[Audio] Pat Lok reMixes Goldroom

Goldroom

We love it when our favourite producers work together. Just look at this pairing. The inventor of Dreamwave, deliverer of electronic bliss Goldroom with is (not Saint Lou Lou anymore) SLL featuring Sweetness Alive, as reMixed by Canadian’s top party starter Pat Lok. Before you listen, just think about that for a second. Yes, it is as good as it promises.

Pat’s Dip And Drop reMix continues down this Disco don’s journey into the realms of deep 90s House. With a jackin’ sound Lok contrasts Goldroom’s laid back sunset vibes with a pumping warehouse sound. It;s no wonder that The Magician chose to include this tune in his last Magic Tape, it’s a total floorfiller, with just enough of a retro feel to keep people smiling, but a large contemporary sound. most of all this track;s a lot of fun, can’t wait to hear it out, and we will no doubt.

[Audio] Charli XCX’s ‘You (Ha Ha Ha)’

Charli XCX

ElectroPop’s Goth princess Charli XCX’s new track recently débuted on Radio 1. Super Ultra Mixtape aside, You (Ha Ha Ha) is the follow up to Charlie’s excellent You’re The One. We’re not sure what’ll happen with this track, whether it’ll be a new single, or if it’s a track of Charli’s forthcoming album, but it;s an interesting mashup.

The track is essentially Charli singing over Gold Panda’s track of the same name (minus the Ha Ha Ha’s). A pounding Electro groove with samples flying left and right, Charli makes the track her own as her vocals get deeper (emotionally, not her range) with each release, she’s really developing a unique flow, which is shown off to it’s fullest on You (Ha Ha Ha).

Here it is, Germany’s finest all together. Dreamwave heroes Final DJs mixing up a smooth storm with their official reMix of Kris Menace and Miss Kittin’s new single, Hide. Bringing a different flavour to the track than the other versions, Final DJs deliver some seriously Cosmic Disco for dreamers.

Final DJs carry all their sweetest tricks to the table on this one, working in miss Kittin’s distant vocal into a galactic, laid-back, Disco groove. Clocking in at an epic six minutes, the track gives Final DJs more than enough time to introduce their retro bests and truly soaring synth leads. it;s a mix loaded with synth love and a fitting finale to and amazing year for Final DJs, who have consistently released some of the best synth Disco and Dreamwave around in 2012.

[Audio] Aaron Alexis’ ‘Names’

Aaron Alexis

Hot on the heels of his recent single, Kill The Lights, New York ElectroPop crooner Aaron Alexis is back with a brand new track. Somewhat softer and even more introspective than his previous work, Aaron ramps up the drama and atmosphere on Names.

The track is an entry in Converse’s “In Search of Sound” competition that challenged entrant to compose using a set of samples recorded around Brooklyn, only fitting then that Aaron, a Brooklyn resident conjured up something of his experience there. Rolling atop an almost Industrial rhythm, Aaron casts a sonic net and catches all the mystery of the city at night. A beautiful piece of music.

[Audio] Ryan Riot reMixes Passion Pit

Passion Pit

Swiss Dreamwaver Ryan Riot is topping of his year with this classy reMix of Passion Pit’s Carried Away. As the reMix contest for this track draws to a close we’re sure to be inundated with version of this tune for the next couple of weeks. Damn reMix competitions. Still, Ryan is onto a winner here as he injects the track with a playful Disco groove.

Keeping the structure of the track intact, Ryan gets funky with it and has a good time with a popcorn riff and pounding, infectious, bass hook. the track perfectly the captures the spirit of Passion Pit, that summery Indie goodness, but drags it kicking and screaming onto the dancefloor. Surely this track is a winner, we can’t imaging a more fitting Passion Pit reMix than this, this is how all Passion Pit reMixes should sound.

[Audio] Tesla Boy’s’ Split’

tesla boy

Russia’s Dreamwave superstars Tesla Boy are easily one of our favourite acts to emerge in the last decade. Ranging from nostalgic Dreamwave to catchy ElectroPop, Anton and crew always inject their tracks with so much soul it’s hard not to get sucked in. Their 2012 album, Modern Thrills is an actual masterpiece of Disco tinged SynthPop, and that might sound like hyperbole, but just listen to it, you’ll see.

This week they release a brand new single, which we have been very much looking forward to. it’s called Split and it doesn’t disappoint. No-one quite does, what is essentially vocal SynthWave, quite like Tesla Boy. Split has a big, powerful sound but keeps it personal with the vocals. Huge retro synths chords and arpeggiated bass dominate the chorus and before the track brings it back down low for the verse, just to build you up again. With the prefect tempo for a laid back groove, not too fast, but not to chilled either, Split is a huge, and welcome, return for Tesla Boy. It’s B-side, Another Light mixes up a little Indie and a tiny bit of a Tropical sound into Tesla Boy’s Synth repertoire before going large for the sing-a-long chorus. reMixes on the single come from Pioneerball, SoundSAM and St. Petersburg Disco outfit 7th Myriads, who deliver a piano House infused, summery Disco, version of Split, with a beach party vibe. Hopefully this single is the precursor to a new album, which would be an awesome start to 2013.

[Audio] Röyksopp’s new single

Röyksopp

Recently débuted on Norwegian Music TV show Lydverket, this is the long, long, long awaited new single from Röyksopp. Röyksopp are massive favourites of ours, and in the current climate, wintery cold but sunny as hell, their music just seems to fit. It’s been three years since the amazing junior, and two since it’s more experimental companion Senior, and Running To The Sea, featuring the vocals of Susanne Sundfør is a epic return to the world of Pop.

This track just reminds us how incredible Röyksopp are. Sweeping and dramatic, loaded with emotive piano and rousing drums, it’s a track that you can’t help but feel something for. Like the best Röyksopp tunes it’s kinda’ understated and effortlessly sounds majestic without trying to hard. Sundfør’s powerful vocals are a perfect match for Running To The Sea. There’s not much else to say. Amazing.

[Audio] The C90s’ new track

The C90s

We’ve Got Love is the new track from London Disco duo The C90s. We’ve been pretty eagerly awaiting some new material from these two for a while, recently their efforts have been concentrated on mixtapes and some storing DJ spots, but Danny and Jamie are now back with this infectious slice of Indie-Disco.

With a strong New York Disco/DFA groove, We’ve Got Love is their first original track since 2010’s Shine A Light (although both Danny and Jamie have produced as other projects, most recently Earl Grey for Danny) and shows that they haven’t been wasting their time. Honing their skills and sliding toward a smooth sound that is part Disco, part introspective Indie with heaps of retro cool. The beats in this track are almost B-boy and give tune a solid base for a pulsating bass, magical synths and a hushed vocal, all intersected by a funky Superstitious lead line. We’d definitely like to hear more like this please.

[Audio] Mitch Murder reMixes Karl X Johan

Karl X Johan

Karl X Johan are a Sweedish duo who have been making a few ripples in the waters of hype in recent months. This Stockholm twosome like mixing it up with shuffling Hip Hop drums, Chilly synths and introspective songs. They have also roped in fellow Swede, and king of SynthWave Mitch Murder on the reMix.

Taken from the forthcoming reMix edition of Karl X Johan’s Do You Remember?/Get It All EP, the Mitch Murder mix of Do You Remember? is a smooth-as-hell slice of summer nostalgia. A shimmering pallet of retro drums, Mitch’s emotive digital bass, and playful little melodies lay out a laid back vintage groove which, when added to Karl X Johan’s reverb washed vocal, ends up sounding almost Chillwavey. But a really 80s Chillwave. This is going to be sorting me out for the rest of the day.

[Audio] Plastic Plates reMixed by Bufi

Plastic Plates

This reMix of Plastic Plates’, Simon Lord featuring, Things I Didn’t Know I Loved is a nice little extra. Not featuring on the single, it comes as part of Kitsuné Music’s Kitsuné Club Night Mix #3 compilation, mixed by main man Gildas. It;s by Mexican producer Bufi and is perfect Friday night material,

Bufi Houses things up a little, mixing a nice digital Disco bassline with a big piano House riff to fun, summery effect. This mix is all about dancing and good times, injecting the track with a lively carnival vibe and enough dancefloor power to keep it moving. A nice Balearic breakdown adds a little touch of sunrise awe right in the middle of a solid groove.
