Adrian Lux featuring The Good Natured

The Good Natured

Adrian Lux  has created beast of many faces with his new track alongside The Good Natured.

On the one hand ‘Alive’ is a big progressive monster that veers into Ibiza hands-in-the-air territory. Which seems at total odds with Sara’s often dark, moody, impassioned vocal style and lyrical content. But y’know what? They’ve made it work and the end result is actually pretty powerful. Sure, the lead sound in the chorus is ultimate cheese, but by the second time it comes around you’ll be pumping your fist in the air with the best of them.

Metronomy’s new single

Metronomy

Indie-ElectroPop darlings Metronomy’s new single ‘Everything Goes My Way’ come complete with a hold host of pretty awesome reMixes.

the single was released at the start of this week and features Veronica Fall’s Roxanne Clifford helping out with the vocals. the headliner reMix comes from Ewan Pearson, who’s deeply electronic reMix combines a retro synth bassline with the kind of intricate programming that makes me think of the first Simian Mobile Disco album, but with more of a Disco vibe. It’s great, involving, Electro stuff. Psychemagik go for a more early ‘90’s House flavour with a post-Chicago deepness (despite “post-Chicago deepness” being a dick thing to say, it does kinda’ sound like that) and just the right amount of M1 piano and airy pads.

Kelek

kelek

You may remember us a while back raving about German producer Kelek’s entry in Fear Of Tigers’ ‘The Adventures Of Pippi Longsrump’ reMix completion. His entry was easily in our top three.

The man stopped by the electronic rumors Inbox to pimp out his latest tune, ‘Dinosaurs’, and it’s pretty awesome. There’s a nice little crossover going on between Italo, Dreamwave and Electro-House in this track, with the first minute lulling you into a retro synth sense of security before dropping some chainsaw leads on you, Kavinsky style. Supplying both the emotional experience of SynthWave and the in-you-face electronics of hard Electro, ‘Dinosaurs’ is an instant winner.

Rex The Dog teams up with Kris Menace

rex

Y’know, I wouldn’t have immediate paired Rex The Dog and Kris Menace together, but after hearing their new joint single, ‘Pow!’, the resultant tune is as natural as it is massive sounding. A meeting in the middle between their two sounds.

Rex’s ‘Casio Mix’, however is pure Rex. Analog Electro Disco as only Rex does best and the riff from ‘Pow!’ is perfectly suited to a pure Rex remix, you can tell he had a lot of fun with this track, you know how he loves to be surrounded with analog synths just jamming. After hearing the whole EP this reMix is the real stand out track for me.

A-Track reMixes The Rapture

therapture

If you have at all being paying attention you’ll know by now that dance-punk guys The Rapture are back, despite being on DFA I was never really on-board with them the first time round. Sure, they had some good tunes, but noting really inspired me.

What does inspire me, however, is A-Trak’s knack of writing killer basslines and catchy hooks, as he does in this dub of The Rapture’s current hype inducing single ‘How Deep Is Your Love?’, which he’s dedicated to the memory of DJ Mehdi. In his own words: “I did this remix over the summer, and when I was close to finishing it I played it to my friend, the irreplaceable DJ Mehdi. We often played each other our productions for feedback. As it turns out he and Riton were visiting New York so they stopped by my apartment. I was working on the main version of the remix, the vocal version. I knew I would make a few alternate edits during the mixdown. The funny thing was, Mehdi’s favorite part was the ending! He and Riton suggested that I have that part come in earlier. My reaction was: that would work well for the dub version. And sure enough, when I finished mixing it down I made a dub with their suggestion. When I sent it to Mehdi shortly after, he responded (as a joke) that I should call it “Dub For Mehdi”. He included it in his “Tunisian Summer” mix. And then, as we all know, the unimaginable happened and we lost our dear friend. The least I can do now is name the edit after him. This one’s for you, Memed.”

Justice reMix The Asteroids Galaxy Tour

The Asteroids Galaxy Tour

Is it Justice? Isn’t it justice? Who know’s? Well…everybody, it is Justice reMixing the new The Asteroids Galaxy Tour track.

I swear when Justice’s new album is released there will be people, with a physical copy in their hands, saying, “there’s no way this is Justice!”. Whist not a huge Justice banger, you can hear Gaspard & Xavier’s DNA running through this mix, especially on the bass. This is a funky little groover and I expect to find more than a couple of tracks like this on Justice’s new album.

Blue Satellite reMixes Monsieur Adi (& The Whip)

Monsieur Adi

The excellent Blue Satellite get’s his Justice on with this reMix of Monsieur Adi awesome, epic, Nu-Disco single ‘Fire Fire Fire’.

In one of the most exciting reMixes I’ve heard this month Blue Satellite takes many of the elements of Electro these days that have been annoying me, making the scene complacent and predictable, and injected them with a new energy and craftsmanship and, basically, just show up half of the Electro-House scene as lazy, talentless fools. This is how it should be done.

♫ Monsieur Adi – Fire Fire Fire (Blue Satellite reMix)

He’s also just reMixed The Whip’s new single ‘Keep Or Delete’ with a sound more like we would expect from Blue Satellite but still rocking a new found chainsaw synth edge to his production.

Justice. Helix.

justice

This one goes out to everyone who’s been living under a rock this past week.

More new Justice ,in the form of album track ‘Helix’, has reared it’s Electro head. ‘Helix’ is huge stadium Electro as we’ve come to expect from the duo, with that impressive musicality that runs through all their work. There’s a lot of griping about the new Justice tracks around, but I just don’t see it, to me this sounds quintessentially Justice. Maybe they are just making the album I want them to make (melodic and funky with an edge of aggression) and not the album the rest of the world want them to make (fucking 320kbps bang0rz). I dunno, I really like it.

♫ Justice – Helix

As expected reMixes are already being chopped up, here’s Mr. Moustache‘s Disco edit with a few familiar samples thrown in, medley style..
