[Audio] Zimmer’s ‘Escape’

Zimmer

In the mood for some self-styled Horizontal Disco? Well have no fear because Mr. Horizontal Disco himself, Parisian producer and DJ Zimmer, is back with a brand new tune. Enlisting the help of Norwegian vocalist Emilie Adams, Zimmer has unleashed Escape. Escape is the first track to be taken from his forthcoming EP, Coming Of Age, due out next month via Roché Music. Give it a listen below.

Taking a pinch of Tropical, a hint of Chicago and just a dash of UK Deep, Zimmer serves up one of his trademark beautiful and laid back poolside dancefloor tunes. Escape is loaded with Island riff and a resounding piano hook. Playing out over rooms drums and a percussive bassline Adams’ raspy vocals are neatly interspersed with half heard Sax. This is smokey House music for urban late nights. Summer in the city is here.

Zimmer

Parisian Horizontal Discomeister Zimmer is back with a brand new track. Saturday Love has the French producer teaming up with fellow Parisian DJ and Producer Pallace and enlisting Boston based singer Aria Lanelle for vocal duties. It’s his first tune since last summer’s Sensify Me and it sees Zimmer side-stepping his normal smooth groove and wearing his love of Piano House on his sleeve.

Saturday Love is warm as hell. Zimmer put’s his own Tropical twist on a Chicago House sound, complimenting the deep warehouse bass and hammerfall piano hooks with the ubiquitous poolside Disco vibe having island keys shoulder to shoulder with skippy 909 drums and vintage House synths. Lanelle’s playful vocals tie the track together nicely. Summertime stuff!

[Download] Zimmer reMixes Wunder Wunder’s ‘Midnight Hours’

wunder-wunder

Los Angeles based Miami Horror spin-off Wunder Wunder have a habit of choosing the smoothes of producers for their reMixes. Back in the summer we vibed to Goldroom’s take on their tune Coastline; now Parisian Horizontal Disco mastermind Zimmer turns in this lazy, poolside jam in his version of Midnight Hours. The track is taken from Wunder Wunder’s début album, Everything Infinite.

Zimmer serves up a chilled mix of laid back piano and swirling pads alongside a woody Disco groove. The sleepy vibes are the prefect accompaniment for the original’s Psychedelic Pop sensibilities, creating something dancefloor friendly, but dreamy and spaced out. Stick this in your headphones and sink into the sounds.

Zimmer

Released at the end of the month is the new slab of Horizontal Disco from Parisian Groovemeister Zimmer. We last heard from the man later last year with the post-summertime bliss of Galapagos and now he continues his laid back House journey with a tune that started life as a jam session with none other than Moon Boots, and drums from Crayon. It features vocals from KLP and is called Sensify Me.

Destined to become one of the tunes of the summer, Zimmer eases a slight Deep House flavour into a sprawling Tropical tune where pulsating subby basses mix with nostalgic pads and an effortless funk. A hazy, but dancefloor friendly, backing indeed for KLP’s hushed vocals to work their magic over the top. We’re saving this one up for the weekend.

[Audio] Zimmer reMixes Moullinex’s ‘To Be Clear’

Moullinex

Released last week via Discotexas, was the new single from the king of the Portuguese Disco scene, Moullinex. Set amongst a packed reMix collection, that include work from RAC and Kraak & Smaak, sits this absolute gem from the Parisian creator of Horizontal Disco; Zimmer. Featuring the vocals of Rebeka’s Iwona Skwarek, the original was a pumping three and a half minutes of DiscoPop which Zimmer transforms into a laid back blanket of Tropical breeze.

Pitching down the vocals for a ghostly (and surprisingly soulful) vibe, Zimmer introduced all manner of haunting sounds to contrast his popping, vintage, synth array and House flavour. the restful is something that is both compellingly dancefloor friendly and mysteriously chilled. Maybe that’s the point of Horizontal Disco, who knows? No-one except Zimmer himself we guess. You’d have thought the Pan Pipes would be a bit cheesy in a post-Enigma world, but the work amazingly well in this track; an instrument not often used in Disco, but one that lends the track a little emotional rush. All-in-all, an infectious tune from Zimmer that completely reworks the original and delivers something of an intelligent floorfiller.

Zimmer

It seems like ages since Parisian Horizontal Disco innovator Zimmer released a new track. Aside from a series of excellent mixtapes, and a handful to top reMixes,, we haven’t heard a new tune since, we think, the actual Horizontal Disco EP. Mr. (Le) Crayon steps up to help out with drum duties on Galapagos, a suitably evocative title for this Tropical meets Chicago House jam.

Galapagos, delivers a nice line in pitched down vocals and chilled House groove that Zimmer has chosen to pair with Tropical purcussion and an Island lead line. The whole affair end up being bizarrely warehouse, with the Tropical lead somehow morphing into a classic Rave hook in Zimmer’s deft hands. We guess the track would work equally well by the pool or in the crowd, it’s adapted for either situation. For us though, we’re going to take the chilled route with this one.

[MP3] Zimmer reMixes Rod Stewart’s ‘Da’ Ya’ Think I’m Sexy?’

Rod-Stewart

Let’s send you into your weekend with something a little funky and a little fun. One of out favourite French producers, Zimmer, the master of horizontal Disco, has seen fit to deliver a stomping rework of Rod Stewart’s 1978 cheesefest Da’ Ya’ Think I’m Sexy?.

Not to sure what to say about this really, you’ll either love it or hate it. Zimmer whips up a pumping bassline and a killer beat to add to this monster. A sweet amount of Cosmic Disco synth warbling is along for the ride too, but your opinion of this track will still rest on whether you are amused by the tracks instantly recognisable riff and Stewart’s cringe-worthy vocals, or depressed by them. We definitely fall into the amused camp, put a smile of your face this weekend.
