LIGHTS’ ‘Timing Is Everything’ video

LIGHTS new video, her first since February’s Banner clip is the third single taken from her excellent Siberia album. The catchy ElectroPop noise romp Timing Is Everything is a definitely a good choice for single material.

The clip was directed by Ken Galloway and is a colourful slick of kitsch that seems to fit LIGHTS personality well.

Shindu reMixed by Jerry Bouthier

Shindu

We last saw Belgian ElectroPop act Shindu releasing on Kitsuné last summer. their storming cover of Siouxsie And The Banshees’ Happy House went down a treat. Now the slimmed down two piece are back with a new single on Jerry Bouthier’s Continental Records which is already getting a ton of support from some of the coolest DJs ion the planet.

Just Go is a big, rousing, slick of European SynthPop, all vintage synths and sultry vocals. Alongside the Original and a reMix from the amazing Cyclist, Jerry Bouthier himself gets a look-in with a rocking Dub version that’s primed for the dancefloors. Spinning the best of the original out into a floor-filling five minutes, JB works the buzzing analog synth bass and baroque leads, bringing out their most euphoric qualities. Mixing in just the right amount of vocals in the chorus the track takes on a new, anthemic, quality. Expect to be hearing this one all over.

Shindu’s Just Go is released 5th November.

Scarlet Soho embark on European tour + free Kosheen reMix!

scarlet-soho_thumb

With the impending release of their awesome new EP, Solo OK, (which we reviewed here) Southampton based Indie-Electro trio, and one of the UK’s brightest ElectroPop stars, Scarlet Soho are hitting the road around Europe. Taking their well oiled machine of catchy synth hooks and memorable, emotive, lyrics to some of the continent’s hotspots to showcase tracks from the new EP as well as pleasing the crowd with their hits.

But that’s not all. Because the guys are feeling psyched about releasing the Solo KO EP and getting out there to play the tracks live, they are also letting us give away a pretty special tune. Bristolian dance legends Kosheen recently got on board with Scarlet Soho’s track Pedal To The Metal, delivering a complex and infectious rendition of the song. Loaded with jagged synth riffs and warm pads, alongside the refrain of “we hit the road” it’s the prefect track to launch Scarlet Soho’s tour, which culminates with an un-missable Christmas party in London. The tune is here to download for the cheap-as-chips price of one shiny email address. Now that’s a bargain!

beaumont’s ‘Vampire’ reMixes

beaumont

Well, this came as a bit of surprise. After months and months holed up with canned food and an impressive arsenal of firearms (we imagine), our boy beaumont has finally poked his head above ground just long enough to throw a couple of musical grenades our way. It seems that whist in self imposed exile he’s actually been getting his groove on with New York based singer Elle Pierre for what sound like it;s going to be a massive single.

It’s called Vampire, and right now we have reMixes from England’s finest Clancy and Detroit rocker BeatLoaf. Clancy delivers a slick-as-hell House tune. Everything about Clancy’s version is really warm and enveloping. Rich bass and subtle organ give this mix it’s base leaving loads of room for the Italo-esque arpeggios and the breezy piano hook. With a contemporary Disco production, but a nostalgic mid-9-0s House vibe, Clancy’s mix is a dream in the headphones. BeatLoaf keeps the original’s vocals more intact and works the track into a smooth dance track with an R&B flavour.  What starts off with a grinding urban beat ends up a sweeping House track before dropping back into something more ecclectic. This has definitely whetted out appetites for new material from beaumont.

GMGN & Dusty Digital

GMGN & Dusty Digital

Today Mozzarella Recordings drop their fifty-first (that’s right, fifty-first!) release. Passing fifty is quite a milestone for a label, so it’s nice to celebrate the occasion with something special scooping the catalogue number. MOZZ 051 comes courtesy of an artist we’ve been tracking for a while now, Dusty Digital, teaming up with GMGN for a a couple of deep SynthWave/House tracks and some killer reMixes.

The Starlite Paradise EP kicks off with two original tunes. Gotta’ Get Up opens the EP with a jump up House tune that immediately pushed the energy thought the roof. Revolving around a ringing Piano hook and a vocal sample repeated until it’s hypnotic, Gotta’ Get Up has all the trappings of a classic House tune. the EPs title track, Starlite Paradise, starts to push things into an almost Trancey arena, it may have a Disco-House groove, but much of this tune is pure Euphoric Trance. Dutch master Auxiliary Tha Masterfader provides a reMix of this tune. A sweeping SynthWave tune with hints of early Kavinsky and loads of lush vintage synth sounds. Gotta’ Get Up is tackled by ODahl who really brings the deep house flavour to the EP with stabbing synths an a low, square, House bassline which works perfectly with the diva vocal sample. Elsewhere on the EP you’ll find an alternate mix from Aux and Gotta’ Get Up as reMixed by Richard & Morris. A fine EP indeed.

Hercules And Love Affair’s ‘Release Me’

Hercules And Love Affair

Following Digalism’s stunning entry into the series, the next gang up for the honour of compiling a DJ-KICKS album is Hercules And Love Affair. Despite a relatively mediocre second album, the members of H&LA have been producing, collaborating and featuring on some of this years most amazing releases. As is the way DJ-KICKS things work, Hercules And Love Affair have a new original track in the mix, and Release Me give us the impression that the guys have  taken a lot from their various works this year and brought it back to H&LA.

Butler and Pistel really bring an early ‘90’s Pop vibe to Release Me, alongside some ecclectic synth work and retro House Piano. It’s the logical progression from both their past work and the collaboration with Moonlight Matters earlier in the year. Bringing a B-Boy beat and a hint of Electro Boogie to work with the gentle vocals creates a nice contrast, but what elevates this track to greatness is the liberal use of those all-important orchestral stabs.

Hercules And Love Affair’s DJ-KICKS is released 29th October on Studio !K7
