[MP3] Fire Flowerz’s new mini-album

Fire Flowerz

Italian dirty Disco duo Fire Flowerz have just brightened up your week with the simple generous act of dropping a brand new mini-album, for absolutely free! These guys have been on our radar for a while now dealing out a bunch of top notch reMixes and collaborations with the likes of NAPT and Birdee, and now with the release of Beats Per Minute we get to revel in a solid chunk of original work.

Beats Per Minute, their first substantial release, contains seven tracks of scandalously grimy Disco and red-raw Funk. The release eases you in with My Fire, a slick Nu-Disco tune with a poolside vibe made all the more apparent with some enchanting talkbox work. Followed by the walking heavy bassline and sample Disco of Kisses In Technicolor Don’t let these sultry tunes fool you though, this release gets more intense as it progresses. L’Amour brings a little hypnotic Italo flavour to the album with it;s big ebb-and-flow synths and evolving Disco bassline. After an Interlude, Sheets reins in the weighty Funk with a laid back, almost R&B sound for lazy summer days. Don’t get too comfortable though, Impeto In G Minor delivers the release’s energetic high point, a brilliantly executed, if a little too short, example of cut-up Disco and big beats. Beats Per Minute’s final track, I Can’t Stay is a bit of an anomaly, with it’s mid-90s Dance take on Disco, but one that weirdly works really well. Maybe Big Beat,  Disco grooves, and wailing solos are the next big thing? All-in-all, Fire Flowerz have dropped a blinder of a début, and at this price you can’t say no.

[Audio] Cinnamon Chasers’ new EP

Cinnamon Chasers

Long time readers of electronic rumors will know that hands-down one of our favourite producers is the enigmatic Cinnamon Chasers. Spanning Dreamwave, Nu-Disco, SynthWave, Italo and House, Cinnamon Chasers has spent the last five years putting out some of the most consistently impressive records in electronic music. Here is a man who effortlessly juggles emotion and groove to deliver track that both compel you to dance and give you goosebumps. He’s gearing up to release his new EP, Time.Body.Tears, next week and we can give you an sneaky listen to some of it right here.

Time.Body.Tears serves up five tracks, each of them so washed in retro synth Boogie that it’s hard to pick favourites. The EP kicks off with Flight, an undulating tune that rolls along on thick 80s synth bass and a digital sax hook straight out of Jermaine Stewart’s We Don’t Have To Take Our Clothes Off. It’s totally infectious and if anything is going to draw you into the rest of the EP it’s Flight. Body is up next and brings the release a dose off moody dancefloor vibes. A deep slice of piano led House, Body is washed in a hint of mid-90s Orbital-esque euphoria in it’s punchy bass, vocal instrumentation and dubby piano that makes for a pleasingly nostalgic experience. Just in case Body got you too Chilled, it’s swiftly followed by the high-octane Electro-Italo-Cosmic-Rock of Tears. Tears produces the EP’s energetic mid-point rocking an almost perfect combination of Italo bass, breakin’ beats, rousing chords and just the tiniest hint of Ultravox’s Midge Ure. Time brings us, stylistically, back from the 80s to the 90s once more with a slice of classic sounding dance, once again hypnotising us with a big piano hook on this slo-House Jam. Proving the EP’s nod to Tropical Disco, Time has one foot on the beach, the other in distant galaxies. The EP closes on Friends, a massive emotional finale, mixing up Cinnamon Chasers’ resonant chords with a layer of gritty, dirty Disco-House, all chainsaw synths and twisted vocoding. Leaving you with a truck load of Funk, Friends is pure heavyweight French style Nu-Disco with an 80s Electro-Soul heart. Cinnamon Chasers haven’t let us down yet, continuing to be one of the best in the game. Naturally, this is a highly recommended release.

[MP3] Du Tonc’s ‘Rise’

du-tonc_thumb_thumb

And the unstoppable MiGHty mOUse and Matt Van Schie’s Du Tonc juggernaut keeps on going. This is the third track in as many months from the newly formed duo. With this new track, Rise, these guys appear to have just invented Goth-Italo-Disco. Check it out, you’ll see what we mean.

So, instantly, we can’t help but feel that Rise is channelling Bauhaus’ Bela Lugosi’s Dead, especially with the bass pattern, sped up a few revs and run through a Robo-Disco machine. On top the eerily familiar bassline a swathes of plucked Dubby guitar licks, shuffling purcussion and haunting wolf howls swirl about the track alongside arpeggios and a solid dancefloor kick making for a weird combination of the haunting and the Cosmic. Matt’s moody croon on this track just adds to the atmosphere. Prepare yourself for the spooktastic Hammer Horror chorus. It;s been a long time since anyone made Goth this funky.

[Video] SevdahBABY & Djixx’s new single

SevdahBABY Djixx vs Jakarta Ti mi se tako svidaš Spiritus OFFICIAL VIDEO YouTube

This is Ti Mi Se Tako Sviđaš (Spiritus), the new single from Serbia’s greatest export SevdahBABY & Djixx. Borrowing a little from 80s Yugoslav Pop Funkers Jakarta’s single Spiritus, Ti Mi Se Tako Sviđaš (Spiritus) sees SevdahBABY & Djixx in serious Disco mode loading the track with electro toms, twisted Moog bass and some slick talkbox action.

The video is suitably 80s, both in set up and lighting. Looking like a moving 80s VHS thriller cover meets Disco freakout, the video fits the track perfectly.

[MP3] Final DJs’ ‘Feel Your Breath’

final-djs_thumb_thumb_thumb

Another new single from Final DJs?!?!? They just don’t quit do they? Whenever Germany’s finest release a new tune it;s always a guessing game as to whether it’ll be SynthWave Final DJs or Nu-Disco Final DJs, whether it’ll be sweeping cinematic synths or groovy Tropical riffs. This new tune, Feel Your Breath, featured on the We Re-Created Disco, is a little of both, but leaning toward mirrorballed dancefloors.

Before we talk about the rest of the song, we just have to mention the insane, emotional, spine-tingling breakdown in this tune. A shuffling, rich, build with gentle vocal tones that is prefect for winding up excitement on the floor. Feel Your Breath itself is pure Final DJs’ epicness. A bouncy bassline is set off with soaring synth solos that take you on a journey throughout the track. One of this duos finest to date, Feel Your Breath is every bit for your mind and your ears as it is for your feet. The complete package.

[MP3] Poolside’s ‘If We Make It’

Poolside

Here’s some sunkist summer vibes for your weekend courtesy of LA Dreamwavers Poolside. The duo are in the process of finishing up their second album, the follow up last year’s awesome Pacific Standard Time and If We Make It is to be out first taste, and the first single, from the new record. It also features on the forthcoming Scion A/V compilation Scion 10 Series Music Release.

If We Make It is sunshine bliss in a track. Sprinkled with a hint of nostalgia, the track floats along on a cloud of fluffy synths and airy vocals. No quite as Disco as previous offerings from this pair, If We Make It is more introspective, more dreamy and doesn’t suffer for it. A tune for relaxing in the sun, reminiscing with friends and generally not having a care in the world. Excited for the album..

[Audio] Clancy reMixes Ellie Goulding

elliegoulding-1

The UK’s best kept secret, Clancy, has done it again. He’s just dropped his reMix of Ellie Goulding’s cover of Alt-J’s Tessellate. The track getting an official release soon, and you should definitely snap it up as Rich one again proves why he’s one of the most exciting producers around right now.

This one’s actually got a little Disco flavour to Clancy’s House, provided by a big squelchy bassline that adds a little swing to the Jackin’ beat. Clancy’s has seriously got a knack for atmospheric and infectious House, his tunes are always swirling clouds of warm tones and hypnotic hooks. Using just the right amount of the vocal, Clancy build a little dancefloor tension throughout the track, to keep thing interesting and deliver proper intoxicating deep grooves.

[Audio] French Horn Rebellion’s new single

French Horn Rebellion

New York DiscoPop duo French Horn Rebellion really are going from strength to strength this year. After a pretty long period of quiet, so far they have hit us with Poster Girl, Girls and Friday Nights, all badass tracks, all in the space of a few months. Well, they’re not letting up yet with this, the release of their new single Dancing Out, featuring Jody Watley & Young Empires.

Dancing Out picks up where their previous singles left off. One again it’s all about good-time and no-worries. Injecting a little more of a retro SynthWave flavour into their funky Pop tunes, French Hoorn Rebellion bring the nostalgia along with their carefree dancefloor sound. Watley and Young Empires’ call-and-response vocals are cute, the beats are strong and the synths bounce along in a pleasingly 80s way. Another top tune from French Horn Rebellion.
