Age Of Consent’s new video

London based retro ElectroPop outfit Age Of Consent’s new single ‘Heartbreak’ was released this week on their Bandcamp page for the cheap price of ‘whatever you want’.

It’s a stomping, powerful classic SynthPop track, check the video directed by Gareth Phillips for some retro video visual to go with that Depeche Mode/Nitzer Ebb pounding.

Aimes’ new single

Aimes

Yesterday Brooklyn based Indie-SynthWave artist Aimes released his new single ‘Step Away’. A slick Indie-Disco affair with reMix duties from  Chordashian.

‘Step Away’ is a nice mix of Indie and Disco with Aimes’ Chillwave leaning dreamy sheen. Funking slap bass and slick Disco licks play about amongst the lush retro synths with a restudy that it;s hard not to move to. Over the top of this is some surprising Bryan Ferry-esque vocals, sung with weird emphasis but perfectly fitting for the groove of the track. It’s one for lazy days in the city, in the sun. Chordashian’s reMix picks up the pace a little and aims the song squarely at late night dancefloors with a candy coating of the smoothest Disco, thick with cosmic sounds and vocoders a-plenty. The single is like the day and night of cool, this’ll be on repeat for a long time.

Soldout’s ‘Wazabi’

Slinky Belgian ElectroPop duo Soldout have just released their new single ‘Wazabi’. It’s a abrasive but catchy synthetic Pop track that was put together with some input from Richard 23, which kinda’ explains things.

Here’s the video, directed by Soldout, Amandine Klee and Frederic Lefevre, featuring distorted neon visuals. Distorted neon nicely sums up Soldout’s sound actually!

‘Wazabi’ is out now.

Baby Monster’s ‘City Of Lovers’

Baby Monster

Baby Monster are back! Long time reader will know just how much we love Baby Monster around here, this l time last year they were previewing tracks from their self-titled début album, exciting times. So it’s pretty cool that the guys have chosen this month again to drop the first of their new material. I must say, thought, that the PR email came with this sentence: “Baby Monster is preparing to release a brand new organically grown collection of tracks by duo Daniel Sternbaum and Marty Larson Xu.”, which is a stream of pretentious PR bullshit so heinous that if it wasn’t for our love of these guys music I would have trashed it straight away. Baby Monster need new PR.

Anyway, ‘City Of Lovers’ is the title track from Baby Monster’s new EP, to be released next month. It’s a majestic return to out consciousness. A slinky, bass heavy, Indie-ElectroPop track that shimmers with summery good times. It’s light, airy synths play against the pulsing analog sounding bass to make the track work musically on both your body and mind. Add into the equation a wash of slick Indie vocals with a catchy, infectious as hell chorus that plays around alongside quaint little synth lead lines. If Baby Monster’s previous work is anything to go by this EP should be something special, and unlike the PR suggests, not covered in dirt and horse manure, but pure gold.

Drop Out Orchestra’s ‘It Will Never Be The Same Again’ single

drop-out-orchestra

Originally heard on Aeroplane’s, still on rotation, ‘In Flight Entertainment’ compilation, Sweedish Disco duo Drop Out Orchestra’s ‘It Will Never Be The Same Again’ finally sees a single release this month with a reMix package on Eskimo Recordings.

‘It Will Never Be The Same Again’, as you will probably know by now, is nice rolling, quite jazzy, Disco number. Vocoder heavy and loaded with lush ‘70’s stings alongside bouncy synth work. It’s got quite a chilled vibe, like a relaxed Moroder, but with enough groove to rock the dancefloor. reMixes come correct from London Electro Disco duo Punks Jump Up and Gomma staple Moullinex. Punks Jump Up, bring out a little more of the dancefloor side of the track. Reminiscent of some of PJU’s older work it’s got a solid piano line, a pulsating bassline and a real House vibe to it. Moullinex wastes no time and gets straight on with his quirky Portuguese Cosmic Disco business. Space synths and a slight Tropical flavour make for a nice future retro Mediterranean flavour. Picking a hollow bass sound really accentuates the bass riff and makes for an addictive core to the track. Also including a B-Side, ‘Sun Machine’ featuring The Reverb Junkie, this is a hell of a smooth Disco package.

Flight Facilities’s ‘With You’

Flight Facilities’ new single ‘With You’ is a slamming Disco jam that features Mr. Grovesnor from Hot Chip who has briefly put down the sticks and picked up the mic for this team-up. It’s a summery, laid back tune that I actually prefer to ‘Crave You’ (controversial!). The Tropical Funk is strong with this one, as is the French flavour.

Benjamin Drake directs this superb animated video with is a bit of a MegaMan/Speed Racer/Akira/Astroboy/Bubblegum Crisis mashup. Very cool.

‘With You’ is out now.

Final DJs début single

finaldjs

Well it’s finally here. Germany’s purveyors of the finest in dreamy SynthWave Final DJs release their début single for On The Fruit Records today. It’s been a long road tog et here which has seen this duo dropping originals and reMixes taking in everything from cinematic Dreamwave to bass funkin’ Nu-Disco. It seemed to take them a while to settle on a sound of their own, but with this premiere release they lay down their musical manifesto. You better listen up.

‘Gossip Country’ contains three originals and two reMixes, the title track is an epic excursion through synthetic melodies. Kicking off with a machine bassline with a Industrial feel, which isn’t as harsh as it sounds and makes for a nice hypnotic, undulating, backing for the lush, rich pads and some of Final DJs greatest solos and lead lines to date. There even a little ‘90’s House vibe in the mix too just to offset the overwhelming 80’s-ness of the leads. Final DJs have crafted some real goosebumps moments in ‘Gossip Country’ and, whilst keeping the SynthWave sound have taken it one step further and taken Outrun Electro one step further toward being accepted by the mainstream. Flipside number one, ‘Salt On Our Skin’ is more of a funkier affair, but in an funky Italo way rather than a Nu-Disco vein with it’s bouncy digital bass being impossible not to move to. Again these producer double act hit just the right note with their soaring synth work. The remaining B-Side, ‘A Long Way Home’ is a more traditional dance affair with a lot more of the 90’s vibes. reMixes come from Sebastian Scotch who drops a deep Housey Disco track and Justin Faust who reworks ‘Gossip Country’, adding a bit more of a syncopated groove and a classy Disco sheen. Faust keeps a lot  of what makes the track so good in place, just tweaking things here and there, making the song ready for prime time.

Mr. Gonzo’s ‘Dance On You’

Mr. Gonzo

It’s been a while since we heard from French producer Mr. Gonzo, since his ‘Extended Play Area’ EP he’s been of around the world DJing and hidden away working on his new single, which is released today on Folistar.

‘Dance On You’ is a massive tune that straddles the line between Nu-Disco and Electro-House. Squelchy funky basses rock the core of the track leaving loads of room for some crazy stabs and vocal snatches. Unmistakable French, ‘Dance On You’ takes the classic French Disco sound and layers it heavily with dirty, grunged up synths. Infectious stuff! The B-Side, ‘Wild Shoes’ is pure slick French Disco, cut up and stuck back together with good-times-glue. This track is slick dancefloor fodder, but amidst all the smooth grooves Mr. Gonzo manages to keep things raw with some subtly use of chainsaw synths. reMixes for the single are supplied by Tagteam Terror and DJ Gero.

Pteez’ ‘Southwind Part 2’

pteez

One of our favourite up-and-coming Russian producers Mr. Pteez is back. this time he’s dropping the follow up to last years ‘Southwind’.

Pteez sticks with the chilled summer vibes for ‘Southwind Part 2’ and lays down some retro Electro Boogie fit for the beach. The very cinematic SynthWave Pteez lays down, with it’s densely packed arrangement of sweeping pads and nostalgic melodies, conjures images of moves from the ‘80’s, maybe some light action, not comedy but not to serious either, the good guys are definitely prevailing. That’s a win for everyone!

Camille R’s ‘Vegas Night$’

Camille R

‘Vegas Night$’ is the new single from French SynthWave producer Camille R. The precursor to his forthcoming new album. To be released in the coming months the new records will be the follow up to last years’ ‘Last Limit’, and album so good it featured in the electronic rumors Awards Best Album of 2011 category.

So it was with excitement that we checked out this first taste of what to expect later this year. ‘Vegas Night$’ shows a smoother, slightly more mature sound for Camille. Truly capturing the Vegas vibe means Camille has added a little glamour to this tune, mixing up his 80’s synth work with some late ‘70’s Disco strings and licks. Even the percussion has a kinda’ bright-white-jumpsuit sheen to it with it’s cabaret bongos and shimmering chimes. ‘Vegas Night$’ is slick as hell, and makes us very excited to hear what the man has up his sleeve for us on his full length record.
