Fear Of Tigers’ ‘The Guestlist’ this week with College and you know who!

Fear Of Tigers – ‘The Guestlist’ 06/05/2011 = The week Fear Of Tigers’ special guest is Valerie Collective head honcho, and the man behind College, David Grellier and in a fit of insanity Fear Of Tigers invited me back on the show to pick my big tune of the moment, which had to be Ride The Universe’s reMix of Chromeo’s ‘Hot Mess’, alongside the usual best of ElectroPop, Dreamwave and Nu-Disco around.

Fear Of Tigers’ ‘The Guestlist’ 06/05/2011

As you probably know Ben from Fear Of Tigers ran the London marathon a while back to raise money for WSPA (World Society for the Protection of Animals). We’d like to extend our congratulations to Ben for an amazing job, you can read about it in this blog post, and there’s still time to get in with a quick sponsorship if you’re feeling charitable, check out his Just Giving page.

More from Flashlights’ forthcoming EP

Binary Entertainment have dropped another hint of what to expect from the forthcoming new EP by Flashlights.

‘Holidays’ is just one of the tracks on the ‘Hidden Behind Trees’ EP, due out in June. More of a traditional song than the previously heard ‘Glowing Eyes’ which displays Flashlights talents lie in catchy songwriting as well as soundcraft. Still loaded with their (fast becoming trademark) reverb, with this track Flashlights are still walking the line between Dreamwave and Chillwave. Which is actually a really interesting place to be, lacing the cosmic dreaminess of Chillwave with the retro synths and hooks of Dreamwave. I’m surprised no-one has done it before but when the EP comes out I get the feeling I’m going to be glad Flashlights found that niche for themselves.

Com Truise’s new EP

This week deep Electro Disco dude Com Truise released his new EP, ‘Fairlight’ on Ghostly International.

‘Polyhurt’ is taken from that EP, it’s a spaced-out, blissed-out jam loaded with analog synth Disco goodness and a smooth night time groove. This guy’s really leading the pack in the field of  synthesizer funk. With some epic playing that would make Jarre proud, a rolling bass, and some seriously cosmic lead lines this track is retro futuristic gold!

Ride The Universe’s reMix of Chromeo’s ‘Hot Mess’

Y’all can stop making reMixes of Chromeo’s ‘Hot Mess’ now! Ride The Universe  are in the house!

This is what Chromeo mixes should sound like. Like someone drove a dump truck full of synth Funk up to your house and deposited it’s cargo on your doorstep. Just listen to that talkbox riff, pure, addictive, genius! This track’s got everything you want to get the party started. Driving arpeggios to keep the energy up, the aforementioned talkbox riff, sweet 80’s chords and a wailing guitar to keep you inspired (take the Chromeo vocal track off the mix and it would make a very cool training montage track!). It feels like digitalfoxglove and the Fiero boys have really found their sound now and are really to step up to the plate and pate their place amongst the big hitters of Disco (was that two Baseball metaphors in one sentence? I’m English, I don’t even know what Baseball is!), melding 80’s soundtrack epicness with solid Disco grooves RTU are gonna’ be a force to be reckoned with. Like a sexy 80’s cop show theme with aspirations of tearing up the dancefloor this track this tune has something for everyone.

Now that track is going to rock your summer!

Futurecop!’s ‘Starworshipper’ reMix winner!

Futurecop! have announced the winner of their ‘Starworshipper’ reMix contest. The reMix, picked personally be Futurecop! to appear on their forthcoming EP is by MPM.

MPM’s mix was one of our favourites too. MPM runs a blog dedicated to old 80’s electronic soundtracks and the music it influenced at MPM Soundtracks which is one of our regular reads, it’s always entertaining and MPM digs up the best nostalgic videos. His reMix of ‘Starworshiper’ follows on in the blogs tradition with a slick 80’s/Dreamwave feel that puts the original song into cruise control.

Shelby Grey’s ‘Echoes, Dimensions & Waves’

Shelby Grey (A.K.A. Victor Palomo) releases new single ‘Echoes, Dimensions & Waves’ tomorrow.

Featuring the vocal talent’s of Ricco Vitali, the voice of Futurecop!’s ‘Venice Beach’ and the man behind Cavaliers Of Fun, ‘‘Echoes, Dimensions & Waves’ is a hypnotic ElectroPop track with an almost Balearic Nu-Disco groove. This is a real laid back tune, best suited for those sunset moments when the world is full of opportunity and promise, where it provide the prefect soundtrack. With that digital slap bass and smooth vocals this is the track I’d want to hear after a long night.

♫ Shelby Grey (Feat. Ricco Vitali) – Echoes, Dimensions & Waves

Not always sunrise? Don’t worry, this amazing reMix package holds a track for every mood. Beaumont is first up, with another downtempo electro track. The man could quite easily carve a solid niche for himself with track like this. Completely enveloping synth atmospherics with a solid beat. Clancy’s tracks just keep getting stronger and stronger and his mix here is a full on Dreamwave floorfiller to get lost in. Speaking of Dreamwave, One of the pioneers of the sound, Valerie’s Stephen Falken drops a reMix of soundtracky, sweeping retro Electro that get’s it’s synth groove on in a massive build whilst Worship’s contribution is an awesome analog synth Disco odyssey that appeals to the synth geek in me in ways I cannot express!

♫ Shelby Grey (Feat. Ricco Vitali) – Echoes, Dimensions & Waves (Clancy reMix)

♫ Shelby Grey (Feat. Ricco Vitali) – Echoes, Dimensions & Waves (Stephen Falken reMix)

♫ Shelby Grey (Feat. Ricco Vitali) – Echoes, Dimensions & Waves (Worship reMix)

I’m sure you’ll agree that’s quite a collection of tunes!

More new Beaumont

Blimey Beaumont’s been busy this week! This is the second fresh track this week!

I think we’re starting to see a pattern emerging in Beaumont’s more recent releases, he’s defiantly favouring a more mid-tempo, melodic groove these days. Which kinda’ makes sense, having spent the last few years cutting his teeth and honing his skills producing big dance tracks to now apply that knowledge to more epic, moving, tunes is a good call. Not that we would mind more of the pounding Beaumont tracks, but these majestic, almost soundtracky (yup, I’ve decided ‘soundtracky’ is a word), productions where the Electro sounds and techniques are brought back to a more chilled out and emotional place are pretty musically spot-on.

Beaumont – Feed The Sky

It Is possible that Beaumont is working on some soundtrack in secret, or is just soundtracking his own life…

Oliver reMixes Penguin Prison

Oliver, the duo consisting of U-Tern & Oligee, are playing a prefect game. Not a bad release so far, making them one of the most exciting production teams of the year. Their new reMix of Penguin Prison’s ‘Fair Warning’ is jaw-droppingly good!

This track is so 80’s, Oliver have taken the Indie-Electro of Penguin Prison and tuned him into Nik Kershaw, and I mean that in the best way possible. With Olvier’s slick contemporary production this could quite easily be a modern remaster of an 80’s 12” extended version. The prefect meeting of 80’s songwriting and Dreamwave studio skills.

I love a bit of Penguin Prison, both live and recorded, so keep that in mind when I say Penguin Prison has never sounded so good!

No idea of a release date for the ‘Fair Warning’ single yet, we’ll let you know when we do.
