[Download] Russ Chimes’ ‘Motions’

Russ Chimes

So I’ve been sitting on a bunch of new music for a bit…” says one of our favourite producers Russ Chimes. We can’t help but feel that’s downright selfish of him. Is he sitting on the cure of cancer too? Anyway, the man is at least attempting to make it up to us by stating to deploy this backlog floorfillers. Today he hits the ground running with this first free download, Motions.

Motions is a high-octane belter of a tune. Beat and bassline heavy, the tune constantly builds on it’s frantic pace with layers and layers of purcussion. There two duelling basslines in place, a kind of post-EBM arpeggio and a rumbling warehouse shaker, that work together to really power the track along; leaving the rest of the track peppered with slightly shuffling hats, mantra vocal snatches and warm pads. And intoxicating tune from the British master.

[Audio] Plastic Plates & Sam Sparro’s ‘Stay In Love’

Plastic Plates

Earlier this month Felix Bloxsom A.K.A. the awesome Plastic Plates released his new single. Mixing up his luscious synthetic Disco with a little ElectroPop flair from good friend Sam Sparro, Stay In Love really is a slice of Pop excellence that, given the right exposure, could see Plastic Plates getting the recognition he heartily deserves, even charting.

Sparro’s voice glides like silk over this Italo inspired tune. The synths are warm and rich, particularly the bounce heave bassline, and the beats suitably House-y. This is probably the most Poppy Plastic Plates has gone to date, but that doesn’t mean this tune isn’t perfectly fit for the dancefloor. Like a chameleon, it could adapt itself beautifully to either radio play or peak time action.

[Download] Du Tonc cover Bruce Springsteen’s ‘I’m On Fire’

One of the nice things about two talents like MiGHty mOUse and Matt Van Schie working together is that you get a wealth of influences and interests brought to the table. The backgrounds of the Du Tonc members set themselves up for a nice ecclectic mix of tunes that can effortlessly span Nu-Disco and Indie-Electro encompassing the best of both.

As displayed here with their latest offering, a cover of Bruce Springsteen’s I’m On Fire. Wielding an easy groove, the twosome deliver a slo-mo Disco churner that was, fittingly, given birth when the song cam on the radio is they drove through Arizona. With chirpy synths and a warm bassline complimenting Matt’s gentle vocal, the track ends up sounding rather cinematic and conjuring up images of the road trip that inspired it.

[Download] Chordashian’s ‘Questions’

chordashian

Brooklyn Disco duo Chordashian are kicking off their 2014 with a new track and a new collaboration. This time the pair team up with fellow New york residents, sister ElectroPop double act Frances Rose, these classically trained girls add an air of beauty to this stomping tune. The track was written over the course of a year, which is quite a while really.

The duo call the track ‘”a break from our usual up-tempo releases”, but the track is actually pretty up-tempo anyway. Pumping Italo basslines and driving drums meet Frances Rose’s lilting vocal. Not quite as Disco as we are used to from these two, but a floorfiller nonetheless. this time the ElectroPop power shines through.

Bright is the new single from letthemusicplay. It features The Horrors’ frontman Faris Badwan, and is an ironically dark slice of vocal Techno.

[Audio] DyE & The Egyptian Lover’s ‘She’s Bad’

DyE

Time for some B-Boy beat now courtesy of French producer Juan De Guillebon A.K.A. DyE as he gears up for the release of his second album, Cocktail Citron via Tigersushi next month. This first taste of what to expect from the new record comes right here in the form of She’s Bad, a collaboration with West Coast Electro legend The Egyptian Lover.

As you would expect from this pairing, this is synth heavy retro grooves all the way. A six minute epic who’s mood is dividend into two parts. The first half of the track is classic Electro. 808 beats, dark keys and The Egyptian Lovers ominous tones. This is pure breakdance gold, a Sci-Fi soundtrack to urban decay. The track then descends into quite a playful synth jam, with 80s melodies and bouncy bass flowing together and drawing you into to their robotic world.

DyE’s Cocktail Citron is released 17th March.
