[MP3] Say Lou Lou’s ‘Julian’; free reMixes

Say Lou Lou

Australian/Swedish Say Lou Lou duo are currently riding the wave of success with their current single Julian. In order to commemorate the critically acclaimed track, the girls are giving away a free reMix bundle featruing some choice cuts from some interesting artists. Here’s out favourite two.

Australian Nu-Disco Lancelot producer can always be counted on to deliver the goods, and with his take on Julian he’s gone off in a deep, almost Bleep, House direction and totally nails the sound. Pulsating subsonic basses and warm filtered organs swirl around the track. A lavish palette of rounded sounds fill every corner of the mix, spellbinding warehouse grooves and seedy beats create an air of danger and mystery that allows the girls vocal to take on a new, moody, aspect. The Bleep House riff is pretty killer too. Newcomers The Chainsmokers, in contrast, bring the full on, uplifting, dance-party sheen which teeters on the edge of cheesy when compared to Lancelot’s mix, but you can’t help but smile to this one. Those two aren’t all that included in the free bundle, you can download the whole thing here.

[MP3] Yuksek & Oh Land

yuksek_thumb_thumb

We’ve raved about French prodigy Yuksek’s new, Oh Land featuring, single a couple of times, but not yet been able to play you the track itself. Now the single is out, on Yuksek’s own new label Partyfine, the original (and best) mix and Yuksek’s own Club Mix are officially online for your listening pleasure, one of the catchiest singles of the year.

It’s hard to what to say about Last Of Our Kinds, kinda’ needs to be heard. It’s a swirling orchestra of drama and tribal drums. With a piano hook like a 70s musical, complete with “ahhh-ahhh”s and Oh Land’s 60s-esque vocal being the icing on the cake. It’s not your usual Electro track, it’s not your usual Pop track, but it works so well. Yuksek’s club take on the track delivers big beats to go with the quirky infectiousness. Stabby synths and a ton of clap and snare rolls, buzzing basses and deep electronic grooves, make this mix both a dancefloor smash, but quite ecclectic too. If you haven;t already you need to check out this single package right now.

[MP3] Rebeka’s ‘Unconscious’

Rebeka

Polish ElectroPop duo Rebeka, who you may remember from last year’s Stars on Discotexas, release their new album today. Hellada is a twelve track ElectroPop oddessy that comes out of Kamp!’s label Brennnessel, and to celebrate the release the duo are giving away one of the albums tracks, Unconscious.

If Unconscious is anything to go by, the album’s going to be areal treat. A distant, ecclectic slice of ElectroPop. With a gently synth backing, made up of pulsating bass and warm tones, the track creates a dreamlike, hazy mood with more than a little 80s SynthPop referencing going on. Iwona’s vocals glide over the song like slightly eerie silk. Loaded with surprising flourishes Unconscious brings some enigmatic, haunting, but irresistibly groovy, SynthPop into your life. Check out the album.

[MP3] Moon Boots’ ‘Love Strong’

moon-boots_thumb

Stop what you’re doing, there a new Moon Boots tune in tow. the American Nu-Disco sensation had dropped another poolside slice of hot hot Disco, this time with a slick House flavour. This guy has gone from strength to strength since we’ve been writing about him, and now every new tune he unleashed garners massive attention, and one listen to Love Strong will let you know it’s attention deserved.

Big House vibes are order of the day here, with a little side of Tropical purcussion. Epic diva vocal samples and an infections piano hook give Love Strong a pure early 90s flavour. This is one of those tunes that beautiful people dance in slow motion to somewhere, in fact, if there’s a video out money is on beautiful people dancing in slow motion. Don’t you want to be one of those people?

[MP3] Lancelot’s new single

Lancelot

You’ll Never Be Mine is the name of the new single from Australian Nu-Disco producer Lancelot. This guy’s We Can Dance single on Binary on binary was one of the dancefloor highlights of the year, and it;s looks like the man is picking up the pace on his release, as this free two track single comes just a few months after his last tune, the Housey Higher Ground.

You’ll Never Be Mine effortlessly mixes up Lancelot’s beach Disco and Chicago House skills. Leaning a bit more to the House side of things Lancelot leads us though an every evolving seven minutes of compelling dance. Always surprising, the track starts of with a warehouse vibe before becoming more and more euphoric and new layers of synths. Riffing off vocal snatches of S.O.S. Band’s Just Be Good To Me, especially in the big breakdown, You’ll Never Be Mine really does do the job of whipping up a solid dancefloor groove. It;s B-side, The Way I Feel About You, rocks a bit more of a fun, upbeat, vibe. Sounding slightly more 90s and slightly more soulful (using S.O.S. Band as it’s vocal core again) creating an impulsive retro dance track. This thing is free, and better than a lot of House wannabes out there right now, Lancelot’s got the skills, you should pay attention.

[Audio] Fear Of Tigers reMixes A*M*E

A-M-E

There’s definitely something going on at camp Fear Of Tigers. First we get a new track last month, Golden Age, now an official reMix for hotly tipped songstress A*M*E’s new single Heartless. All this new activity gives us hopes for the long awaited release of Fear Of Tigers’ Hypnerotomachia Poliphiliout, the follow up to 2009’s Cossus Snufsigalonica.

This reMix is pure classic Fear Of Tigers too. Epic, emotional, nostalgic ElectroPop full of those big chords and intricate electronic flourishes that we love FoT for. Taking A*M*E’s R&B flavoured tune and turning it into a huge 80s Power Pop synth epic is no mean feat, but Fear Of Tigers pulls it off with style. This tune is big.

[MP3] Little Boots reMixed by Cosmic Kids

little_boots

Hot on the heels of the storming release of her sophomore album Nocturnes, the queen of ElectroPop Little Boots has snuck out this funky little reMix of the album’s preceding single Broken Record. Not on the official release, this rework comes from LA duo Cosmic Kids.

Cosmic Kids bring a little Tropical flavour and dreamy, laid back, LA Disco vibe to the track. Never veering to far into full on poolside Disco thought, The duo keep things pretty Housey, with a burbling Acid bassline and pumping beat. Cavernous synths swirl around the track, weaving themselves in and out of ghostly vocal snatches, while the overall moody groove is offset with bright, shimmering chimes. Lush, spaces Disco/House sounds right here.

[MP3] Giorgio Moroder’s ‘Racer’

Giorgio Moroder

Have you been watching the Google I/O Keynote speech? Unless you’re a big old nerd like us, probably not watching a live stream of a developer conference. But if you have, you’d have seen the demonstration of Racer, a cross platform Chrome experiment. A slot racing game with an interesting soundtrack, it’s scored by Italo Disco legend. Mr. Giorgio Moroder.

Racer, named after the game itself, is a pounding SynthWave stormer. Loaded with hard hitting basslines and warbling leads. A driving force that lives up to it’s title, Racer is a high octane collision of euphoric leads and growling bass accompanied by melodic vocoding. Written for a racing game, the track has all the energy and excitement to keep the mood going. (Also, yes we’re using out favourite Moroder picture again, ‘cos it’s amazing).

[MP3] Box Of Wolves reMixes AfterParty

AfterParty

Our good friend, Canadian Chillwave prodigy Box Of Wolves has just quietly dropped a brand new reMix in the form of this workout of Swedish spacey electronic artist AfterParty’s Lonely Reggae. Check out the breezy electronics get morphed into raw dancefloor Funk and an atmospheric wall-of-sound.

Lonely Reggae is an introverted slice of quirky ElectroPop, so Box Of Wolves ups the groove quota somewhat with thick bass synths and a driving 909 beat. Box Of Wolves builds up the drama throughout the track, gradually layering on more and more sweet synth tones creating a gentle mood, but one with a dancefloor drive and understated majesty. Another killer mix from Box Of Wolves,

Lana Del Rey
