[Audio] Televisor’s ‘Starlight’

televisor_thumb

Out now on Monstercat is the latest release from London based Televisor. Starlight was released last week and it really does exactly what it says on the tin. This is an uplifting beam of starlight with a beat. This international duo seriously get their groove on for this new single, a peak time floorfiller.

Starlight sees SynthWavers Televisor moving even further into big room Nu-Disco territories. Exploring a Madeon/Lenno sound Televisor hit just the right notes, bringing big beats, funky cut-ups and layers upon layers of thick synths. And no big Nu-Disco track would be complete without a rocking solo, and Televisor take it stratospheric. We can see this tune getting a lot of play in the coming months.

[Audio] Patrick Baker’s new single

Patrick Baker

Amazing Retro Pop artist Patrick Baker is gearing up for the release of his début single. Released next month, Get 2 Know U is actually the first track of Patrick’s we featured on electronic rumors, back in June last year, and now it’s getting a proper release, backed with a pretty special reMix package, in anticipation of Baker’s album release later this year.  Televisor Jolie Cherie

You’ve probably heard Get 2 Know U by now, it’s a lush slice of 80s Americana. when we first wrote about it we commented that Patrick baker is to American 80s Pop what Kid Kasio is to British 80s Pop, and that’s true. Patrick authentically creates a nostalgic vision of the US charts in the great decade. Get 2 Know U is a catchy, upbeat slab of ElectroPop. Fun and funky, what more could you want? reMixes come from Robots With Rayguns with a deep, west coast, Pop mix, Televisor, who inject the track with a summery, beach-party, vibe and lends Get 2 Know U some Nu-Disco flair, and France’s Jolie Cherie, who turn in a relaxed, spacey, Disco tinged ElectroPop mix that has a nice warm sound to round of the single. We’re so pleased Patrick is starting to release stuff properly and predict big things from this guy.

[Audio] Monsieur Adi reMixes Phildel

Phildel

Here’s a brand new reMix from the world’s most underrated producer Monsieur Adi. The Frenchman is tackling the new single from up-and-coming British artist Phildel. Phidel is a London based singer/songwriter who is about to release her second single, Beside You, at the end of the month, and Adi gives the track a typically bombastic makeover.

Powerful is the best word to describe this track. You’ll know by now that Adi has a flair for big, cinematic, sounds, which he works in to this, initially gently, track. Heavy, industrial, beats pin the track down while Adi’s rousing orchestration and thickly layered synths raise it up to it’s dramatic climax. Phidel’s sweet voice could have easily got lost amongst the epicenes, but Monsieur Adi deftly handles the vocals, allowing just the right amount of space in the track. Another classic mix from Adi.

[Audio] Mjolnir & Dini

Mjolnir

Here’s the latest tune from our favourite Indonesian Disco dudes, Mjolnir. Recorded exclusively for OZ Radio Jakarta as their monthly theme song, Mjolnir roped in singer Dini to provide a vocal touch to their smooth Nu-Disco sounds.

Fashion Star is a lovely slice of modern Funk. From it’s infectious synth bassline to it’s lush 70s Disco strings, the track just pops. Intercut with thick retro stabs and Cosmic synth flourishes, Fashion Star builds itself around a warm electric piano hook and Dini’s catchy vocal with every part of the track coming together to form a laid back, feel good, vocal Disco tune that seems to put you in a good mood, whatever you’re doing. Mjolnir really need to get to work on a new EP, we’re gagging for more.

[Audio] Factory Floor’s ‘Fall Back’

Factory Floor

It’s been about a year since UK Indie-Electro/Post-Punk/Post-Industrial outfit Factory Floor’s last single. The first hit of their début album, slated for release in May, is finally here. Getting a little Minimal Synth groove on, Fall Back is released on DFA later this month.

Clocking in it just under nine minutes, Fall Back is a hypnotic Elektro Industrial excursion. Combining the sparse electronic assault of early Industrial, the listless vocals of Minimal Synth and the pounding of EBM, all wrapped up in Factory Floors’ effortless cool, Fall Back delivers an aural experience that could have easily come out of Sheffield in 1980. It’s an interesting hint of what to expect when Factory Floor’s album drops, and a track you can completely loose yourself in.

[Audio] Moon & Walker reMixed by Ride The Universe

moon & walker

Moon & Walker are a new Australian duo (or are they?), so new in fact that they haven;t got a web presence we can link to, so you’ll just have to take our word for it that they exist. Well, our word for it, and this storming reMix of their début single from Dreamwave superheroes Ride The Universe.

Love A Little More get’s a blissful, Funk fuelled, Nu-Disco workout from Dreamwave’s A-Team. Like sunshine pouring out of your speakers, which, in the middle of January, is awesome. it’s got everything we’ve come to expect, nay demand, from RtU. No-one rocks a smooth groove quite like these guys. Complex Disco basslines and buzzing retro synths breezily wash over the most laid back of beats as Ride The universe mix a little of their trademark talkbox into the track. With a pinch of stardust sprinkled on their beach party RtU bring their eternal summertime into our lives once again. This is music for hot girls to dance in slow motion too.

[Audio] Stuart Price reMixes Pet Shop Boys

pet shop boys

When  you’re reMixing SynthPop legends Pet Shop Boys, do you try an bee all hip with whatever sounds are packing dancefloors at the time, or do you think “fuck it” and go all mid-80s reMix? It seems like producer extraordinaire Stuart Price wisely took the latter path and had dropped a track that could comfortable sit on the B-side of any number of 1985-1987 PSB 12”s, albeit with a little more contemporary studio slickness.

As well as drawing comparisons to Shep Pettibone’s classic, pumping, PSB reMixes, Stuart Price’s take on their new single, Memory Of The Future, surprisingly feels like it has a load of mid-80s Front 242 in it’s DNA. The fact that this Extended Mix sounds like extended mixes of our youth is giving us a nostalgic glow. With it’s vintage drum sounds, digital bass and icy pads, this Price mix obviously goes perfectly with Tennant’s vocal, this kind of track is what we’re most used to hearing him on. An excellent update to the classic PSB sound, this one is going to be on repeat for a while.

[Audio] Televisor’s ‘We Wish You A Merry Christmas’

Televisor

Well, what can you say about this track? The genius of it? Dutch/British duo Televisor have dropped their version of We Wish You A Merry Christmas as part of Monstercat’s Christmas Album. Cover X-mas tunes can come off two ways, normally incredibly cheesy and MIDIfile sounding, but amazingly Televisor actually turn We Wish You A Merry Christmas into a funkin’ good time jam.

Mixing up the We Wish You A Merry Christmas melody with twisting synth leads and vintage stabs, Television deliver s Disco tune with extra helpings of X-mas cheer. It’s pretty unbelievable how they’ve pulled this off, a genuinely amazing X-Mas SynthWave Disco track. This is going on repeat on the 25th!

[Audio] Garth Knight’s ‘Neuron’

Garth Knight

Here’s the new one from Glasgow based SynthWaver Garth Knight who brings a nice combination of retro synth and Disco to the table, with a little Italo twist. Neuron is actually the funkiest thing we’ve heard from this guy to date, and is well worth considering for your X-mas party soundtrack.

Neuron kicks off with a slick, cut-up, Disco sample before launching itself into a bouncy Italo bassline and some seriously haunting synths.. When the tree elements come together the track delivers a nice burst of energy, drawing the track toward a nice bit-crushed breakdown. When the tune slams back in the mix of Disco groove and vintage synth emotion is powerful stuff. Guaranteed to keep them dancing, and loving it.

[Audio] MNDR reMixed by RAC

MNDR

The awesome MNDR’s current single, Feed Me Diamonds, from the amazing album of the same name has has a radical going over from RAC. The collective have completely stripped down the track and rebuilt it in a funky new form.

André Allen Anjos took up the RAC reigns for this one, removing all the quirky ElectroPop and replacing it with a solid Disco groove that rests on a piano hook and popping groovy bassline. And for such a departure from the original it really works. There’s a nice hint of plucked strings from the original in the chorus that adds a kind of dancefloor drama in this context. This is what a reMix should be, completely different from the original but just as good.
