[Audio] Deep Sound Express features on Pole Jam Vinyl’s inaugural release

Deep Sound Express

Let us introduce to you Pole Jam Vinyl. A brand new label, or sub-label from Pole Position Recordings and Satin JacketsGlam Jam Artists label. Pole Jam’s remit is to bring their blend of smooth Nu-Disco and Deep House grooves to vinyl, making sure only the best makes it to black wax. They’ve just released their first 12”, the Endless Sunday EP, a purely Russian affair featuring two tracks from KLar&PF and two tracks we felt were the EP’s standouts from Moscow’s Deep Sound Express.

The first of Deep Sound Express’ contribution is a collaboration with Too Techs, Sunday Morning. Dropping heavy House vibes, the track is the prefect mix of solid dancefloor workout and laid back sunrise sounds. Definitely one for dancing into the early hours of the morning, the first of Deep Sound Express’ tunes works 909 beats and hazy, jazzy electric piano to create a feel good House mood with a hint of Nu-Disco thrown in for good measure. There’s something immediately comforting about Sunday Mornings slick production. The second track, After Rain, features Raha and is slightly more upbeat. Only slightly though, it still retains the dreamy piano and deep, smokey tones of it’s predecessor but with the added energy of some crooned Funk vocals and slick Disco licks. The whole EP is loaded with classic late night jams, if you;re looking for something to take your dancefloor into the early hours, then this is it.

[Video] Oliver’s ‘Night Is On My Mind’

Oliver Night Is On My Mind YouTube

Night Is On My Mind wasn’t our favourite track from LA duo Oliver’s Mechanical EP of earlier this year, but in combination with this new video it;s pretty awesome.

The video, directed by Greg Brunkalla, is funny and cool and shows off a nice vintage cinematography.

Oliver’s Mechanical EP is out now.

[Audio] Holy Models’ ‘Swimming’

Holy Models

Eskimo Recordings have been knocking it out of the park in the last twelve months, their latest discovery hails from Adelaide in South Australia and have been making waves on the Australian scene for the last few months. They’re called Holy Models. Adam Frawley and Mitchell Van Kaathoven, and recent addition Luke McKay, and delivering some seriously breezy poolside sounds and will be showing them off on their début EP, The Pink Collection, of which Swimming is the lead track.

Swimming is a playful and carefree tune that immediately draws you in with Lo-Fi Disco beats and an infectious walking bassline. This easy groove belies something a little darker in the lyrics, but the silky delivery atop blissful reverb drenched Disco and shimmering synths makes it all OK. The track was also co-produced by Mr. James Curd!

Here’s the video for Prana by Suffolk noisemakers The Soft. A woozy electronic dream made up of ecclectic synth work and watery vocals.

The clip, directed by by William Glass, is a kaleidoscopic colourful, lava lamp of a performance video. It even runs with the 90s CGI theme. Proper happy daze business.

The Soft’s Prana is out now, their début EP is released 24th September.

[Audio] Adeyhawke & Sferro’s ‘Program Tina’

Adeyhawke

We’re fast approaching the release of Adeyhawke’s new EP, Kodachrome Sundae, via Girlfriend Records. The amount we’ve posted about the EPs tracks, it feels like we’ve been waiting for ages, but now with a release date set for later this month we can have a listen to the releases final track, a collaboration between Adeyhawke and Girlfriend label boss Sferro, Program Tina.

Adeyhawke & Sferro bring the tempo down a bit on this one, exuding laid back, nostalgic, electronic vibes. The best is slow and steady, I’m not going to go so far as to say Dubstep, but it’s in that arena, with heaps of shimmering synths on top. Actually, this is probably the closes thing that exists to DubstepSynthWave, as the track is washed in subtly Dubstep-esque flourishes, all mixed up with some luscious, epic, vintage synthesizer music.

[Video] Foxes’ ‘Youth’

Foxes Youth YouTube

One of Foxes’ first tunes, the bombastic ElectroPop of Youth, looks like it’s getting re-released, with a slick new production, as a single in a couple of months. Which we’re OK with, it’s an awesome tune that deserves to be bigger, and it might be with this slick video.

It’s a cool clip, which sees Foxes getting into Hipstervision mode that speaks to the youthfulness of the track.

Foxes’ Youth is released 6th October.

[Audio] Maighréad’s ‘Sooner’

Maighréad

Sooner is the new single from London based Irish SynthPop singer/songwriter Maighréad. Having just been picked up by new label Meon Records, we’re hoping this sees more development being put into Maighréad, who has an amazing voice and personality, both of which which was pretty flatlined by her pervious label with bland production and videos.

Sooner is definitely a step in the right direction. Maighréad’s Billie Ray Martin-esque vocals are given space to shine. Sooner really highlights both Maighréad’s talents as both a singer, and songwriter, an epic, sweeping track with rushes of emotion in the choruses that stay with you after the track’s long finished. Unfortunately the production is still a tiny bit flat, we would love more than anything for Meon Records to hook Maighréad with someone a bit more contemporary, a little less demo-y, we can but hope Meon will give Maighréad their full backing, she deserves it.

[MP3] Keljet reMixes Kings Of Tomorrow’s ‘Finally’

Kings Of Tomorrow

Not content with sitting on their laurels after the release of their awesome current single, Love Of A Life, and winning The Knocks recent Modern Hearts reMix competition, Dutch duo Keljet are keeping their momentum going with a brand new reMix. It’s a brand new reMix of an old tune, a classic tune, the soulful House hit Finally by Kings Of Tomorrow and Julie McKnight from 2000.

IF you’re looking for a big House tune with a classic twist, then you’ve come to the right place. 909 beats and claps keep this one sounding vintage, along with a big piano hook with and an irresistible bassline. Of course, this is all added into the mix with those big diva vocals that life the track even higher. Sprinkle this with a little of Keljet’s emotional, summery, Disco vibes and you’ve got a 100% tune.

[Audio] Cosmic Sand’s ‘Find Me’

Cosmic Sand

Portuguese SynthWave producer Cosmic Sand is back with a brand new single. The last we heard from this guy was November last year’s Route 375 EP, now he’s sidled over to Future City Records and bring some huge synth sounds with him. Billed as the Find Me At The Bay Tonight EP, the release is really a single consisting of the lead track Find Me and it’s B-side, 9h00, with reMixes supplied by Vincenzo Salvia, Nightcrawler and Dorian.

Find Me is a rich slice of SynthWave with the kind of multi facetted production and musical narrative that draws you in as each minute passes. Built on involving, syncopated, beat that hovers just one step away from Drum & Bass, and ringing vintage synths, Find Me keeps adding fresh elements to the layers of soundtrack synths. Whether bringing in hints of turntablism, unexpected Funk riffs or adding more to the rich, emotional retro keys, Cosmic Sand delivers an enriching experience. The B-side, 9h00, is more traditional SynthWave fare, resonating Italo hooks and a pulsating digital bassline are the order of the day here, whist not as innovative as Find Me, it certainly delivers the SynthWave goods and plays with some intoxicating lead lines. An excellent release from Cosmic Sand, and one you should check out.
