[Release] Kids At Midnight’s ‘Unashamed’ & ‘Vapours’

02 Kids At Midnight - Unashamed-Vapours (Single) - Cover

Here it is! The long awaited return of the finest name in Australian Deep ElectroPop; Kids At Midnight.

A singer/songwriter/producer whose reputation precedes her, Jane Elizabeth Hanley, A.K.A. Kids At Midnight, released her début EP, Let You Slide (back in 2012 via Alan Braxe’s Vulture Music label) to critical acclaim whilst simultaneously becoming the Nu-Disco scene’s voice-in-demand; featuring on Edwin Van Cleef’s massive cover of Phoenix’s Lisztomania and Ride The Universe’s A Little Better amongst many others.

Now Kids At Midnight is poised to unleash a brand new double A-side single. Two lush, emotive and rich tracks that blur the boundaries between Deep House, ElectroPop, Nu-Disco, and Indie-Electro. Unashamed and Vapours. If you like your dance music song based, epic and passionate then this release will be unmissable.

A selection of reMixes tune the tracks for every dancefloor with Holmes Price bringing a retro Boogie to Unashamed whilst So Serious (the Deep House alter ego of Phunktastike) give the track an enigmatic groove. Vapours is given a spacey Tropical Tech House workout by Daniel Högberg of Pacific! and a beach party Disco send off by LA’s Dreamwave originator Touch Tone.

[Download] Phunktastike reMixes Blondie’s ‘Rapture’

Blondie

We gotta’ say, this is pretty special. Argentina Nu-Disco bass-merchant Phunktastike has delivered this reMix of Blondie’s classic Rapture. It’s a track that’s been reMixes a few times recently, but Phunk’s take on the track is hands down the best we’ve heard to date as the man whips the track into 2014 dancefloor shape whist keeping true to the groove of the original. Dat bass!

Yup, this one’s all about that bassline. Deep and rumbling, the bass in this reMix is utterly intoxicating, drawing to into the smooth, floorfilling, vibe of the track. Debbie Harry’s vocals remain largely intact, including the rap (thank you Phunk!) and are now served up as an ethereal siren’s song over a Sci-Fi Disco, electronic soundscape. Brooding and moody, but with heaps of Funk, this is a retro-future boogie monster that is going to be on repeat ‘round here for a while.

Pole Position Recordings

One of the countries finest Disco and House labels, Cardiff’s Pole Position Recordings has reached the big five oh. No not in years, in releases. And to mark their fiftieth release they have put together a storming compilation of some of the last couple of years highlights. But that’s not all, the album also contains four exclusive, brand new tunes from Honom, Dato, Deep Sound Express.

Encompassing everything the label stands for, slick Disco tunes, good-time vibes and hazy, dream synths alongside some hypnotic Deep House tunes the album is jam packed. The collection really shows off what a mental couple of years Pole Position have had, going from a new start-up to one of the scene’s staples and a mark of quality on any release. Just look at the line-up that includes the likes of Black Magic Disco, ODahl, Deep Sound Express & Raha, Final DJs, Phunktastike and MiDiMAN as well as tones more tunes from Satin Jackets, Sixth Avenue Express, Arcadis and more. We wish Pole Position all the best heading toward their century of releases.

[Audio] Final DJs’ new single

final-djs_thumb_thumb

Moonshine, from Germany’s finest Final DJs, is a track of theirs from last year which is now getting a full release this week courtesy of Pole Position Recordings out of Cardiff. You’ve read all about the smooth synth funk of the original before, so lets peep our beady eyes on a couple of the awesome reMixes that come bundled with Moonshine.

First up is the Dutch king of the Analog groove, Auxiliary Tha Masterfader. Aux delivers one of his trademark phat bassed jams. Big squelchy synths and vintage Disco grooves drive the track along until Aux is just about ready to drop some twisting solos on us. Playing with the originals solos Aux conjures up new melodic rhythms. Phunktastike’s contribution to the single takes the track down a more Disco-tinged House route. It’s feel good summery vibes all the way with this one, drop in a little laid back vocodering Like an updated Dreamwave vibe, this track merges a west coast nostalgic groove with a little Chicago feel. The single also comes equipped with a third reMix from Cram, it’s a package well worth picking up for some sunshine, or moonshine, vibes.

[Audio] Silenx reMixes Phunktastike

Phunktastike

Mid-last year Argentinian producer Phunktastike delivered his excellent single, Love In The 80s. Now that track is getting a full-on reMix package courtesy of Logical Records and amongst the packed nine track release sits this gem from our friend Silenx. Once again Silenx brings something a little different to the table and washes it in Sci-Fi synths.

Occupying a similar post-Italo territory to the likes of Cinnamon Chasers, Silenx’s mix of Love In The 80s brings an Italo arrangement right up to date with slick production. This is one of Silenx’s best to date, and that’s saying something as the man has an impressive catalogue. It’s got a smooth retro feel, but with enough dancefloor kick to keep Disco lovers happy. Layers with rich, emotional, progressions the song really strikes a chord layering a resonant track with intricate melodies and leads. Beautiful space age noise.
