[Audio] Yelle’s ‘Complètement Fou’

yelle

Following the advance teaser, Bouquet Final, Complètement Fou is the first proper release from the forthcoming album of the same name from French ElectroPop trio Yelle. The band’s third album is released at the end of next month, The album has been coproduced by ubiquitous US producer Dr. Luke, and, more than with Bouquet Final, it shows on this lead single.

With a nice line in 90s Pop-House keys and pounding dancefloor drums, Complètement Fou still retains many of the French Electro tropes that we love Yelle for, and Yelle herself lets her personality shine though as always. Whether these elements are straining not to get lost in the shiny American Pop is a question we’ll consider when we get to hear the whole album. So far though, we’re enjoying the singles. Personally, we think Yelle would probably be better off without Dr. Luke (as anybody would!), but we’re still kinda excited to hear the album in it’s entirety.

Yelle

Amazing French ElectroPop outfit Yelle, still one of the best live acts we’ve ever seen, have just announced the release of their new album. To be titled Complètement fou, this will be the trio of Yelle, tEPr and GrandMarnier’s third studio offering and, so far, they have been getting better and better with each release. Check out the albums advance single Bouquet Final below (and yes, we know it’s been out on YouTube for a couple of weeks, but y’know, fuck lyric videos!).

So Bouquet Final bodes extremely well for the album. Kicking off with a coarse, crunchy, bit crushed beat the song soon evolves into a giddy, undulating, slo-mo SynthPop powerhouse. Huge grinding synths and a groaning bass wash in and out of the track as Yelle’s energetic vocal glides from sweet to epic. Feasting a nice line in twisted leads and an unrelenting pump, Bouquet Final is a great way to start Yelle phase three,

Whilst hard at work on their third album, French ElectroPoppers Yelle recorded this video of them covering Mathématiques Modernes A+B=C from their 1981 album Les Visiteurs Du Soir.

Expect pulsating synth bass, chirpy keys and and interestingly striking but incredible simple video.

[Audio] Yelle’s ‘L’Amour Parfait’

Yelle

One of our long term favourite French artists, and one of the best live acts in the world Yelle are finally back with a brand new single. It looks like tEPr isn’t around anymore, leaving Julie and GrandMarnier to carry on as a duo with, in the case of this new tune, a little help from Aeroplane. What this has resulted in is quirky ElectroPop gold that brings Yelle back to their 80s Pop roots.

Big undulating synths and a booming 808 beat produce something vintage Pop but with a contemporary Electro sensibility, which was always the best of Yelle. Julie engaging French vocals have always transcended the language barrier, even in a live situation, and allow them free rein on a hypnotic electronic soundscape with and 80s hook and a B-Boy beat and you have the recipie for a Pop winner. The single will come with reMixes from by Baadman, Sticky K, The Phantom and Ruben Mandolini . The title means ‘The Perfect Love’ BTW.

Yelle reMixed by Gold Fields

yelle

Here’s an unexpected treat, French ElectroPop stars Yelle’s Chimie Physique given a thorough funky going over by Australian Indie-Electro posse Gold Fields. The result is far more Cosmic Disco that we would imagine from a meeting of these two outfits, but it was totally rocked out Friday.

Clocking in at a pretty epic seven minutes, Gold Fields reMix is a big sweeping electronic Disco odyssey. Catchy as hell, both vocally and via the multitude of warm boogie riffs going on in this track. Everything from analog Disco bass to big House piano to SynthPop lead lines, all rolled into a tune you can;t help moving to. At three and a half minutes most tracks have already peaked, but that when Golf Fields only just get going with a huge breakdown that kicks back in with full force. Enjoy.

Coloureds reMix Yelle

coloureds yelle

GrandMarnier and tEPr should be worried, apparently they’ve been replaced in Yelle but Oxford’s Electro noise terrorists Coloureds. I don’t think anyone is going to make it out of this alive.

Blue and Yellow apply extra helping of chainsaw synths and machine gun percussion to the track that growls away in the background like an angry cyborg beast while Julie’s vocals carry on seemingly unaware of their fate. Once again Couloureds manage to sit in the middle of the ‘bastard hard Electro’ and ‘actually got a groove’ ven diagram as their track strides onto the dancefloor swinging it’s big metal balls.

Viceroy reMixes Yelle

yelle

Here is San Francisco based Nu-Disco producer Viceroy’s entry in Yelle’s ‘Comme Un Enfant’ reMix competition.

The winner will have their track appear on a forthcoming Yelle release, and Viceroy definitely show himself to be a front runner. Taking in a laidback piano groove, he seems to rein in the song, chilling it out. Not even the growling bass riff can stop this tune from being super smooth.

Yelle reMixed by Cut Slack

We’ve been keeping our eyes on Cut Slack for the last couple of months, we definitely think this Portuguese producer is going to be giving us some awesome tunes in 2012.

He’s easing us into it with this new reMix of the awesome Yelle’s ‘Comme Un Enfant’, where he’s got a perfect grasp of the groove of the track and works it to his advantage with heaps of funk bass and big retro chords. We’re keeping our eyes on Cut Slack, now you know you should be too, he’s going to be a Nu-Disco name in the coming year.

Yelle reMixed by Juveniles & Second Date

yelle

Later next month Frances best ElectroPop trio Yelle release a reMix EP of ‘Comme Un Enfant’, from their awesome ‘Safari Disco Club’ album.

Kitsuné’s latest outfit, Juveniles provide the first mix, getting their quirky Indie-Electro vibe on with a bouncy stripped down synth Disco sound played off against stuttery Indie guitars.  Second Date’s take on the track introduces some deep tribal sounds to the track. their version makes for a nice mix between proggy Electro and ElectroPop and a little Tropical flavour.
