Rogue Vogue’s new single

Rogue Vogue

Rogue Vogue is that rare beast, a Chicago House producer actually from Chicago. I wonder if that makes him really smug at Chicago House producer get-togethers? If it was me I would well play the Chicago card all the time.

His latest track, When I Looked At You, was premiered on the last of The Magician’s Magic Tapes, and is released soon through French Express. It’s a proper deep Chicago groove complete with piano hook and hollow bass. Apparently, with the resurgence of early ‘90’s House sounds people are saying “jackin’” again, well this is without a doubt a jackin’ tune with a smooth vocal hook. Proper late night danceflor stuff whit this amazing lead line that occasionally drops in and out. This is the real deal.

Met Mitchell

Met Mitchell

Dutch SynthWaver Met Mitchell is one have of production duo Legan And Met, who we’ve featured here a once or twice. He’s just dropped a couple of new solo tunes that show his journey into vintage synth music is about to go to the next level.

Folding in a little ChipTune into his SynthWave, Met’s Echoes Like Shadows is a synthetic journey through retro sounds. Taking the soundtrack feel and emotional resonance from SynthWave and the video game sounds of ChipTune and combining them with a solid Italo groove makes for a pretty sweet track. A rich listening experience, Echoes Like Shadows is an impressive solo début. It’s follow up, En Route, is a slightly smoother affair, the synths are still buzzing and piercing, but the overall mood is more relaxed. This pensive track weaves along under a beautiful lead line, using lush synth sounds to thoughtful effect.

Sneaky Sound System’s ‘Friends’ reMixes

Sneaky Sound System

There’s a few reMixes of Australian Pop superheroes Sneaky Sound System’s new single Friends around, the whole single package is really good, including work from BeNi, Sneaky SoundSystem’s own Black Angus and an awesome mix from Plastic Plates we featured last week. Of the tracks on the single that are fresh to our ears, the mixes from Jonny Pow!! and Norman Doray are the standouts.

Plastic Plates aside, Jonny Pow!! delivers the best of the crop. A Funky ElectroPop tune that takes Connie’s big vocal and adds more Disco groove and this infections synth hook that worms it’s way into your brain. This is definitely, alongside the Plastic Plates mix, the more intelligent reMix in the package. For summer DiscoPop connoisseurs If you want massive danceflor action, then Norman Doray delivers, generic Trance lead aside it’ll do the job, just try not to think about it too hard. It’s all good fun.

Mindscramble reMixes Swagbot

Swagbot

OK, try an ignore the fact that Swagbot is a truly terrible name, the guy is a young Canadian producer who generally makes some pretty decent Italo noises. But right now just sit back and enjoy the massive SynthWave sounds that Manchester’s Mindscramble has produced in reMixing him.

Mindscramble (which, no dis, isn’t gonna’ win prizes in the names category either), conjures up such a rich tapestry of synthetic sounds with is reMix of Planet X that it’s hard not to get lost in this track. Intricately programmed riffs fly left and right while a solid, but emotional, rhythm section keeps the densely layered tune in check. It’s hard to produce tracks with so much going on, the mix is hard to get right, but Mindscramble seems to handle the balance with ease. With an underlying euphoria that shows Mindscramble’s roots this reMix is both driving and emotionally resonant, and what more could you ask for on the dancefloor?

Shiny Toy Guns’ new single

Shiny Toy Guns

Here’s the history of Electro-Rock outfit Shiny Toy Guns. In 2004 they are an awesome New Wave/ElectroPop band. In 2005 the release the slightly more guitary, but still amazing We Are Pilots. In 2006 they sign to a major and re-release that album as, basically an electronically based alt rock album. In 2008 they kick out singer Carah Faye (boo!) and it all turns into tedious mediocre rock. Stuff happens between 2008-2011 that isn’t very interesting. In 2011 they get Carah Faye back (yay!) and start releasing some really interesting material. And here we are.

Waiting Alone was released this week, their new single, and it really plays to Shiny Toy Guns’ strengths. Carah Faye and Chad doing call-and-response vocals, big beats and lush synths, sprinkled with a little guitar and a big passionate performance. The thing about Carah Faye’s vocals, and indeed Chad’s too, is that they always sound so real, so genuine. It’s very nice to hear Shiny Toy Guns back in the electronic arena. If they keep this up we’ll be very interested to hear their forthcoming new album, III.

The Presets’ ‘Youth In Trouble’

You know what I thought when I went to bed last night? I thought ‘I hope there’s a new track from The Presets released when I wake up’, their first new track for four years’. Look what happened!

Youth In Trouble is finally out today. A hypnotic, undulating, acidic odyssey. Both abrasive and funky as hell. Yoshi Sodeoka directs the video effects hell video, an assault on the senses to match the track.

Youth In Trouble is out now with reMixes from Green Velvet, Alex Metric, and The Finger Prince & Light Year (although we can find it in any store that sells decent quality downloads yet, just iTunes).

The Presets new album Pacifica is out 14th September on Modular.

Little Boots reMixed by Moon Boots

little boots

A while back, we claim that we had made our last post about Little Boots’ current single Headphones, luckily we used the caveat ‘probably’ because there another awesome new reMix. This reMix comes from another kind of boots, a Moon Boots. The American Disco producers has combined his talent for Boogie with Little Boots infectious Pop to create a pair of Little Moon Boots that’ll rock your socks.

Moon Boots gets his Nu-Disco groove on with the funkiest of the Headphones reMixes so far. Sparsely sprinkled with Tropical percussion, Boots (the Moon variety) lays on the bouncy synth bass and sparkling lead lines thick, crating a relaxed dancefloor gem that flows perfectly with Boots (the Little variety)’s vocal. It’d be a toss-up between this and Dimitri From Paris’ mix for our favourite, I think they both take the top spot for different reasons.

Touch Tone reMixed by Final DJs

touch-tone1

Germany’s finest, Final DJs, have joined the reMixing Touch Tone’s Home Away From Home party and the thought of that eipc vocals combined with Final DJs epic synth solos is pretty exciting indeed. Still riding high on the release of their recent Gossip Country Final DJs are on a roll right now, let’s see if they can keep it up.

Their reMix of Home Away From Home is probably the funkiest thing they have released to date, there’s very little of the SynthWave Final DJs in here. Instead what we are treated to is head on collision between Nu-Disco, Tropical and House. With a bassline, guitar lick and strings that are pure ‘70’s Disco and a beat and piano hook straight out of Chicago, the Final DJs mix up a slick, summery vibe that really plays with the vocals. They’ve pushed the rhythm of the chorus back a bar which makes the chorus seem more urgent, giving the laid back beach vibes a bit of drive. Guaranteed to get you moving, Final DJs mix has injected some much needed boogie into our Wednesday.

Pinemarten’s new EP

Pinemarten

Derbyshire based producer Pinemarten is back with a brand new EP. He’s been a bit quiet since January when he released his Here It Is EP. We’re glad to see he hasn’t been sitting on his laurels, the man is preparing for the release of his new EP I Can See.

Here’s the title track, what we are treated to here is more of Pinemarten’s not-quit- Chillwave, chilly ElectroPop. Driven by a thick digital Funk bassline and, whilst the sound is somewhat bigger than on the previous releases, the laid back vibe still remains. Full of sweeping synths and a reverb washed electronic soundscape, I Can See casts a slightly more imposing shadow that Pinemarten has before, but his floaty, emotional vocals keep the tune in that dreamlike Disco mode we loved the first time and there’s some beautiful soloing toward the end. ElectroPop for chilled summer evenings. Check it out.

Flamingo Drive’s ‘Every Time I Think Of You’

flamingodrive

German king of Boogie Tim Bernhardt A.K.A. Satin Jackets presents the new single from his Flamingo Drive project this week via Cardiff’s awesome Pole Position Recordings. Satin Jackets collaborator Eric Cozier once again team up with the man to supply some slick vocals over the Flamingo Drive synthetic Disco groove.

Everytime I Think Of You picks up where the last release, Strange World on Mullet Records, left off, but while that track was an energetic digital Disco workout, Everytime I Think Of You takes the listener to slightly more chilled places. Folding in some early ‘80’s ElectroPop influences into the Nu-Disco sound, Flamingo Drive pulls off a shimmering slice of retro synthesizer Pop with a lazy Disco groove, while Cozier’s vocals seem to float in the distance. Of course there’s a Satin Jackets reMix, where Bernhardt goes all out on the percussive Nu-Disco. With a dirty grit to the production, Satin Jackets rock vintage drum machines and an B-Boy Electro bassline to put the Boogie back into Electro Boogie while keeping it smooth and summery at the same time. The single also contains an infectious Deep House mix from CRAM and the instrumental version of the original. Perfect timing now the weather is getting warmer, this single is made for summer party time.
