a retro background, there’s a whole heap of late 80s dance tropes going on, the melodic synth stabs really make the track, Pair them up with a deep digital bassline and a warehouse beat and you’ve got a new direction for Embrace. The reMix is loaded with vocal modulation too, making the original unrecognisable at times, how’s that for making it your own?

You’ve probably already picked up Dreamwave mac-daddy Goldroom’s latest release, the Embrace EP, haven’t you? .If not then why? Why would you make such a terrible life choice? Anyway, if you’ve picked up Embrace you’ll already be familiar with Adalita. If you haven’t *shudder* then Goldroom has been generous enough to give away this new EP track for free when signing up to his mailing list. So right now you have three tasks ahead of you. Adalita was co-written, and features, Aussie songstress of the moment, and recent Kitsuné signee Chela. The tune is both chilled and playful. Smooth beats and nostalgic, buzzing synth stabs conjure up a lazy, poolside, vibe which is complimented by Chella’s whimsical vocals, in place to keep things upbeat. Other than Embrace, Adalita with the other new tune on the final release of the EP, and it’s still as exciting to us now as it was last month when it was released. Also, as an outlet that writes about Goldroom a fair bit, we can say with some authority that it’s impossible to find a photo of Josh where he’s not looking dead cheeky, like he’s just been caught doing something he shouldn’t be.

[Download] Goldroom’s ‘Embrace’ reMixed by Freak You

It’s fair to say that in the last week or so our inbox has been pretty inundated with reMixes of Goldroom’s excellent Embrace. We kinda’ expected it when Goldroom sent the stems free into the wild, we really haven’t got the time or the inclination to bring you all of them though. However, you really need to wrap your ears around this blissed out mix from On The Fruit Records own Freak You, it’ll make your Monday morning orders of magnitude better.

Freak You has delivered another of his classic dance music pieces. Free of genre or era, he whips up a timeless floorfiller with ingredients from House, Disco and Trance with a pinch of R&B. With an early 90s, golden age, feel to it, this reMix powers along, dividing it’s load between a grumbling bassline and an optimistic piano line. The deep club nature of the tune tends to lend Ariela Jacobs’ vocals a new, almost urban, flavour. Unlike a whole heap of the reMixes of Embrace that have landed on out virtual desk, Freak You’s reMix really does transform it into a brand new song.

[MP3] Robotaki’s ‘Raton Laveur’ & ‘It’s Still About You’

One of Canada’s unsung synthetic Disco talents, the awesome Robotaki has broken a long period of silence with a brand new double A-side single, Raton Laveur and It’s Still About You, for free. These are tracks that have been knocking around on Robotaki’s shelf for a while now, while we’ve been waiting for then to be released, and now they’re here they don;t disappoint, especially the Hey Champ featruing It’s Still About You.

It’s Still About You is Robo-Disco at it’s finest. Full of sparky snyths stabbing their way over bubbling arpeggiated basslines and a stomping beat. With just enough of a hint of retro to be cool, but still maintaining a contemporary feel, the track perfectly plays to Hey Champs’ strengths to deliver the best of machine groove and swinging Nu-Disco. Raton Laveur is more of a dreamy, electric piano fuelled, Disco tune that mixes up a laid back poolside vibe with some big room Elector elements to produce something that is both smooth and a high octane dancefloor monster. these are definitely two tracks you should be checking out.

One of the countries finest Disco and House labels, Cardiff’s Pole Position Recordings has reached the big five oh. No not in years, in releases. And to mark their fiftieth release they have put together a storming compilation of some of the last couple of years highlights. But that’s not all, the album also contains four exclusive, brand new tunes from Honom, Dato, Deep Sound Express.

Encompassing everything the label stands for, slick Disco tunes, good-time vibes and hazy, dream synths alongside some hypnotic Deep House tunes the album is jam packed. The collection really shows off what a mental couple of years Pole Position have had, going from a new start-up to one of the scene’s staples and a mark of quality on any release. [Audio] Mitch Murder’s ‘Killer Angels’

I think Sweedish SynthWave master Mitch Murder must literally live in his studio. To say the man is prolific would be an understatement. We don’t know how he does it, but unlike almost every high volume producer we can think of, Mitch Murder has never one let the quality of his productions slip, and never once lost his king-of-80s-retro-synth-music crown. There must be a point in which just pure raw talent comes to the fore, and Mr. Murder has that in truck-loads.

His new tune, Killer Angels, sees a the return of Mitch to Vince DiCola mode. Punchy digital bass and slammin’ drums pair up with those occasional synth slaps the starshine chords to create a kind of post-BladeRunner, but a bit more fun, mood. It;s futuristic, but optimistic. Exciting, fun and more than anything else, draws you into it’s music narrative. Makes us nostalgic for a movie that doesn’t exist.
