Lenno reMixes The Knocks & Fred Falke

the-knocks-fred-falke1

Finnish producer Lenno is definitely one of our favourite producers working right now. His big room Nu-Disco sound, from a club point of view, is absolutely killer. When we heard he would be reMixing The Knocks & Fred Falke’s Geronimo, easily one of the tracks of the year, we were more than interested, and the track lived up to our expectation, being our favourite of the reMixes.

It’s up on Lenno’s SoundCloud now, so if you’re somehow one of the few stragglers who haven’t picked up the single at Beatport, this’ll convince you. Lenno brings his big sound to an already massive tune and the result is dancefloor genius. I hate comparing Lenno to Madeon, but if Madeon is fucking off to join his new Brostep friends, then Lenno is the man who’s name should be on your lips. No-one drops huge, complex Disco House like Lenno. I can’t wait to play this track out, a slice of funky euphoria.

Pat Lok’s new single

pat-lok

Today Canadian Nu-Disco guy Pat Lok releases his new single, Remember, on Frances excellent On The Fruit Records. We caught a listen to the original version back in March, it’s a floaty, spacey slice of electronic Disco with a dreamlike quality that wraps you in it’s funk warmth. Now the track has a full release with some pretty awesome reMixes.

reMixes come correct from fellow Canadians Sp00nfed and British production duo of Glyn Cosford from ICOMPUTE and Tronik Youth’s Neil Parnell, otherwise known as Wayving. Sp00nfed do a good job of keeping the dreamy vibe but Housing things up a little, morphing the laid back Disco into Laid Back beach House. Laying a little piano riff and some piercing synths Sp00nfed get right inside your head with this one. Pure funky dancefloor bliss. Wayving’s take on Remember is a rich, full, Disco experience, don’t let the toytown synth riff fool you, this is big tune. Riffing off ‘90’s House, Wayving lay down a solid groove guaranteed to move you.

Sohight’s ‘Get It Right’

Keiz Beats are once again releasing the new record from the Russia team up of Sohight  and Cheevy. Sohight has been killing it with every release me drops recently, especially when teamed up with Cheevy’s vocals and this new tune, Get It Right, is no exception.

Following on from their last couple of releases, Get it Right certainly gets synthesizer funk right. It’s a flashy mirrorball tune, packed with emotion and heartfelt passion. Occasionally veering into ElectroPop territory, Get It Right brings twisting Moog Funk, slick Disco, SynthWave chords and a catchy as hell vocal to the mix and spits out a Sohight’s best tune to date. reMixes come in the form of Xtrafunk’s laid back beach party Disco sounds, complete with fantastic synth soloing. Follow Me who turn up the SynthWave for a full on ‘80’s Italo fest and La Zebra piano driven ‘90’s House/Disco hybrid alongside work from Patchwork and Stubbs. The Get It Right single package is full of floorfillers and party starters, you should get involved.

TheLook’s new EP

thelook

Neonized’s latest release comes from Spanish Nu-Disco rising star TheLook. Tracks from the Nightwaves single are already making waves with tracks from the package already getting play from the likes of A.N.D.Y., Jeremy Glenn, Douze and DCup. The single holds two originals and a bunch of reMixes, all of which are top quality.

Nightwaves is a slick-as-all-hell Disco tune with some nice nods to ‘90’s House. A relentless funk drives the track powered by a body moving digital bassline Nightwaves combines the best of robo Disco with a soulful side guaranteed to move you on the dancefloor. You Can Dace, the tracks flip side takes a more House-based approach, there’s loads of Chicago overtones here, and a hook that will be stuck in your head all day. Amongst the reMixes you’ll fine these gems from Freak You, who delivers a ponding piano-led progressive mix, energetic but deep, that is an intoxicating call to dance, and Canada’s Pat Lok turns in his Lawn Sprinkler Dub (which we presume is names for the shuffling percussion) which also channels a strong ‘90’s vibe. Whist we were expecting something a bit more Disco from Mr. Lok, we can’t say we’re disappointed with his awesome ‘90’s Rave tune. This EP is seriously worth checking out.

Ren Riz’s new tune

Ren Riz

Here’s a new tune from our friend Ren Riz. It’s been a while since we posted anything from this Australian producer but we felt compelled to write a little something about his new tune because, well, just listen and you’ll see.

Play Me Out is just so much fun. It’s hard to know what more to say about it than that. This is a big House track, loaded with ‘90’s tropes, that will have you grinning from ear to ear. From the vocal sample to the piano riff to the Chicago style bassline to the Rave organ. Play Me Out is pure party starting fun House, just love it for what it is.

Meridian reMixes M83

M83

I have to admit, I haven’t listened to M83’s stunning Midnight City for a while now, I think I just burn myself out on it. You know when you rinse a track so much it starts to become a bit dead, it looses something as you become desensitised to it? I think that’s what happened with me and Midnight City and it’s bjillion associated reMixes of wildly varying quality.

I feel slightly sorry for Belgian producer Meridian in this case. He’s massively late to the “let’s all reMix M83’s Midnight City” party. Everyone had an awesome time, got very drunk, puked on the carpet and went home leaving the place in a state. Meridian has just got here, which is a shame as his reMix is one of the better ones we have heard. A pumping club powerhouse that plays off the now famous riff and drags it straight to the middle of the dancefloor. Big synths and surprisingly slick production rocket this track to the top tier of the Midnight City pile. It’s just a pity the pile is a bit played out.

Ali Jamieson’s ‘Seagulls’

alijamieson

Most of the time Ali Jamieson if feeding you tunes through electronic rumors in his capacity as PR for some of London’s top dance music labels. This isn’t the first time, however, that he has graced these pages directly with his own music, his track seem too few and far between though, so it;s good to see he has another release in the offing. Out next week on Empire State Recordings is his new single Seagulls.

Seagulls is a smooth as hell House track that draws from both ‘90’s Dance tracks and Disco & Funk to create a laid back dreamy vibe with groovy overtones. The scuffling percussions and FM bassline lend the track a distinct early ‘90’s feel with an almost Orbital quality to it. This is accompanied by some soulful soloing that gives the track a loose Disco element that surprises when it kicks in, but soon feels like a natural part of the track. That’s some chilled cosmic sounds for a Tuesday morning.

Ben Mono & Idiotronic reMixed by Justin Faust and Housquare

Ben Mono & Idiotronic

Ben Mono & Idiotronic’s 1992 EP was released earlier this year. A deep ‘90’s influenced club track. Deep is a bit of an understatement really, the bass, the vocals, everything was such a low down groove. The EP is getting a reMix release next week with work from Rambla Boys, Voxels, Krmpck and these two gems from Justin Faust and Housquare.

Both mixed take things back to the ‘90’s, but in different styles. Faust plays on the deep Chicago vibe and brings it up to date slightly. A hypnotic hook dominates the track, and dominates your consciousness while it’s playing. You can help but move to this track, there’s something infectious about it that just demands, at the very least, a head nod. Housquare take a big ‘90’s post-Rave House track, all staccato riffs, vocal snatches and 909 snare rolls. This is pure nostalgia, and I’ll admit, puts a smile on my face. There’s just something about those sounds, and those techniques, that take me back.
