Futurecop!

Later this month, the UK’s SynthWave champions Futurecop! release their brand new single. A precursor to their forthcoming album, Hopes, Dreams & Alienation, the single features vocal work from Ricco Vitali from Cavaliers Of Fun and a whole host of reMix talent, including the likes of Lifelike and Stellar Dreams.

Atlantic 1997 is pure Futurecop!. Long time live favourite, the track us an uplifting rush of nostalgic synthesizer power. Waves of rich synths compliment the steady Italo Disco groove and produce the a dreamy 80s soundtrack. the disco swing of the track, combined with Vitali’s anthemic, and catchy, vocal gives the track a holiday sheen. It’s all carefree good times. French Disco underdogs Uppermost turn in a huge  and involving reMix of the track, wrapping it in lush, reverby, French Touch with a grinding synth bass. Polish outfit P.A.F.F. also deliver the goods with their reMix. their Hipstercop version rings out like an Indie-Electro summer anthem, complete with infectious chiming melody and big chorus. It;s an excellent single package and one that bodes well for the album.

[Audio] Goldroom & Mereki

Goldroom

Goldroom’s new jam is here and once again he’s roped in the best of the best to deliver the smoothest of sounds. Following on the cream of vocalists to grace Goldroom tracks comes the awesome Mereki, who we’ve features a few times here, to lend her dreamy west coast vibes to Only You Can Show Me.

Goldroom, who recently played his first gig with a live band, brings exactly the kind of carefree beach party Disco  sounds that have made him one of the top producers in the world right now. There’s a nice fat Synth Funk bass in the background on this one, rounding out those stardust lead lines and big pads that seem to rise from the most nostalgic part of your mind. Goldroom album in time for summer, that’s what we want, that’s all we’ve ever wanted.

[MP3] Let Em Riot reMixed by Arcade High

03 Let Em Riot Band Shot 01

Pittsburgh SynthWaver Arcade High, who you may remember making our top twenty songs of 2012 in the last electronic rumors Awards had delivered this sweet reMix of our very own Let Em Riot. Let Em Riot’s Say What You Need To Say first appeared on a SynthWave compilation a few months ago and caused quite a stir, immediately attracting a ton of attention for the album.

Arcade High’s take on the track is a beautiful whirlwind of dreamy synths and vintage drums. Using Let Em Riot’s vocals to their fullest, Arcade High wraps them in a star-field of sparking synths. Driving and gloriously nostalgic, Arcade High’s reMix just proves what we already knew, when Ryan Boosel works with vocals, special things happen.

[MP3] Clancy’s ‘Sleepless Nights’

clancy_thumb

Clancy’s on a roll right now. This time last month he delivered the Chicago House jam, How To Hold On To You, which is still being played round these parts, and this month he’s dropping another free tune. Now well and truly on the House tip, Clancy bring it smooth House for Sleepless Nights, a dance tune for insomniacs.

Sleepless Nights has got that deep, soulful, House vibe that you associate with late nights, hot summers and soft focus early 90s videos. Lavish low bass and synths rub shoulders with a groovy electric piano and the vocal sample fading in and out of the track list a ghost. A true midnight tune, this one is for that magical point in the night when the world holds it;s breath and you loose yourself in the music.

[Audio] College reissues classic début album

College

Sometime in the last year the world went Drive crazy. The PR email that landed in our Index for the new release from Valerie head honcho College uses the word ‘Drive’ six times. Which is milking it a bit too much, it’s getting embarrassing. The man known to you an me as the founder of the Valerie collective and one of the originators of the SynthWave scene, and now apparently known to the rest of the world as “Drive star College” (I didn’t know College was Ryan Gosling!), is rereleasing his classic début album Secret Diary alongside the Teenage Color EP .

Both releases will get a vinyl and CD reissue courtesy of Invada Records, the label of the legendary Portishead’s Geoff Barlow. There’s not much point me telling you what it sounds like, I expect everyone who reads this site has probably already got both releases, but of vinyl junkies out there this is a pretty cool opportunity to pick up these tunes on record. Well, worth picking up, ‘cos don;t get us wrong, David Grellier is an amazing artists, one of our favourite producers, we just think it’s time for everyone shut up about a movie released two years ago and get on with some new music. That would be amazing!

[Audio] Fabian’s back!

Fabian

We were just wondering the other day when LA finest Electro-House producer Fabian was going to drop something new on us. One of the top dogs in the Binary crew, Fabian has such a varied repertoire, you never know what his next track is going to be like, except that you know it’ll be funky.

A Million To One is his latest cut begins with a shuffling beat, building a 909 snare anticipation before it, unexpectedly, drops a big vocal hook on you. this is a track that’s built around a catchy lyric and a big Electro-House hook. Popping percussion give it a little retro edge, whist the majority of the track is straight-up banger. The uplifting vocal, combined with some Cosmic synths, give A Million To One a soaring quality that’s bound to have the kids reaching for the lasers all summer.

[Audio] Viceroy and Chela reMixed by Alfa

viceroy-dream-of-bombay-feat-chela_thumb

I know you’re full, but surely there’s room for one more morsel of  Viceroy and Chela’s frankly amazing Dream Of Bombay? Of course there is! Especially when it comes from Binary O.G. and moustache aficionado Alfa. There’s always time for Alfa!

Taking a different route with the track than the other mixes, from Bit Funk, Wax Motif and Bufi, Alfa creates on a head on collision between classic Daft Punk and Moog Funk. Pulsating, relentless synth bass and vocals transformed into groove laden melodies dominate the track. Big, sweeping synths take the track to the next level, giving the funky little licks a Cosmic vibe. It;s probably the most rough ‘n’ ready version of Dream of Bombay, and one that eschews the originals song structure, but it’s also a guaranteed floor filler. This’ll keep ‘em dancing!

[MP3] New tune from Touch Tone

Touch Tone

If your after some bombastic, theatrical Cosmic Disco to shake the cobwebs out of your head and kick off your week, then you’ve come to the right place. LA’s Touch Tone is back with another new tune. raw House beats and insane cinematic strings combine on Voilà, a track that worms it’s was inside your head and takes control like a Ceti Eel.

Once again Touch Tone nails the mood. A tad Housier than his precious offerings, Voilà has got a slightly cacophonous feel to it, like being confronted with a wall of punchy beats, drama fuelled strings and bouncy synth bass all coming down on your at once. But Touch Tone handles this wall-of-Disco-sound with ease, deftly bringing in one phrase after another, building the tension of the track, especially in the breakdown, until the hook kicks back in with such anticipation it’s almost a relief. Touch Tone has masterfully created a track that is not only a dancefloor winner, but manipulates the mood of the listener, drawing them into a sweeping optimist powered by nervous energy. Well, it is a homage to 70s Sci-Fi soundtracks!

[MP3] Jordan F reMixes Flume

Flume

There’s Chillwave in the air as SynthWave master Jordan F takes on electronica producer Flume, resulting in nothing we were expecting. Flume deliver quite a Lo-Fi, reverb drenched take on electronic music to begin with, and Sleepless, in all it’s incarnations, exemplifies their sound. Jordan takes it to the next level, while still retaining a little of the 80s guru we all know and love.

There’s hints of the Jordan’s SynthWave core in this tracks opening synths, and punchy bassline, but this is washed with the spacey Funk of Chillwave. The result is the best of both worlds. Leaning slightly more toward the Lo-Fi, Jordan wraps us up in waves of hazy synths and ghostly vocal snatches. It’s the most experimental thing that Jordan has released to date, and we’re loving it. When a producer like Jordan F becomes comfortable enough with himself, and his talents, to really indulge himself, beautiful things happen.
