[Audio] Dublin Aunts rework Kool Bandits

Kool Bandits

French cheesy Disco outfit Kool Bandits are releasing a reMix package for their single of late last year, Gliding Over The City. Of particular note on the release is a reworked version from Australia’s Dublin Aunts, who inject the track with a lush tropical feel.

Dublin Aunts take a smooth Disco approach to the track. Laid back, but not slow, their reMix is a slick, sexy take on the track that’s aimed straight at late night dancefloors. With a sprinkling of Tropical vibes set amongst some Deep House grooves and airy Disco pads, their reMix slowly builds toward a selection of twisted funk riffs and on the whole delivers the prefect mirrorball experience.

[MP3] Cut Slack reworks Midnight Star

Midnight Star

Here’s Portuguese outfit Cut Slack with a brand new track. This time it’s ‘80s electro Soul outfit Midnight Star that gets Cut Slack’s attention with their reworking of their 1986 classic Midas Touch.

Rather than a reMix, this track is a masterclass in how Edits should be done. Cut Slack have completely stripped back the vocals, leaving only a faint, processed, trace of the song to haunt the beats. then by highlighting the tunes dancefloor qualities, Cut Slack turn the track into the prefect Synth Disco groove. This track is full of the best in nostalgic electronic Disco. Big stabs, twisting synth riffs, a boogie down beat and load of head nodding attitude. One of the middle of the dancefloor.

[MP3] Black Magic Disco & Tom Eales

black-magic-disco_thumb_thumb

Some Deep Housey vibes right now from Black Magic Disco, as his new track sees him teaming up with Tom Eales for some growling groove action. So Serious is a free download courtesy of Pole Position Recordings and features a slightly different vibe than we are used to from BMD, but one that is bound to move you.

A head on collision between early ‘90’s warehouse sounds and Nu-disco, we can actually hear an ominous Acid House undercurrent to So Serious. It’s like Stakker Humanoid suddenly got all light and dreamy. Layering that typically ‘90s rolling Acid bass with a sprinkle of funk and a Housey riff give us the best of all worlds, and the vocoded vocals are just the icing on the cake. Time to get dancing.

[MP3] Blende & Surrender!

Blende & Surrender!

London purveyors of ballsy, rough, Disco sounds La Bombe have come up with the genius idea of releasing a collaborative EP featuring to of their artists who really took 2012 for and make it their own. UK producer Blende and Turkish wunderkind Surrender! have joined forces to release an EP that is showing signs of being everything a team-up of these proportions promises.

Two tracks from the February released Synapse EP have been aired so far. Circus, a crazy collision between early German Techno and rocking French Electro that soon launches into a full-on baroque Disco stomper that put’s the recent Justice album to shame. The EP’s title track, Synapse kicks straight off with an insanely catchy riff and soon descend into pure, unbridled, French Electro joy. The epitome of everything we love about French Electro, Synapse couple be held up as a masterclass in doing it properly. It makes you sad for everyone else.

[MP3] MNDR reMixed by Figure Of 8 and Box Of Wolves

MNDR

Yeah, yeah. We know. reMix competitions… You all know where we stand on reMix competitions, that’s stance being that they are mostly tedious. However, how can we say no to our favourite raw ElectroPop duo MNDR reMixed by two of our favourite producers, Figure Of 8 and Box Of Wolves? We couldn’t, and are just going to have to swallow out ‘reMix competition’ pride to bring you these two jams.

And they both take a very different tact too. Belfast’s Figure Of 8 whips up a deep Housey track with a strong warehouse vibe. Loaded with pulsating synths and robotic beats, Figure Of 8’s mix dips in and out of a 90s House sound whilst spending the rest of it’s time delivering a synthetic club track that contrasts strongly, but works amazingly well, with Amanda’s vocals. Chillwaver Box Of Wolves’ take on the track is typically warm and enveloping. Hinting at a 90’s R&B groove amongst the waves of blissed-out synths, Box Of Wolves crafts something that is both dreamlike and funky. Again, it’s not the kind of track we’re used to hearing Amanda singing on, but as with Figure Of 8’s mix, it works so well. Two top entries, if one of them doesn’t win we’ll be calling “foul”!

[Audio] Final DJs’ ‘One Day In The Sun’

final-djs_thumb

Released at the end of the month is the new single from Germany’s finest, Final DJs. This time round we are treated to a vocal track from these guys, enlisting the smooth tones of Stee Downes. The mere idea of Final DJs doing a vocal track is enough to get us excited, and the track doesn’t disappoint.

The single is titled One Day In The Sun, and it does exactly what it says on the tin. Final DJs have conjured up a laid back, summery, slice of synth love. Drawing on all their talents in Dreamwave, Nu-Disco and House, the guys have delivered a track that covers all those bases. The floaty synth pads of Dreamwave, the funky licks of Nu-Disco and a storming House undercurrent all work together prefect with Stee’s good-time vocals being the icing on the cake. It’s all about the endless summer.

[Audio] Lindstrøm & Todd Terje

Lindstrøm & Todd Terje

Well, this was bound to set the internet alight. Unless you’ve been living under a rock this week, you’ll already be aware of the new single from two of the standout producers of 2012. Lindstrøm and Todd Terje both owned last year when it comes to quirky, spacey Disco, and now the two Norwegians are together as one.

Lanzarote is the name of the single, which strikes a nice balance between the sunlit warmth of Disco and ice Scandinavian electronics. Clock in at over eight minutes, Lanzarote feels like a journey through frozen tundra wearing Bermuda shorts and shades. Typically Scandinavian piecing synths and vintage tones are all present, but tempered with a Tropical undercurrent, the end result is fun as hell.  Diskjokke, who also had a hand in the original writing of Lanzarote delivers an even spacier reMix that hits just the right synthetic Disco notes.

[Audio] Televisor’s ‘Starlight’

Out now on Monstercat is the latest release from London based Televisor. Starlight was released last week and it really does exactly what it says on the tin. This is an uplifting beam of starlight with a beat. This international duo seriously get their groove on for this new single, a peak time floorfiller.

Starlight sees SynthWavers Televisor moving even further into big room Nu-Disco territories. Exploring a Madeon/Lenno sound Televisor hit just the right notes, bringing big beats, funky cut-ups and layers upon layers of thick synths. And no big Nu-Disco track would be complete without a rocking solo, and Televisor take it stratospheric. We can see this tune getting a lot of play in the coming months.

[Audio] Patrick Baker’s new single

Patrick Baker

Amazing Retro Pop artist Patrick Baker is gearing up for the release of his début single. Released next month, Get 2 Know U is actually the first track of Patrick’s we featured on electronic rumors, back in June last year, and now it’s getting a proper release, backed with a pretty special reMix package, in anticipation of Baker’s album release later this year.  Televisor Jolie Cherie

You’ve probably heard Get 2 Know U by now, it’s a lush slice of 80s Americana. when we first wrote about it we commented that Patrick baker is to American 80s Pop what Kid Kasio is to British 80s Pop, and that’s true. Patrick authentically creates a nostalgic vision of the US charts in the great decade. Get 2 Know U is a catchy, upbeat slab of ElectroPop. Fun and funky, what more could you want? reMixes come from Robots With Rayguns with a deep, west coast, Pop mix, Televisor, who inject the track with a summery, beach-party, vibe and lends Get 2 Know U some Nu-Disco flair, and France’s Jolie Cherie, who turn in a relaxed, spacey, Disco tinged ElectroPop mix that has a nice warm sound to round of the single. We’re so pleased Patrick is starting to release stuff properly and predict big things from this guy.

[MP3] Leisure Council edit up The S.O.S. Band

The S.O.S. Band

LA smooth groove kings Leisure Council are back with this little edit they’ve whipped up of The S.O.S. Band’s classic High Hopes. The track’s got a killer proto-boogie bassline, which makes it prefect fodder for a modern dancefloor retouch, and Nicky, Jeremy & Sam seriously deliver the goods.

Keeping true to the original, this edit is slick and sexy all the way. A bit more emphasis is placed on that bassline, the bests are beefed up a bit, taking on a B-Boy swing, all kept in touch with the tracks soulful vocal. Edits should be all about making older tunes fit on todays dancefloors, and Leisure Council have done just that right here. Hot summer nights vibes all round.
