[MP3] Plastic Plates reMixes Para One

Para One

This isn’t on official reMix…it should be, but it isn’t. Plastic Plates, that LA centre of excellence, has really knocked it out of the park with his new mix. Having got hold of the vocals for Para One, Irfane & Teki Latex’s Every Little Thing (which was already an awesome tune) Felix apparently couldn’t resist the opportunity to add a little of his synthetic disco to the track.

Plastic Plates just has an ear for this stuff, perfectly balancing a laid back vibe with a solid dance groove he strips down the track and build it back up again out of his own robotic mirrorball pallet. Keeping the vocals intact (it’s an excellent song, why wouldn’t you?) Felix rocks the song in his own particular synthesizer Disco way. Easily the best of the reMixes, including the official package, of this track.

[MP3] Clancy’s ‘All Just In My Mind’

clancy_thumb_thumb

Premiering on The Magician’s Magic Tape 31 this month Clancy, All Just In My Mind is the latest n what seems like is becoming a monthly event. Which is pretty awesome, we’re starting to look forward to the end of the month when Clancy delivers the Deep House goods. Of course, now we’ve said that we’ve jinxed it. There’ll be no new track next month..or will there? No pressure Rich.

OK, hands up who remembers Clancy when he was the UK’s big Dreamwave hope? Now his transition to the dark side is complete (the dark side being slick Chicago House BTW). And we couldn’t be happier with the transition, Rich is a master at what he does and with All Just In My Mind he brings these two big fat and funky basslines that intertwine with each other to produce the most amazing, driving, groove, over which is laid a hypnotic vocal sample and a dreamlike breakdown. There’s not a sniff of Disco here, Clancy’s looking forward, not back.

[MP3] Justin Faust reMixes Hey Champ!

heychamp2013_thumb

We’re still rocking to Chicago ElectroPoppers Hey Champ new, and free, single, Comet. The BeuKes featuring tune is one of our favourite tracks of the year so far, well on it;s way to becoming an Indie-Electro anthem. Well, here’s the icing on the cake reining heavyweight champion of German Disco Justin Faust has worked his magic on the track, and everything’s gone dreamy.

Faust’s smooth synthetic Disco sounds are the prefect accompaniment for Hey Champ’s Comet. Loaded with Dreamwave sounds and an infectious groove. Playing off a simple, hypnotic, bassline against starlight, sparking lead lines, Faust creates a fittingly spacey mood that flows as effortlessly as the vocals. You could just listen to this mix and forget the rest of the world even exists.

[MP3] Patrick Baker’s ‘This Love (Higher)’

Patrick Baker

Not one to sit and musically procrastinate, Retro Pop superstar Patrick Baker is slowly edging out of the 80s, into the early 90s with his latest work, This Love (Higher). The beshaded one injects a little Swingbeat into his sound, rolling up with a deeply groovy slice of Electronic Soul.

I was going to attempt to write this article without using the phrase ‘New Jack Swing’, but I can’t, so there. This Love (Higher)’s pretty damn New Jack Swing, well on the way there at least, like a smoothed out, slightly SynthWave version of New Jack Swing. I’m now going to say ‘swing’ another couple of times, just so you know. This Love (Higher)’s got the swing bassline that it couples with some really silky late 80s R&B drums and Baker’s husky vocals resulting in a tune that will just flow out of your speaker like water. I said I’d say ‘swing’ twice, right? That was the other time. Excellent tune.

[MP3] Deluce’s ‘ Signs’

Deluce

No sooner does Parisian Elector-House producer Deluce jump back onto our radar, after four years, with a storming reMix of Pyramid’s The Frontier, and he’s back with a new track, Signs. Signs give us a better feel for what he;s been up to recently and where he’s going (Spoiler Alert: It’s to some pretty dark places).

Signs is a growling slab of Industrial-tinged Electro. Brutal in it’s execution and leaving very little respite from abrasive synth sounds throughout it’s length. Meticulously crafted, this tune feels like a labour or love, from it’s dirty, Acid Techno bass to it’s eerie melodies, and it’s distorted samples, everything feels honed to it’s sharpest edge. It’s a proper musical narrative too, weaving a story over it’s five minutes, even become a little optimistic toward the end and it’s digital sax finale. It;s a harsh track, but it’s supposed to be. It is, however, very very good.

[MP3] The Knocks reMixed by Viceroy

The Knocks

You know the best kind of Disco is going to happen when the kings of New York Disco The Knocks are reMixed by San Francisco’s beach party groovemeister Viceroy. The result is a blissful, incredibly Poppy, slice of good time summertime vibes.

Did we mention how Poppy this was? Because it really is, melding the most fun elements of Nu-Disco with a particularly American blend of R&B tinged Pop, Viceroy and The Knocks whip up something of a poolside jam that doesn’t have a care in the world. With big beats and an almost Caribbean feel to it, this mix of Magic layers on the heavy, pumping, snyths thick which, when combined with Gary Go’s  laid back, almost 80s, vocal makes for untroubled, breezy, four minutes of Disco escapism.

[MP3] Pat Lok’s ‘Crazy Juice’

pat-lok_thumb_thumb

“I made some not disco” Canadian, er, Disco, producer Pat Lok exclaimed on Twitter yesterday evening. Well, for a start he wasn’t lying, and it’s awesome to see producers playing fast and loose with genres. Many artists produce their best work when experimenting and branching out, and let’s face it Nu-Disco is getting a bit repetitive, it’s no wonder the more creative on the scene want to spread their musical wings.

So where does that leave Pat, the track Crazy Juice is a brooding Chicago House/early 90s Rave crossover that keeps Lok’s funk, but channels it toward a darkened warehouse. Loaded with shuffling 909 beats and a big warping bassline, Crazy Juice brings the kind of strobe light vibe that takes us back to our youth. One for a full-on night out.

[MP3] Neptune Safari

Neptune Safari

We love it when surprises drop into the electronic rumors Inbox. Yesterday new Parisian Nu-disco producer Neptune Safari dropped by to show of his latest track. His début track too, and what a confident début it is. More polished and thoughtful than many releases in the Nu-Disco spectrum, with one track Neptune Safari has marked himself as one to watch.

Adeline Is In A Water Drop is a meaty title for a track, but befits the Smörgåsbord of laid back grooves presented here. Deep walking Disco bass and silky smooth synths wash through the track, accompanied by little starlight melodies, as Adeline Is In A Water Drop carries you away with it to more chilled, funkier, places. We’re very impressed by Neptune Safari’s premiere track.

[MP3] Lifelike reMixes Futurecop!

futurecop_thumb

A couple of weeks ago we gave you the skinny on Futurecop!’s new single, Atlantis 1997, mentioning that there was a remix on the single from French Touch pioneer Lifelike. Well now, as the single draws ever closer to it’s late March release, we can give you a listen to that very reMix. Its downloadable too!

Atlantis 1997 is a carefree Dreamwave track in which Ricco Vitali from Cavaliers Of Fun delivers a anthemic, summery vocal. Lifelike uses this vocal to it’s fullest over a big filtered Disco backing. Concentrating on the songs chorus, and adding a few chop-up into the mix, Lifelike delivers punchy bass, smooth keys and slick sheen that can only come from being a master of your art. This mix swirls around your ears like euphoric smoke, drawing you into it’s groove.

[MP3] Let Em Riot’s ‘I Know’

Let Em Riot

We have a treat for you to kick off the week. A new freebie from Californian retro SynthPop artist Let Em Riot. Riding high on the success of his SlashWave EP (released via electronic rumors) Let Em Riot presents I Know, his latest masterpiece, for the incredibly cheap price of an email address.

I Know is just the kind of top quality trip you’d expect from this guy. Nostalgic, without being trite. Catchy without being reparative. Beautiful without being, er, not-beautiful. I Know breezes out of your speakers and when, after the tension building verse, the track launches into it’s sweeping, epic, chorus you can’t help but be hooked. It’s difficult for us to big up one of out own artists, but Alan Oakes really is one of the best songwriters in electronic music right now, hell that’s why we signed him, and I Know is just further proof of this. If you haven’t experienced Let Em Riot yet, here’s your gateway.
