[Audio] Serj V’s ‘Extreme Night’

Serj V

The Russians are back! Once again some of the best Dreamwave and Nu-Disco around is coming from Russia, this time in the form of the new single from St. Petersburg’s Serj V. The oddly titled Extreme Night is released next month and comes equipped with a host of reMixes from some of Russia’s up and coming talent.

Extreme Night, despite it’s rather aggressive title, is a smooth slice of laid back Boogie. Loaded with thick, warm bass and atmospheric chords, it’s a dreamy tune that flows like water. As silky synths rub shoulders with a slick House beat and echoing arpeggios the track delivers it’s vacation groove in the form of a rolling purcussion accompaniment. The reMix package hold a whopping seven reMixes containing some classic House and Disco cuts. The standouts, for us, are Homkore Chicago House take on the track, Mikael Fas’ laid back mix that up’s the Boogie factor, Olej’s heavy LA Funk meets Cosmic Disco rendition and  Eclectic Sound’s mix, which rounds of the EP with some chilled G-Funk and bouncy synth Disco. It’s a really solid collection of tunes, with a style to fit into most summer nights DJ sets.

[Audio] Mitch Murder’s ‘High Performance’

Mitch Murder

Why not end your week with a new one from Mitch Murder. Mitch is currently working on taking his 80s soundtrack inspired FM funk live, so every time he releases a new tune we can’t help but imagine it in a live situation. With that in mind, there’s no way High Performance wouldn’t get you moving.

This time around Mitch is using his FM bassline skills to their fullest, delivering something that’s as emotionally rich as his usual OST work but with a dancefloor fuelled slap-esque bassline. High Performance takes it’s time to rasp up. Kicking off with a steady Funk groove, before easing into smooth night time Soul and then finally launching into the finest retro Pop where frantic arpeggios play against warm 80s R&B flavours. We cannot wait to check out Mitch Murder live.

[MP3] Pony Pony Run Run reMix Futurecop!

futurecop_thumb

Wow, we haven’t heard from Pony Pony Run Run in quite some time, which is a shame, ;’cos they were (are) awesome. But they appear to be back in the saddle as this reMix of  Futurecop! and Kristine’s Superheroes has appeared. Hopefully this means a return to business for the Indie-Electro three piece.

Pony Pony Run Run’s reMix of Superheroes is a grinding slice of dancefloor ElectroPop. With a bouncy but growling bassline that is tempered by bright leads and Kristine’s emotional vocal, the track plays to both the dancefloor and the headphones. Bringing a House flavour to the track, Pony Pony Run Run show that they’ve lost none of their flair in their time away, combining French Electro with Futurecop!’s nostalgic SynthWave to deliver something entirely new.

[Audio] Classixx & Nancy Whang

classixx_thumb

The second single to be taken from their forthcoming, and amazing, début album, Hanging Gardens Classixx is the emotional rush of All Your Waiting For. Following on from  Holding On/Boarderline, All Your Waiting For features the vocals of DFA’s Nancy Whang and delivers classic breezy Disco beats.

Sunshine, west coast, poolside Nu-Disco vibes exude from every second of this track. Despite Whang’s bittersweet song, the mood of the track is kept laid-back with warm synths, a tow-tapping beat and starlight leads. With a wobbly Disco bassline, to inject the track with a little quirkiness, All Your Waiting For serves all your nostalgic Disco needs, whether that’s for the 80s, or for 2007. Broad spectrum nostalgia, that’s what All Your Waiting For delivers.

[Audio] Silent Gloves & Patrick Baker

Silent Gloves

Out this week is the début proper release from Dayton SynthWave Silent Gloves. Long-time staple of the SynthWave scene ‘Gloves has roped in Disco’s current vocal darling and ElectroPop trailblazer in his own right Patrick Baker to Pop up his SynthWave and between the two of the they deliver So Real, a massive slice of classic Pop.

So Real is as close to perfect American 80s Pop music as is probably humanly possible to get. It’s one of those track you just have to listen to, there’s no way we could explain the energy and excitement of So Real, the rolling arpeggiated bassline, the lush, authentically 80s synths, Patrick’s sweeping vocal. It’s pitch perfect nostalgic Pop, totally evocative of the mid-80s and catchy as hell to boot. With a track like this you really do have to rope in the big guns for reMix duties, and the SynthWave scenes heavy hitters are on board. Outrun pioneer Miami Nights 1984’s take on the track delivers a high octane rendition of the original. The bassline more driven, the synth more stabby and the groove more street, MN84 turn in the montage version of So Real. the king of soundtrack Electro Mitch Murder brings his FM dreamscapes to the single package with a reMix that channels the best 80s electronic ballads and proves one again, that whatever mood Mitch turns his hand to he makes his own. Simple question. Do you like retro electronic music? If you answered that question with a ‘yes’, then you need to buy this whole single package right now.

[MP3] Jordan F reMixes Tokyo Denmark Sweden

Tokyo Denmark Sweden

Once again, Jordan F delivers some of the most vibrant, emotional, electronic music around with his latest offering. The track is a reMix of fellow Australians, Indie band Tokyo Denmark Sweden, and their track When It Breaks, which is taken from their début self-titled EP, just released.

Returning, slightly, to his core 80s SynthWave sound, Jordan makes the best use of his recent excursions into more left-field arenas to deliver a track with a solid nostalgic backbeat that is accompanied by waves of Chill synths. All this works amazingly with Tokyo Denmark Sweden’s floaty female vocals to create a whole that is dreamy, catchy, thoughtful and dancefloor ready. We’re sticking this one in our back pocket until the summer.

[Audio] Final DJs’ new single

final-djs_thumb_thumb

Moonshine, from Germany’s finest Final DJs, is a track of theirs from last year which is now getting a full release this week courtesy of Pole Position Recordings out of Cardiff. You’ve read all about the smooth synth funk of the original before, so lets peep our beady eyes on a couple of the awesome reMixes that come bundled with Moonshine.

First up is the Dutch king of the Analog groove, Auxiliary Tha Masterfader. Aux delivers one of his trademark phat bassed jams. Big squelchy synths and vintage Disco grooves drive the track along until Aux is just about ready to drop some twisting solos on us. Playing with the originals solos Aux conjures up new melodic rhythms. Phunktastike’s contribution to the single takes the track down a more Disco-tinged House route. It’s feel good summery vibes all the way with this one, drop in a little laid back vocodering Like an updated Dreamwave vibe, this track merges a west coast nostalgic groove with a little Chicago feel. The single also comes equipped with a third reMix from Cram, it’s a package well worth picking up for some sunshine, or moonshine, vibes.
