[Audio] Ghost Beach reMixed by Summer Heart

Ghost Beach

Three days ago we told you the New York DiscoPop duo Ghost Beach would be releasing a track from their forthcoming reMix EP  every week. Three days ago! Three days ago we introduced you to Shook’s reMix of Been There Before. Three days isn’t a week, and here we are with Swedish DreamPopper Summer Heart’s take on Faded. Not that we’re complaining mind. “Bring ‘em on” we say!

To say Summer heart’s version of Faded was a blissful wave of synthetic dreams would be an understatement. Actually. Summer heart mixes up a little Nu-Disco with healthy doses of Chillwave and Dreamwave and moulds the song into a tide of reverb drenched snyths. gritty, undulating synths stand back to back with chirpy Sci-Fi blips and speaker filling strings. Ghost Beach’s original vocal just lend the track another layer of drama. Another great tune form this EP, more to come from Penguin Prison, Gigamesh and Chad Valley.

[Audio] Aeroplane reMixes Pool

Pool

In his second reMix of the week Aeroplane keeps up the pressure. Turning his attention to German Indie band Pool’s Flex single, Vito delivers another slice of upbeat ElectroPop, this time weaving some of the original’s guitars into the mix and slowing things down a little, whilst sounding faster.

Normally we’d rather  he excised the guitar, but right here it sounds amazing. Keeping that funky little lick actually makes the track. This is nicely juxtaposed by a growling analog bass and the brightest of synth riffs. This has the result of turning the hazy Folk of the original into an infectiously catchy Pop tune. Once again Aeroplane has taken a mediocre track, and turned it into gold. Surely it’s time for an Aeroplane reMix album?

[Audio] Kisses’ ‘The Hardest Part’

Kisses

Hello? It looks like LA ElectroPop duo Kisses are on Cascine now! When did this happen? I suppose we can’t know absolutely everything, but we feel like a certain someone should have told us about this. Anyhoo, it looks like the have a new album coming out, the follow up to their awesome The Heart Of The Nightlife, and the freshly revealed first single is The Hardest Part.

Produced by Pete Wiggs from Saint Etienne and Tim Larcombe, who’s worked with Sugababes amongst others, the duo who produced Kisses’ last single, Funny Heartbeat, The Hardest Part is classic ElectroPop with a big 80s chorus. With their typical Tropical Indie-Pop sheen over some big nostalgic Pop magic Kisses, one again, deliver the best in fun, catchy, Pop tunes. And with all the best 80s tunes, it;s an optimistic sounding song, that hides a bittersweet melancholy within it’s lyrics. We’re really looking forward to finding out what the album holds.

[MP3] Strangeheart (ex-Young Digerati)

STRANGEHEART Single 1

Well, it’s official. as we speculated LA Indie-Dreamwavers Young Digerati are no more. Apparently after being dropped by Rocket Music Management (who we had dealings with are were abysmally incompetent) the guys went their separate ways. Where those ways will lead is anyone guess. Except for frontman Jeff Thompson no guesses are necessary, he’s just delivered the first tune from his new project Strangeheart.

Strangeheart’s In Another Life is pure summery Indie-Pop bliss. Balancing playful guitars with shimmering, romantic synths and a  insanely catchy lyric. Seriously, if you listen to this track three times or more it will infect your brain for the rest of the day. Taken from Strangeheart’s forthcoming début EP, In Another Life is both bouncy and fun, and emotionally authentic. Proper LA grooves. We’ll be looking forward to Strangeheart’s EP.

[Audio] Yelle’s ‘L’Amour Parfait’

Yelle

One of our long term favourite French artists, and one of the best live acts in the world Yelle are finally back with a brand new single. It looks like tEPr isn’t around anymore, leaving Julie and GrandMarnier to carry on as a duo with, in the case of this new tune, a little help from Aeroplane. What this has resulted in is quirky ElectroPop gold that brings Yelle back to their 80s Pop roots.

Big undulating synths and a booming 808 beat produce something vintage Pop but with a contemporary Electro sensibility, which was always the best of Yelle. Julie engaging French vocals have always transcended the language barrier, even in a live situation, and allow them free rein on a hypnotic electronic soundscape with and 80s hook and a B-Boy beat and you have the recipie for a Pop winner. The single will come with reMixes from by Baadman, Sticky K, The Phantom and Ruben Mandolini . The title means ‘The Perfect Love’ BTW.

[Video] Róisín Murphy’s ‘Simulation’

This is the pretty long awaited video for Róisín Murphy single Simulation, which was released in August last year.

It’s a nice looking clip to accompany the House infused track, a little lacking in Ms. Murphy herself though,

[Audio] Thunderclaw

Thunderclaw

Completely out of the blue we are hit by yet another totally new talent. it;s always the most exciting time as a music writer, to be compelled to put down words about, not the latest release by whatever name brings in traffic these days, or by whatever PR person you’re trying to keep on the good side of, but by someone genuinely fresh. Enter Thunderclaw. He’s got four followers on SoundCloud right now, we’re hoping this little article can go some way to rectifying that.

Thunderclaw is Filip Järnmark, resident of Sockholm, which is home of some of the best electronic music on the planet so he’s in good company, and delving into his SoundCloud reveals a selection of tracks that straddle the gap between SynthWave and Electro-House, with a touch of Disco boogie. Magiccc is our favourite of his tunes. A driving Electronic track with a hypnotic synth hook that drags you along though four minutes of Disco infused SynthWave. Full of bright synth stabs and buzzing bass, this track was an immediate attention grabber. Voyage is another of his good ones, this time he brings a little hardcore Italo into the fold, mutating it into a grinding Electro monster. Relentless and pounding until it breaks into a soaring Sci-Fi lead riff, this track is night driving gold. this is one new producer we’ll definitely be keeping an eye on.

[Audio] Man Without Country reMixes Miike Snow

Miike Snow

This is epic. Welsh Electronica duo Man Without Country are set to follow the release of their début album Foe with an official album of their remix work, featuring reworks they’ve done for the likes of M83, Moby, Chad Valley, Active Child and this absolute monster of a track for Miike Snow.

Man Without Country (which is a bit mean to Wales really) deliver a remix of Miike Snow’s Pretender that manages to be both moody and exhilarating. With a strong mid-90s vibe to it, the track is loaded with big beats and growling synths, like Depeche Mode meets The Crystal Method, alongside Miike Snow’s heartfelt vocal. the result is a classic Indie-Dance track, just the right amount of melodic, just the right amount of raucous, that bodes very well for the rest of the reMix album.

Man Without Country’s RMX album is released 4th March but available to listen to on Spotify from 25th February.

[MP3] Moon Boots’ ‘No One’

Moon Boots

American Nu-Disco producer Moon Boots is a generous fella, always giving away free tracks. the man had an awesome 2012, where he really came into his own and carved out a name for himself, cementing his wider reputation. He’s kicking off 2013 in fine form with this new track, No One.

This one is a nice mix of Topical and House, mainly House though. Premièred on The Magician’s last mixtape, No One is a dreamy ol’ slice of late night Boogie. The ex- Hey Champ!-er lays down some silky smooth sounds over a classic 909 beat. Dropping in a silky vocal line is just the icing on the cake for this five minutes of warm 90s House. We’re hoping to hear a lot more from Moon Boots in the coming months, we’re sure he’s going to rock our ears.
