Satin Jackets & Rocco Raimundo

Satin Jackets

German smooth Electro Boogie guru Tim Bernhardt A.K.A. Satin Jackets had teamed up with the king of late night Disco Rocco Raimundo for some funky bass heavy good times.

The result of this meeting of minds is ‘This Is The Love’, a laid back Nu-Disco jam with a relaxed piano groove and a distant Disco lick. With a great, and well used, vocal sample intertwining with some sweet talkbox vocal action the track is full, but never overbearing, keeping a chilled vibe throughout. Both these guys are at the top of their respective games so it’s no surprise that the track they produced is so slick, and so smooth.

Poolside’s new track

poolside

Coming from nowhere Poolside have spent the last six months making such a name for themselves as purveyors of quality beach party Disco and smooth Dreamwave.

Their new track, ‘Take Me Home’, has the honour of appearing on Vito Aeroplane’s new compilation ‘In Flight Entertainment’ and is such a blissful, relaxed, for want of a better word, poolside jam. Built upon shuffling percussion and hazy guitar, ‘Take Me Home’ is a dreamlike mix of breathy vocals and swirling synth noises. It’s about as trippy as Disco gets.

Yuksek & Peter & The Magician (hold on, two of those are the same!)

yuksek

Yuksek’s newest single will be reMixed by Yuksek again alongside Stephen Frasano, the ex-half of Aeroplane in their awesome Peter & The Magician, guise.

‘Always On The Run’, gets the honour of being the first released Peter & The Magician reMix, after their amazing ‘Twist’ EP on Kitsuné. And what a way to kick off a reMixing career. Flawless synthesizer DiscoPop is the best way to describe it, Both of these guys really are at the top of their game and have crafted something bewilderingly likable here. there’s nothing about this track that disappoints, from the bouncy bass to the maddeningly infectious melody this tune is a winner.

Duran Duran & Drop Out Orchestra

Putting the funk back into Duran Duran comes Drop Out Orchestra.

Their edit of the Duran’s 1981 hit ‘Girls On Film’ morphs all the best bits into a lick laden Disco stormer that really highlights and bass and percussion of the original. this track’ll get the dancefloor jumping for all the right reasons. Good work by both the Durans and the Drop Outs.

Louis La Roché’s ‘Los Angeles’

LouisLaRoche

Hot on the heels of his current proper single, the double A-sided  ‘Gimme Gimme’/‘The Wall’ Mr. Louis La Roché is in such a good mood he released another new single for free on his SoundCloud.

‘Los Angeles’ is pure Nu-Disco gold. La Roché shows off his flair for picking and manipulating samples here at it’s finest with a wicked vocal hook and some blazing horns. All backed up by LLR’s shuffling synth Disco groove. There’s even a special B-side edit that mixes in a little bit of something very familiar…

Le Crayon reMixes Justice’s ‘D.A.N.C.E.’

justice

Finding yourself loving half the new Justice album but a little disappointed by the “let’s strip apart ‘60’s Prog Rock and make even more mediocre ‘60’s Prog Rock out of it” other half? Well Le Crayon has your antidote.

Ahh, remember the days of ‘D.A.N.C.E.’? Le Crayon does and has dropped an awesome reworking that brings it up to date a little  and gives it a nice heavy Disco-House feel. With more of a 2011 groove, in all it’s ironically retro glory, it’s time for ‘D.A.N.C.E.’ to takeover the D.A.N.C.E.floors again.

ODahl gets soulful

odahl

ODahl has given us something truly soulful with his latest tune.

Loaded with Soul and Disco samples, that I couldn’t tell you where originated, ‘Soul Music’ works the vocals just as hard as the synths. Weaving Motown harmonies and vocal solos into the track, then layering them over his rich synth Funk, ODahl really proves himself to be at the top of his game, giving us something chilled and Funky in the process.

Gin Joints

Gin Joints is a Sweedish producer who until recently was content making his name as a Hip-Hop guru, then he discovered ‘80’s Funk.

So what we have on his latest record, ‘Know The Ledge’ is a wicked vocoder heavy slice of cosmic Electro Boogie. Mixing up a Moog Funk bassline with a slick Disco lick creates the prefect backing for the almost ElectroPop vocals with a call-and-response vocoder chorus. ‘Know The Ledge’ is a smooth late night jam with reMix duties performed by the awesome Neon Workout who come in heavy with a big Dreamwave/Nu-Disco sound. At the stompier end of retro synth this reMix is set to get dancefloors jumping. The rest of the single hold two more original tracks ‘Done Wrong’ and ‘On The Phone’, a pure ‘80’s ElectroPop/Funk song with a hint of electronic R&B and more vocoder action that could quite easily sit on the Pretty In Pink soundtrack.
