Jupiter reMixes Midnight Magic

Midnight Magic

Brooklyn Indie-Disco orchestra Midnight Magic released the track Calling Out back in April as part of their What The Eyes Can’t See mini album. Now the live analog funk track has been given a new lease of life by Parisian ElectroPopsters Jupiter, who bring their unique musical slant to that track, and life everything they touch the reMix comes off sounding effortlessly cool and quirky as hell.

Dropping straight in with a 909 beat, we are soon treated to Jupiter’s own brand of Disco wrung through a C64 as the French duo add a little ChipTune to their eclectic mixing bowl of sounds. Giving the track a nice vintage buzz, and playing with the vocals until the become another instrument, Jupiter drag the track straight to the dancefloor, layering more and more elements until Calling Out becomes a retro dance frenzy. One again Jupiter have proven they aren’t afraid to go against the grain, mix things up a little, and just have fun with their reMixes.

Worship’s ‘Arcane’

Worship

This is a bit of a treat. While we are waiting for Swiss SynthWave producer Worship’s soon to be released new EP, here’s a brand new track he has delivered. And it has us more eager than ever for his new record.

Arcane is a SynthWave track at heart, but plays around with the sound in ways we haven’t heard before. Dropping a Speak & Spell vocal over the top of a relentless Italo bassline give the track the ability to swing from gritty Electro riffs to rich, rousing synth chords. The track is a nice mix of SynthWave, Kraftwerk and Italo, pumping and sweet at the same time. We’re hoping Worship’s new EP comes around some time soon.

Nude Disco & Paul Harris reMix Donna Lewis

Donna Lewis

OK, if there’s two things you know le love ‘round these parts it’s cheesy Pop and Disco, and London’s Nude Disco is fast becoming our go-to guy for slick combinations of the two. Especially when teaming up with Dirty Vegas’ Paul Harris. Remember Donna LewisI Love You Always Forever? Prepare to get funky with it.

Vern and Paul grab a hint Italo, a little of the Balearic, a sprinkle of Nu-Disco and mix it up with pitch perfect use of the vocals to create an instantly recognisable, but funky fresh, summer jam. An upbeat beach vibe and some dreamy swooping synths keep the track on the edge of blissful with the vocals chanted out like a mantra, it’s almost hypnotic.

From 1985, ItaloPop with Modern Talking’s You Can Win If You Want.

Lenno reMixes The Knocks & Fred Falke

the-knocks-fred-falke1

Finnish producer Lenno is definitely one of our favourite producers working right now. His big room Nu-Disco sound, from a club point of view, is absolutely killer. When we heard he would be reMixing The Knocks & Fred Falke’s Geronimo, easily one of the tracks of the year, we were more than interested, and the track lived up to our expectation, being our favourite of the reMixes.

It’s up on Lenno’s SoundCloud now, so if you’re somehow one of the few stragglers who haven’t picked up the single at Beatport, this’ll convince you. Lenno brings his big sound to an already massive tune and the result is dancefloor genius. I hate comparing Lenno to Madeon, but if Madeon is fucking off to join his new Brostep friends, then Lenno is the man who’s name should be on your lips. No-one drops huge, complex Disco House like Lenno. I can’t wait to play this track out, a slice of funky euphoria.

Voyager’s new single

voyager

Voyager are one of the best outfits to come out of the recent explosion of Russian Electro. This new single, released on Kiez Beat in August is a track we heard a few months ago and have been eagerly awaiting the release since.

Edge Of The Universe is deep , cosmic ElectroPop. A track that looks to the stars with it’s mood and works a little house piano and a sweeping SynthWave tone to it’s Electro sound. the track actually has much in common with space age FuturePop such as Code 64, but with more of a musical slant, as evidenced by the soaring solos, and more of a dancefloor friendly groove. The reMixes are actually a little disappointing,  the standouts both coming from fellow Russians The Frost and Folano, who rock ChipTune Disco and Italo sounds respectively. It’s a cool single though, the attention to detail in Edge Of The Universe is impressive, with little musical flourishes and atmospheres that interlock with the track. Cosmic ElectroPop? A new thing? We hope so.
