She’s The Queen reMixed by Lightwaves

She's The Queen

Fresh from walking home with the big one at the electronic rumors awards ElectroPop duo She’s The Queen have dropped a brand new reMix of ‘The Way’ by  Lightwaves (Jan from Yes Giantess!).

Jan has taken the soulful Pop track and turned it into an Ibiza monster that would make Ministry Of Sound proud. Straight to the big room, the reMix balances Nu-Disco with a Balearic euphoria and some nice Electro inserts. Despite the vocal manipulation Lightwaves has managed to keep the feel of the track intact, but give it a new lease of superclub life. With the right push this tune could be storming the clubs this summer,

She’s The Queen self-titled début EP is out now.

Jules Schimmer reMixes Aaron Alexis

Aaron Alexis

Ney York ElectroPop artist (and general renascence man) Aaron Alexis’ ‘Heart Box Smasher’ was an intimate, eclectic, slice of SynthPop we featured last summer, well that was until Manc retro synth man Jules Schimmer got his hands on it. Now it’s a huge slap of ‘80’s electronic Pop.

Schimmer brings that particularly ‘80’s combination of bouncy and moody to the tune with a slight Italo flavour and some deep pads. Crafting a tune that could easily work as the theme tune to a mid-‘80’s TV show about a crime fighting Casanova, the combination of Aaron’s soulful vocals and Jules’ RoboPop is something that works amazingly well. We need to hear more from these two, separately, and maybe more together too.

‘Futurecop! The Movie’ approaches release

Futurecop!

As the release of Futurecop!’s new album ‘Futurecop! The Movie’ draws close, the guys have dropped another taste of what to expect.

The album is made up of mostly epic instrumentals, some new, some versions of Futurecop! tracks we all know and love. The new versions of existing tracks sound a bit beefed up and the album, across the board, sees Futurecop! expressing their Nu-Disco and Electro-House side. In contract to their recent ElectroPop singles and the amazingly Poppy, Japan only, album ‘It’s Forever, Kids’, this is classic Futurecop!, the meeting of dirty Electro and those ‘80’s soundtrack peices the hit you with a rush of emotion. Whether you look at this album as the soundtrack to the movie in Futurecop!’s head, or (finally!) a collection of Futurecop!’s works from the last few years, ‘Futurecop! The Movie’ just shows what a force of nature these two have been in retro synth music since 2008.

Futurecop! – Super Saiyan

‘Futurecop! The Movie’ is released 23rd January at futurecop.co.uk and everywhere else on the 24th via Keiz Beats.

We Are Russians!

WeAreRussians

We just commented last week about how much good stuff there is coming out of Russia these days, and to prove it website/label/community WeAreRussians have released a free compilation of Russian electronic artists.

The whole eighteen track album is top quality, practically every track is a winner and whilst the collection keeps quite a retro synth feel is spans quite a few styles. Lovinsky, represented here both alone and partnered with Quasars and Sohight are all artists we’ve featured before, highlighting their slick Dreamwave and Nu-Disco sounds and they sit on the album alongside new-to-us acts like Ziroberto and Valotihkuu who bring a more Funky side and some soundtrack atmospheres respectively. From these SynthWave sounds to epic Electro-House and introspective Indie-Electro WeAreRussians volume one just reinforces out opinion that Russia is definitely one of the places to look to for the next big synth acts.

Lovinsky – Dreamcatcher

Quasars And Lovinsky – Made In The 80’s

Sohight – Boys (Original Mix)

Ziroberto – The Future

Valotihkuu – Travelling

Short Circuit reMixes Young Empires

Young Empires

From the glut of reMixes of Young Empires’ ‘Enter Through The Sun’ we’ve been inundated with recently, Short Circuit’s was actually the first I heard about, and the one I was most looking forward to hearing.

It doesn’t disappoint either. With a melodic refrain that is pure B-Boy Electro injected into Short Circuit’s RoboPop the mix delivers a rich, thick synth backing and a Disco beat for the piercing, icy lead lines to bodypop all over. It totally changes the feel of the track, for the better.

Lueur Verte

Lueur Verte

Frenchman Michael Brun, otherwise known as Lueur Verte, makes some of the richest retro SynthWave you’ll have heard in a while.

Steeped in Italo and ‘80’s Sci-Fi soundtracks Lueur Verte creates brooding, atmospheric synth peices and then takes a leaf out of fellow countryman’s Jean-Michel Jarre’s book with intricate melodies and solos. Check out his latest track, ‘Last Flight’, which is so dark future it boarders on EBM at times. Evocative stuff!

More reMixes of The Tapeaters’ ‘Don’t You Dare’

the-tapeaters

In addition to the already posted Silenx reMix, Russian ElectroPop duo have dropped a bunch of new reMixes of their track ‘Don’t You Dare’ The Tapeaters.

First up fellow Russians Sohight deliver a funky ‘80’s inspired version with a nice Moog Funk bass and big retro sounds that have The Tapeaters sounding a little like Tesla Boy. There’s some amazing electronic music coming out of Russia right now and Sohight are another name to watch. Spanish producer Nelue’s take on the track starts off as a  slick exercise in Disco Funk but soon evolves into a bright, shimmering, quite classic sounding ElectroPop track with some really emotive synths.

Dusty Digital reMixes R3set

r3set

Dusty Digital is a Boston based producer who you may remember from his entry in the Fear Of Tigers ‘Pippy Longsrump’ reMix competition. He’s not turned his attention to the title track from R3set’s ‘Runaway’ EP.

Dusty is developing a really interesting sound. On first listen he seems to be on Nu-Disco or Dreamwave tip, but there’s a lot more going on under the hood. In this reMix there are strong elements of both ‘80’s Pop and early ‘90’s House, in the melodies and basslines respectively, which makes for something a bit fresh sounding to compliment R3sets ethereal ElectroPop track. Dusty Digital has evoked a new atmosphere for the track, one of distance befitting the subject matter.

Oliver’s new EP

oliver

Oliver (A.K.A.  Oliver ‘Oligee’ Goldstein and Vaughn ‘U-Tern’ Oliver are back, fresh from their placing in our top reMixes of the year with a brand new EP for Kitsuné Music.

The move to Kitsuné sees them, appropriately, mixing a little dirty Euro House into their Nu-Disco and Dreamwave sound to produce a massive club anthem that is sure to explode this month. reMixes come from Punks Jump Up with a synthetic Funk mix full of robotic synths and mechanical beats and Kris Menace’s Black Van project, who turn in an unsurprisingly big room version led by a twisting bright lead line. The other original track on the EP, ‘Walk With Me’ closes the record with Oliver’s LA Disco roots in full effect and a summertime vibe.

♫ Oliver – Dirty Talk (Punks Jump Up MBO mix)

♫ Oliver – Dirty Talk (Black Van reMix)

The ‘Dirty Talk’ EP is released 16th January.
