James Curd & Second Date reMix DJ Cam

DJ Cam

Parisian producer DJ Cam is a bout to release the single ‘Uncomfortable’ on Inflammable Records/Studio !K7, a downtempo, dramatic track with an excellent reMix package.

Amongst those featured are James Curd who picks up the tempo and drops the listener onto his robotic dancefloor. The bulk of the reMix is made up of classic House moments but Curd gives them his own unique Electro twist, a real tune for synthesizer lovers. Second Date go the opposite direction on drop a slick late-night slow jam, full of early ‘90’s R&B tropes and a silky smooth vibe.

The return of Jordan F

jordan-f

I suppose you have to take a trip to find out where home is. maybe that’s what happened to Jordan F, who recently shed his name to dabble with a smoother sound under the moniker Countach, however he found he missed Jordan F too much, and y’know what, so did we.

So Jordan F, or as we like to call him the man in desperate need of new press photos, is back and announcing his return with ‘Jordan’s Theme’, his synthesizer manifesto. The track itself is a smoothed out, solo infused version of the title track of his ‘Definitely Miami’ EP, a little slicker n the production, a little more mature sounding, and rocking some serious leads. But more than the music, it’s a marker, a point that Jordan F can move forward from and take us all on his crazy retro synth ride.

Malibu B & Binalog Frequency

Malibu B

Last month we featured Hungarian SynthWave dreamer Malibu B’s new single ‘Engame’, well not it;s getting a proper release, courtesy of Binalog Productions with the EP including a new dark rework from Binalog Frequency himself.

Binalog’s ‘Return To LA’ version takes the aspects of ‘Endgame’ most suited to spinning on your back on a peice of lino and runs with them. This is kind of dark, moody, Electro that flourished through the likes of Juan Aitkin’s Cryotron briefly before Hip Hop hit the big time and still lurks in the Electro shadows. The Jan Hammer-esque lead line of ‘Endgame’ takes on a whole new dystopian feel when coupled with Binalog’s 808 percussion. All this is driving by a growling, relentless machine beat. If the original is Miami Vice, then this is The Terminator.

Lameboy Advance’s new tune

Lameboy Advance

German retro synth producer Lameboy Advance had dropped a new tune. ‘The Scene’ that puts the Boogie back into Electro and a little soul into a SynthWave.

‘The Scene’ is pretty slick and laid back, but with a solid vintage groove and all the smoothness of an ‘80’s electronic Soul track. Those dreamy chords alone are enough to rock the vibe, but when Lameboy turns on his Herbie Hancock-esque soloing skills the whole track ascends to a higher level. Chilled out SynthWave bliss.

Guy Zalaxy and Emeron Kale reMix St. Lucia

stlucia

Guy Zalaxy is the solo moniker of Joe from Follow Me, who’s teamed up with Emeron & Fox’s  Emeron Kale to drop this awesome deep ElectroPop reMix of St. Lucia’s ‘Closer Than This’.

Recently released on Neon Gold as part of St. Lucia’s self-titled EP the original is a summery beach Pop anthem that Zalaxy and Kale transform into a blissed out analog retro Pop gem. Taking cues from Dreamwave and Nu-Disco, but keeping things ElectroPop, this reMix is the kind of track that you can’t help but smile at. Loaded with big sweeping synths and twinkling melodies riding on top a squelchy analog bassline Zalaxy and Kale up the nostalgia ante and make the chorus sound just that little more epic.

Sohight’s new EP

Sohight

We’ve featured Russian producers Sohight a few times before and always loved his tunes, so it;s good to bee Kiez Beats picking them up and dropping this massive single, ‘High School’

For this record they’ve teamed up with single Cheevy to produce one of the largest retro ElectroPop tracks we’ve heard in awhile. This thing is epic. The biggest sounding drums, the fattest synth sounds and passionate vocals belted out all make up the kind of huge nostalgic Dreamwave ElectroPop that we haven’t heard a lot of in the last few months. This’ll more than make up for that! Amongst the reMix package is Final DJs take on the track, which sees them bring that brand of Funky SynthWave to the tune. Their retro synths really capture the mood of the tune and they let loose midway with some killer soloing. Jesse Oliver steps up to reMix too, with an awesome mix that sounds a little like something Fear Of Tigers would come up with.

From the EP’s opener, Trouble, a rich, rousing electronic epic you are welcomed into Pyramid’s futuristic dystopia where his shifting arpeggios and layered Vangelis synth work soundtracks your every move. More new music from Mitch Murder

Mitch Murder

After a period of quiet, once SynthWave maestro Mitch Murder released his awesome ‘Current events’ album, brand new tracks from the Sweedish producer are becoming a weekly occurrence!

That’s no bad thing though, his latest ‘Glass Cities’ is just the latest in amazing, atmospheric tracks. Quiet and reserved, with synths like raindrops, the intro to ‘Glass Cities’ creates the mood for the whole track. Spacious and mysterious, which a slightly oriental felling and when the beat and bassline kick in, you know something is going down in the metropolis. I don’t really need to reiterate that Mitch Murder is pretty much the king of retro synthesizer soundtrack-esque tunes, but now you know what to expect, but the cinematic bassline and the hints of Jarre’s ‘Zoolook’ are particular highlights of this one.

Teen Daze’s new track

teen daze

Vancouver Chillwave/SynthWave crossover producer Teen Daze will be releasing his début album ‘all Of Us, together’ in May. This new track, ‘Treten’, is just a taste of what’s to come.

‘Treten’ is typical of Teen Daze’s sound. Lush synthesizer atmospheres layered thick over retro synth bass and melodies. A tack that’s both dancefloor friendly and hypnotically ambient. When you focus in on the tracks core it’s a sweet, nostalgic peice of ElectroPop, playful with shifting arpeggios and a soaring lead line. Then the track is washed with heavy synth pads it give it a hazy, dreamlike quality. The album should be the perfect summer accompaniment.

Teen Daze’s ‘All of Us, Together’ is released 22nd May on Lefse Records.

Cosmonaut Grechko reMixes Benjamin Francis Leftwich

Benjamin Francis Leftwich

With over 24,000 ‘likes’ on Facebook I feel kinda’ like I should know who Benjamin Francis Leftwich is. but I don’t. On fist glance he appears to be a reasonably talented, but dreary, Folky singer, the kind that is hard to get away from these days. No matter, Cosmonaut Grechko to the rescue as he takes BFL’s track of last year ‘Box Of Stones’ and makes it something exciting and beautiful.

Grechko’s talent consistently amazes us, this reMix is just inspired. Francis Leftwich’s vocals take on a whole new lease of life in Grechko’s hands, giving the an injection of adrenaline and and IV drip of emotion. A smooth summer Dreamwave groove and some shiny synth flourishes weave in and out of the cut-up vocals to create the perfect sunshine track. Full of feeling, full of optimism, Grechko nails it once again.
