[MP3] Lifelike reMixes Futurecop!

futurecop_thumb

A couple of weeks ago we gave you the skinny on Futurecop!’s new single, Atlantis 1997, mentioning that there was a remix on the single from French Touch pioneer Lifelike. Well now, as the single draws ever closer to it’s late March release, we can give you a listen to that very reMix. Its downloadable too!

Atlantis 1997 is a carefree Dreamwave track in which Ricco Vitali from Cavaliers Of Fun delivers a anthemic, summery vocal. Lifelike uses this vocal to it’s fullest over a big filtered Disco backing. Concentrating on the songs chorus, and adding a few chop-up into the mix, Lifelike delivers punchy bass, smooth keys and slick sheen that can only come from being a master of your art. This mix swirls around your ears like euphoric smoke, drawing you into it’s groove.

Futurecop!’s Atlantis 1997 is released 23rd March with reMixes from Lifelike, P.A.F.F, Kill Them With Colour and Uppermost.

[MP3] Irish Steph’s ‘Paddy’s Craic’

Irish Steph

So, yesterday was St. Patrick’s day (out Irish friends can have some big ups) and fittingly, confusingly named French producer Irish Steph dropped a free tune to celebrate. This is no frivolous party tune, no throwaway free download, this is an Electro Disco powerhouse that does some really clever things with traditional Celtic instruments.

Well, that’s if you find chopping them up and reworking them into new hooks and melodies clever, which we do. When that spark of originality is mixed with a track that flows effortlessly from groovy vintage Funk to slick Disco-House to full on gritty Electro-House, without breaking a sweat we have to respect that. So whatever you’re celebrating, Irish Steph’s Paddy’s Craic will get the job done.

[Audio] IV

IV

IV (we’re not sure if that’s ‘4’, or ‘Intravenous’) is anew Parisian Horror Disco (their words) duo featuring one half of Kitsuné releasers Logo. They’ve just released their début EP, titled The Place Where We Were Hidden on Mental Groove Records. In the tradition of some great atmospheric movie synth in France right now (think: Pyramid) IV bring beats, synths and a cinematic tension.

The EP is three tracks, two originals and a reMix (which, really, makes it a double A-side single), the originals being Alaska and Doppelganger. These guys create a brooding atmosphere of dread whilst keeping things pretty upbeat. Taking cues from the likes of John Carpenter and grooves from Moroder, IV build undulating waves of vintage synths to fill you with fear whilst making you dance. Alaska combines the best in dark Italo beats and late 70s/early 80s synthesizer soundtrack music, with a compelling rhythm section and haunting melodies it really sets the tone for IV’s work. Doppelganger delivers a more pounding beat and leans slightly more in the direction of what you might expect from French Electro, with one foot in the Ed Banger camp, whist keeping all of it;s eerie Horror soundtrack credentials. Check out something dark and different, that still makes you dance.

IV’s The Place Where We Were Hidden is out now and includes a reMix of Alaska from Japanese outfit Crystal.

[Audio] Ghost Beach remixed by Gigamesh

Ghost Beach

It still a couple of weeks until New York duo Ghost Beach release their Modern Tongues reMix EP, but we’ve already heard a few of the reMixes included. Here’s the next in line. We’re were groovin’ to his massive last single, Enjoy, and Minneapolis’ finest, Gigamesh, drops this beautiful reMix of Miracle. Part of the reMix album, this tune was so good they actually released it as a single last week via Spotify.

Eschewing his usual high energy Nu-Disco on favour some something a little more reflective, Gigamesh weaves an emotionally rich tapestry of intertwining synth lines and pads. It’s a bassy track that conjures a rich introspective mood. Pitching down the vocals a bit ads the the anthemic feel, it’s just a song that you can;t help but connect with. Undulating synth riffs playing against deep booming kicks whit that heartfelt vocal is an amazing combination. The reMix EP can’t come quick enough.

[MP3] Jupiter reMixed by Mr. Gonzo

Jupiter

French Nu-Disco producer Mr. Gonzo is on a roll right now. Hot on the heels of his storming new single with Romuald, Gon Be A Thrill, his is the first reMix to break cover from the long rumoured Jupiter reMix album. The amazing Parisian ElectroPop duo have roped in a star studded cast to rework their Juicy Lucy album of last year. Mr. gonzo will be rubbing shoulder with the likes of Little Boots, Yan Wagner, Para One & Tacteel, JBAG, Juveniles, The Supermen Lovers, Steve Moore, Marius, and Colour Vision, which is quite scary company. Let’s see how he does.

Elliot Uppercut, one of the standouts on a stand out album, is the track Gonzo gets to grips with and fully delivers on smooth and sexy French Touch Disco. Despite being quite high energy, Mr. Gonzo manages to keep things on a laid back tip using lush synths and a sliding Disco bassline to their fullest. Amélie’s vocals sound as sweet as ever as the glide over. The synths in this reMix are so think, they melt into the track like chocolate, creating this delicious Disco ooze. This is a track mirrorballs were invented for. It’s so brilliant it’s like an audio lens-flare

Jupiter’s Juicy Lucy reMixed will be released 18th March.

[Audio] Adeyhawke’s ‘Storm Runner’

Adeyhawke

It’s been a while, but Irish SynthWave/Dreamwave/Nu-Disco dude Adeyhawke is back and fighting fit. As the producer jumps back into our consciousness he hits the ground running with his latest tune, Storm Runner. It’s a huge tune, and exciting tune, a tune that definitely makes us remember what we’ve been missing. And, hopefully, a tune that signals a resurgence of Adeyhawke activity.

Storm Runner is a beast of many faces. Blending the epic quality of SynthWave, the groove of Nu-Disco and the infectious hook of Indie-Electro, Adeyhawke serves up a smörgåsbord of gritty powerful hooks and sparking synth riffs. It’s got a cool retro feel, especially in some of the soaring solos, but a very contemporary production style, bringing all these emotionally resonant electronic music styles into the big room for thousand-yard-stare dance-off. We really can’t stop listening to this one.

[Audio] Reflex reMix DJ Cam

DJ Cam

Uncomfortable was a single from French legend DJ Cam we featured around this time last year. At the time the release was slated to include a reMix from one of our favourite bands in the world, fellow French ElectroPoppers Reflex, but it never showed up (not in any official capacity anyway). Now, a year later Cam is  bringing out a remix album, succinctly titled reMixed, and low and behold here’s Reflex’s work.

Reflex utilise their penchant for buzzing, funky, synths to it’s fullest here dropping a bucket load of raw analog Disco goodness. Mixing up Chris James’ soulful vocals with Relfex’s galactic synthetic soundtrack results in something a little more exciting than previous reMixes. Arpeggios fly left and right, amid swirling clouds of thick synth tones as Reflex’s SynthPop meets a groove laden Disco bassline. it’s so good I can’t even remember the others.

DJ Cam’s reMixed album is released 18th March.

[MP3] Auxiliary Tha Masterfader’s ‘Sweaty Disco Night’

Auxiliary Tha Masterfader

Would you like some of that Disco stuff? I hope so, ‘cos here comes Dutch Disco don Auxiliary Tha Masterfader with another track from his forthcoming Music For Discotheques EP. We already heard the Phunktastike’s reMix of the EP’s lead track Rule The Night, now we get a chance to hear more from the release with the hilariously camp and infectiously funky Sweaty Disco Night, you can download it too!

Big, big, synth bass and retro stabs rule this track. Punchy, with an irresistible groove, the bassline give the track a real gritty vibe and make it  hard not to move to. While this is going on samples of folks talking about Studio54 and a huge choral anthem play out over the top, raising the track’s fabulous factor to eleven. This one is strictly mirrorballs and feather boas. Loads of fun and showing off Aux’s production, which just gets better and better.
