[Download] Touch Sensitive’s ‘Slowments’

Touch Sensitive

Australian producer Touch Sensitive A.K.A. Van She guitarist Michael Di Francesco, still riding high on the success of Pizza Guy is back with some new music for you. It’s a nice chilled contrast to his other material and holds some nice retro surprises. Enjoy Slowments.

Slowments is, on the surface, a smooth LA style jam. A poolside groove that within it holds an ethereal, magic quality and an abundance of 80s style sampling. Background sampled scratches and orchestral hits pad out the laid back funk of the track. Not surprisingly then, you’ll find the basis of the track is Art Of Noise’s Moments In Love, twisted in blissful Disco ways.

[Audio] Labyrinth Ear’s ‘Crescent Moon’

Labyrinth Ear

Taken from their forthcoming album, The Orchid Room, Crescent Moon is a new taste of what to expect from London ecclectic ElectroPop duo Labyrinth Ear’s début full-length record. The twosome have been steadily making waves over the last couple of years, delivering EPs of dreamy, swirling, experimental SynthPop sounds, leaving this album quite highly anticipated.

Crescent Moon is an ethereal SynthPop track that had collided head on with a Balearic sunrise House tune. Ominous, but somehow cheerful, synth bass booms it’s way through the track, providing a darkness to Emily’s light vocals. A magical tune, flowing with mysteries and dreams, but one that is also grounded enough for you to get down to on the dancefloor. It bodes well for the album.

[Audio] Chelas ‘Zero’ reMixed by Backstroke

Chela

One of our favourite Australian artists, Chela, is gearing up for the release of her new single, Zero. The track originally appeared on her Zero Mixtape EP last year but will soon be presented accompanied by an impressive reMix packed featuring storming tracks from Clancy and Keljet. Due to Kitsuné Music’s esoteric PR decisions we can’t actually play you any of the forthcoming release, and probably never will, but you can check this reMix from American producer Backstroke, it’s not actually on the single, but it’s quite nice in it’s own right.

Backstoke folds in a whole bunch of influences into his mix, there’s a bit of Future R&B, a bit of LA Funk, a bit of Dreamwave, and a bit of Tropical Disco all held together with some booming beats. Chela’s vocals flow over the track like water, giving you an indication of how they play out in the other reMixes (spoiler alert: awesomely!) and should get your mouth (ears?) watering for the single to drop.

[Audio] Tensnake, Jacques Lu Cont & Jamie Lidell’s ‘Feel Of Love’

tensnake

It’s another new track from German Housemeister Tensnake’s forthoming début album, Glow. This time he’s wading into another collaboration, here with the legendary Jacques Lu Cont and Mr. Jamie Lidell. Following the Nile Rodgers and Fiora featuring Love Sublime is a hard act to follow; but Feel Of Love pulls it off with style.

A nice bridge between Tensnake’s House groove and Jacques more Les Rythmes Digitales 80s sound, the track kicks off with lunch retro keys and a springy bassline mixing it up with some solid House beats. The track soon descends into vintage Pop awesomeness with Lidell giving it his best soulful Prince-vibes. Many headliner collaborations don;t always end up being as exciting as the sum of their parts would suggest, but this one really doesn’t. Exciting, driving, pure Pop. Unexpected but most welcome.

[Audio] Florrie’s ‘Seashells’

Florrie

After a brief flirtation with the strange waters of guitar music, Bristol’s finest Xenomania drummer Florrie is back with a blistering. burbling, ElectroPop stormer. Taken from her forthcoming new EP, Sirens; due out in Spring, Seashells is a mixed bag of styles all shaken up with Florrie goodness.

Middle Eastern purcussion is just the first surprising element to Seashells. A tapestry of samples and witticisms that despite it’s wordily influences sounds particularly British. Florrie’s mantra vocals hook over booming kicks and chugging synths  to create something with an effortless, but infectious, energy and optimism. Maybe this is Florrie’s year finally?

[Audio] ATTAR! reMixes Coma Coast’s ‘1989’

Coma Coast

Belgian drum machine master ATTAR!’s latest reMix is released this week. As part of the reMix package for Coma Coast 1989/The Ritual double A-side, Renaud Deru injects a little strobe-light vibe into the ElectroPop release. Get ready for a hypnotic club stormer.

Going deep into the roots of House, ATTAR! serves up a little Chicago and a little Detroit in this warehouse collision. the machine beauty of early Techno meets the hedonistic groove of early House, replete with pulsating Bleep House basslines and doomy vocals. Taking the tunes title literally, this reMix perfectly conjures an underground late 80s mood, when the beats were raw and the bass heavy.

[Audio] Lightwaves’ ‘Warrior’

lightwaves_returned_02

Hold tight for another new tune for the re-formed, re-born Lightwaves. Following on from Starting To Believe and Returned we have Warrior. Surely Lightwaves must be gearing up for a proper release soon, the quality of these tunes seems to point in that direction.

Warrior harkens back to the pre-Lightwaves days of Yes Giantess. Indie in it’s sensibilities, Pop in it’s sound. An energetic affair with growling snyths laid thick and Jan belting out the vocals to create a Power Pop anthem. With dips and builds in just the right places, this is exactly the kind of track that would slay a crowd live.
