HiFi Brown’s ‘My Own Nothing’

HiFi Brown

HiFi Brown is a German producer with a leaning toward big bassy Boogie and buzzing analog synths. He just released his début album, Cancer, which you can get a taste of right here with the lead track, My Own Nothing.

My Own Nothing is a deep grooved Disco monster. Equal parts Cosmic and Urban Boogie, My Own Nothing slinks along powered by an infectious bassline, repetitive and hypnotic, the bassline draws you into the track where you are treated to space-age, shimmering, synths flying left and right. HiFi Brown cuts right to the heard of the Funk and distils groove down to it’s purest form, ready to move your body and mind.

Philosophy Of Sound’s ‘Fragile Disco’ video + Coupons reMix

Philosophy Of Sound’s second single for Discotexas, Fragile Disco, has just been released and continues their deep, vintage sounding, Disco oddessy.

Check out the new video, directed by Martin Koszolko. It features far to many apps and not enough actual instruments in our opinion, but it’s a nice looking affair.

Also just our for you listening pleasure is this reMix of the track from fellow Discotexas-ers Coupons, to take the track to even deeper places with growling baselines and space-age melodies.

Moullinex & Gigamesh

Moullinex

Next month Gomma man Moullinex will finally be releasing his long awaited début (really?) album, Flora, and boy it’s going to be a funk fuelled killer. In preparation we’ve got two new tracks for you here. First up a celebratory freebie from the man himself followed by a reMix of his new single from Gigamesh.

Moullinex dropped Kassette as one of those ‘reached xxxx ‘likes’ or whatever’ milestones. Whereas we are pretty opposed to this meaningless numbers game the music industry is turning into, we can’t fault a new Moullinex track. Kassette is an Edit of Kasso’s Walkman from 1982 that Moullinex has been playing out for quite a while and now it can be enjoyed in all it’s twisted funk, multi instrumental, infectious hook, glory. Take My Pain Away will be the album’s preceding single and alongside reMixes from Rory Phillips, Strip Steve, and DJ Steef sits this blinding track from Gigamesh. Gigamesh whips up an epic retro Disco tune that just goes to prove why he is one of Disco big rising stars. A flawless production built on an irresistible funky groove and driven on by some spine-tingling solos.

Mirror People’s ‘Kaleidoscope’

Mirror People

The awesome Discotexas’ latest release comes from stable member Mirror People and an insanely infectious tune called Kaleidoscope. Released today, this tune has been getting tons of play and support from the likes of The Magician, Bottin, Bag Raiders, Moullinex, B-Xentric! and MiGHty mOUse. Deservedly too, it’s pure crazy fun Disco.

With a twisted P-Funk bassline and a melody that worms it’s way into your brain like some insidious mind control, Kaleidoscope is built on the foundations of a solid beat and a hypnotic loop. Add a few Acidic burbles and shiny chiming leads and you have a floorfiller that is all about the good times. Discotexas cohort Xinobi supplies the reMix, mixing in a little of his left-field Disco and Italo sounds. even going so far as to make things a bit soulful with a nice piano line. One again, Discotexas have delivered a top quality party rocker.

Escort reMixed by RAC

Escort

We’ve got some Moroder Disco going on right now with this new reMix of Brooklyn Disco orchestra Escort’s Starlight by one or more of the Remix Artists Collective, RAC. Actually, we know who it was, it was Andre Anjos who put together this arpeggiated monster, but where’s the fun in knowing that?

So, we have the Italo-esque Moroder arpeggiated bassline forming the core of this track. And when you have such a huge Disco voice as Adeline Michèle’s to play with, the temptation not to go all Donna Summer must be overwhelming. On top of that a real vintage feel rides the groove with emotive stings and just the right amount of Cosmic flourishes. Retro future diva stuff right here.
