‘A New Word To Say’ was one of the tracks that go us into Bright Light Bright Light way back when Rod was a potential Pop star, rather than an the actual Pop star he is now. So with the release of his début album we’re quite pleased that ‘A New Word To Say’ has been given the video treatment.
Hollie Newton directs this clip, which looks simple but must have taken ages to film, and longer to edit.

The reigning champions of euphoric SynthPop The Sound Of Arrows have a new single incoming. Taken from their amazing ‘Voyage’ album, ‘Conquest’ is released next month.
The video is full of the best things ever, most notable a crystal powered DeLorean. It’s also loaded with classy, fantastical imagery and Stefan & Oskar doing that back to back slow-mo thing they love doing.

Introspective ElectroPop producer Aaron Alexis is back with a new track to haunt your dreams. Not loosing his particular unique style of ElectroPop based, Chillwave leaning Indie-Electro, Aaron’s new track is, at the same time, both warm and chilling.
‘Saboteurs’ is a throbbing electronic soundscape that draws lines between, Industrial, Chillwave and raw SynthPop. Reminiscant of parts of the recent M83 album and washed in the kinds of reverb usually reserved for Neon Indian, the contrast of the brittle synth bassline and the lush pads and LFO heavy organ sounds create a soundtrack where the instruments weave in and out of each other in a dreamlike way. Atop this sit Aaron’s trademark croon. Part seduction, part lament, part hipster drawl, the vocals glide across the track, ingratiating themselves as another instrument.

So, we’ve been fans of RAC reMix work for a few years now, they generally tend to release high quality tunes, and long time readers will know we’ve been supporting Chris Glover A.K.A. Penguin Prison since day one, so these idea of these two entities making a tune together was pretty exciting stuff. The end result, ‘Hollywood’, was surprisingly, gangly guitar laden, Indie. We were kinda’ disappointed, it was actually a really good song, but far too guitary to grace these pages. Enter The Magician to make things all better.
The Magician strips things back al little with this mix. He makes the decision, we think the correct decision, to let the highly melodic vocal carry the track musically. Which is a good move, to many melodies would have cluttered the track and keeping things to a simply riff allows the track room to breathe. Basically, we’ve been dying to hear this track with a dance beat and synths, The Magician has delivered.

French SynthWave master Lueur Verte returns this week with a brand new track. A follow up to a track released late last year. The original ‘Night Slasher’ was a moody, atmospheric slice of synthetic dread. How does ‘the Revenge’ measure up?
‘Night Slasher II (The Revenge)’ shared a lot in common with it’s predecessor. I suppose that’s natural for soundtrack inspired music, soundtrack normally have running musical beats and themes throughout to tie them together as a whole, and that’s the approach Lueur Verte has taken here. I’s still the same kinds of mysterious, dark SynthWave but the lurking horror has been replace with something more befitting an action sequence. The addition for more layered synths and a nod toward Industrial percussion gives the track more of a driving energy. If you want your Outrun Electro to cosiest of Italo basslines to give you a kick in the ass and Ice synths to send a chill down your spine, then Lueur Verte has you covered. SynthWave tune of the week.

Zimmer – May Mixtape ‘Sage Paradis‘ = It’s this months mixtape from Zimmer loaded with some of the best laid back Disco from the past couple of months. The tracklist drops tommorw, but we can tell you there is one of two track in there that we’ve been excited about for a while. We featured London Indie-Electro duo Bluebell and their forthcoming début single ‘Normal Heights’/‘Cinderella’ earlier in the month, now check out the brand new video for ‘Cinderella’.
