[Audio] The Alexanders & Anna Lunoe’s ‘Don’t Miss’

Anna Lunoe

Partyfine is just full of collaborations, isn’t it? most of them involving label boss Yuksek. So it’s no surprise that the imprint’s latest release, the forthcoming Don’t Miss, sees the man himself teaming-up with the one and only Alex Metric and Aussie producer-of-the-moment Anna Lunoe. Yuksek and Metric bill themselves as The Alexanders and the track broken ground on Annie Mac’ show this past weekend.

Don’t Miss is a cheeky House juggernaut. Driven by a mind-bendingly infectious Italo flavour bassline, the track is a full-on Electro-House stomper the like of which you don’t see so much these days, making us feel nostalgic for the Electro-House boom days of 2007/2008. Spikey synths and abrasive burbles rub shoulders with comfortable retro stabs and Anna’s mantra vocals to deliver one of those peak time anthems.

JD Samson & MEN

Here’s the first single from the new record from JD Samson & MEN. It’s been a couple of years since the ex-Le Tigre Samson’s MEN’s last album, Talk About Body, and we weren’t even sure if a new album was coming, so we’re pretty pleased about this announcement and this first tune, All The Way Thru, promises good things.

Co-produced with Yuksek (he gets everywhere these days, doesn’t he?), All The Way Thru is a lot slicker that we’ve previously heard from MEN. A more polished affair, it’s a slick mixture of Deep House, Progressive House and ElectroPop, with a bit of an Indie-Electro edge to it. What all that means is woody basslines, big synth sweeps and some really nice, heartfelt vocals. The single comes equipped with a Pop mix (!) and three other reMixes.

[Audio] Peter & The Magician’s ‘On My Brain’

The next offering from Yuksek’s Partyfine label was released this week. It’s the pretty eagerly awaited new single, and third collaboration, from Peter & The Magician. The duo, which of course consists of talented Electro producer Yuksek and mixtape creator The Magician, have previously given us Twist and Memory, both amazing tunes, how does On My Brain stack up?

Featuring the vocals of Sophie Galpin, the voice of Figure Of 8’s No One Cries For Me, On My Brain sees Yuksek adding a little 90s House vibe to his sound. Still instantly recognisable as Yuksek, especially in the tracks piercing leads, there’s an added warehouse vibe in the bass section and rave drones. Along with Galpin’s resonant vocals, that really makes the track what it is, it’s all neatly tied together by Yuksek’s not-inconsiderable production skills as he takes these disparate elements and creates a cohesive, and funky, whole. This one’s going to fill dancefloors.

yuksek_thumb_thumb

We’ve raved about French prodigy Yuksek’s new, Oh Land featuring, single a couple of times, but not yet been able to play you the track itself. Now the single is out, on Yuksek’s own new label Partyfine, the original (and best) mix and Yuksek’s own Club Mix are officially online for your listening pleasure, one of the catchiest singles of the year.

It’s hard to what to say about Last Of Our Kinds, kinda’ needs to be heard. It’s a swirling orchestra of drama and tribal drums. With a piano hook like a 70s musical, complete with “ahhh-ahhh”s and Oh Land’s 60s-esque vocal being the icing on the cake. It’s not your usual Electro track, it’s not your usual Pop track, but it works so well. Yuksek’s club take on the track delivers big beats to go with the quirky infectiousness. Stabby synths and a ton of clap and snare rolls, buzzing basses and deep electronic grooves, make this mix both a dancefloor smash, but quite ecclectic too. If you haven;t already you need to check out this single package right now.

We’ve got another reMix of Yuksek’s incredibly infectious new single, the Oh Land featuring Last Of Our Kinds, right here. Last Of Our Kinds is the lead track on Yuksek’s forthcoming new EP, Partyfine EP#1, out on Monday on Yuksek’s own new Partyfine imprint. This reMix by the mysterious La Félix isn’t featured on the EP, but provides a nice little Disco excursion on the version. Hat tip to Jakob at Disco Demons for turning us on to this one.

Last Of Our Kinds is a big, epic ElectroPop tune with a 60s twist and a cinematic chorus, La Félix effortlessly morphs it into a lazy summer Disco tune whist keeping all the original’s dramatic flair. Mixing the majestic piano with a warbling Disco bassline, La Félix crafts a solid, funky, backing with a  lush French Touch vibe, complete with a baroque synth line and chirpy strings. It’s actually a lot better than on or two of the reMixes on the single, it’s great to see what other people are doing with this sweeping vocal.

We’ve been waiting to post something from the forthcoming new Yuksek EP for a while now. Having had out hands on it for the last couple of weeks, it has been given pretty have rotation round these parts. Soon to be the première release on Yuksek’s own label, Partyfine, the EP two original tracks, Last Of Our Kinds, featuring Oh Land and Truth, featuring Juveniles, are both stunning slices of infectious Pop. Some may be put off by Yuksek’s move away from dance music with these tunes, but to our mind he’s always been better as a producer of massive Pop tracks anyway. Last Of Our Kinds in particular is an epic Pop tune with a 60s twist. To get a taste, and a dancefloor workout of the track, here the reMix from Michael Garçon.

Garçon give the track a dancefloor kick and Disco groove, which, when coupled witht the originals, big cinematic vocal, works really well. This mix has actually really grown on us. With it’s rolling Disco bass and vintage strings it manages to take the track to more mirrorballed surroundings while keeping all the songs rousing drama. Sam Tiba, Kasper Bjørke and Yuksek himself provide the other reMixes on Partyfine EP#1 in a host of styles, Michael Garçon provides the smooth Disco grooves.

[Audio] Yuksek reMixes C2C

C2C

Who’s up for another Yuksek reMix. Like the ambassadors tray loaded with Ferrero Rocher, Yuksek is spoiling us with practically a new reMix every week these days. Today’s subject is French turntablists C2C’s track Genius, which frankly is less scratch orchestra and more smooth Disco Funk featruing the vocals of Gush.

So smooth vocal Disco Funk is, of course, the prefect jumping off point for someone like Yuksek as he morphs the track into something typically French Pop Electro. The track rises and falls throughout it’s entirety as Yuksek brings you in and out of each section. A Morse code piano hook hammers away it’s message in the background while chunky synths and twisted vocal snatches flow through the tune. just when you think Yuksek has peaked it, he takes it higher. Classic Yuksek.

Griefjoy

There’s a new Yuksek reMix in town! The French Indie-Dance master has been brought on-board to deliver a version of fellow French quartet Griefjoy forthcoming single, Touch Ground, and he does so in style.  As you would expect, Yuksek takes this smooth Continental Indie and turns it into a big dancefloor smash. the combination of heartfelt French songwriting and powerful Parisian electro is an anthem in the making.

Yuksek turns everything up to eleven here. Each element of his mix is punchy and on-point. An exceedingly funky digital bassline powers this reMix along like an unstoppable Disco juggernaut, it’s a bass hook that just sticks in your head. There’s loads of synth touches to keep you happy, and that biting, raw, Electro feel that accompanies so much of Yuksek’s work. It’s the perfect backing for Griefjoy’s uplifting, sing-a-long vocal, and one we expect to be hearing on Indie-Dancefloors for months to come.
