Moonlight Matters reMixed by Punks Jump Up

moonlight-matters

You can head over here for our waffle about Moonlight Matters and Gustraph’s new single, ‘Come For Me’. It’s a massive Pop track, with that twanging late ‘80’s digital bass and orchestral hits we love so much. The single is out today on Kitsuné Music, but if you’re just gagging to hear the reMix from London’s Punks Jump Up, well, you’re in luck aren’t you.

Punks Jump Up keep in touch with the late ‘80’s Pop ethos of the track but deconstruct the tune and reconstruct it in their own image. Awash with Electro Boogie, the reMix is a sweet mixture of House beats and B-Boy basslines. Punks Jump Up has also kept on working the orchestral hits, well, who wouldn’t? That would be just crazy. In keeping with the late ‘80’s vibe they’ve also added a little of their Acid tendencies with a burbling 303 hook running underneath that comes into it’s own on the big breakdown. As far as the reMixes go on the single, it’s definitely our favourite, a great addition to the package.

Syncroft’s ‘So Fresh’

Syncroft

Sarajevan Disco & SynthWave producer’s Syncroft latest jam is very very good. Check out my writing skills there I’ve been sitting here trying to think of what to write about ‘So Fresh’, but it’s hard ‘cos I keep getting distracted by how very very good it is. It’s like someone put all the things I like in instrumental dance music into a bowl and baked an Electro cake just for me.

So, Syncroft bills the track as Progressive House, well forget about that because it isn’t, let’s chalk that up to SoundClouds poor crop of genre choices. What it is is a melting pot if Disco, SynthWave and B-Boy Electro, and long time readers will know that’s pretty much all I need. On the prog side of things there is a slight Prog Trance groove to the track as a whole, especially in the beat and the lower bassline, and the sweeps, OK, so it is a bit Proggy, but on top of that you got this digital B-Boy bassline and twisting Disco leads and it all just works, OK? Oh I don;t care what it is, did I mention it was very very good?

Arsenal, Com Truise & Joakim

Arsenal

Belgian duo Arsenal’s new single arrives next week. We first featured these guys back in May 2010 and since then they’ve released a stray stream of pumping House tunes. Following on on from deep vocal House of ‘Melvin’, the new single ‘One Day At a Time’ features Mike Ladd on vocals and is loaded with some class choices in reMix talent including two of our top producers, Com Truise & Joakim.

Com Truise is, like, the public face of SynthWave. The SynthWave artist it’s cool for your Indie friends to like. So flying the flag for all things retro Electro, we always pay special attention to his tracks, and they are always mind-blowingly good. His mix of ‘One Day At a Time’ is no different. In fact it’s the highlight of the reMixes, with a funkin’ analog bassline and sweeping synths Com Truise turns the Housey vocal into something a bit more New Wave. Electro toms are just the icing on the cake in this track which boarders on electronic Soul at times. Joakim’s effort is a more sunrise affair, a bit Balearic, a bit Tropical, but with a unique rawness to it and an infectious ringing hook. The ‘One Day At  A Time’ collection also comes with Joakim’s ‘Dub’ and a version from JD Twitch Optimo, an excellent package.

Freak You reMixes Touch Tone

touch-tone

The world of the producer is very much like the cruellest corners of the animal kingdom. Producers stalk the plains, solitary and silent, hunting for stems. Occasionally stopping to sniff the air in the hope of catching the scent of an acapella vocal. A producer must work with stems at least once every two weeks to survive, in times of drought competition can be fierce, and when a new herd of stems is noticed many producers can fall upon it in a feeding frenzy. Actually, in the case of Touch Tone’s Home Away From Home’ we can see why, the vocal is spectacularly epic, it must be hard for a producer to resist the temptation.

On The Fruit Records main man Freak You, just couldn’t resist. And for that we are glad. He turns in this wonderful, lush, ‘90’s House mix complete with 909 drums, piano hook and and a piercing square wave lead that just screams ‘90’s Dance Pop. More than anything Freak You’s reMix is fun fun fun and conjures up the best of times dancing your ass off in the ‘90’s. Freak You;’s reMix will keep a smile on my face all day!

Capital Cities reMix Ernest Saint Laurent

Ernest Saint Laurent

In their latest release, Californian ElectroPoppers Capital Cities step up for reMix duties for Frenchman Ernest Saint Laurent and his Tatiana Heintz featuring track ‘Offering’. The result is some blissed out sunrise Pop.

Carried along on the vocals of Tatiana Heintz from Franco-German Folk duo Okou who creates an uplifting, deep mood that allows Capital Cities to get a little Ballieric as they mix things up. Throwing a bit of that beach vibe into the mix they churn up a deep, warm Housey, ElectroPop track that envelopes you like a comfortable blanket. Full of rich synth pads and a Funk fuelled arpeggiated bassline, Capital Cities capture the mood perfectly.

Brodinski’s ‘Nobody Rules The Streets’

Brodinski

OK, this track has been kicking around in out Inbox for the better part of a month now, we’ve been um’ing and ah’ing about whether to post it or not, but in trying to make the decision we’ve listened to it so much that we’re pretty hooked on it now. So we’re posting it. It’s like a self-fulfilling prophesy, the mere act of considering posting it results in a post. That, and the tracks is bizarrely badass.

So here’s Brodinski’s third release on his new Bromance imprint. The single is actually a double A-Side with Club Cheval’s ‘Now U Realise’, a proper dark Rave track on one side and Brodinski’s own ‘Nobody Rules The Streets’ on the other. ‘Streets’ features, again, Louisahhh!!! on vocals and, for a moody, gritty, Rave tune is surprisingly Poppy. Catchy and rabble rousing, in that way early ‘90’s Indie sometimes was, complete with police sirens, ‘Nobody Rules The Streets’, has got a bit of a Simian Mobile Disco circa ADSR vibe to it, which I think is why we like it so much.

CHEW LiPS & Lieke

Chew Lips on Myrtle court

Here’s the first reMix of CHEW LiPS awesome ‘comeback’ single ‘Do You Chew?’ that we are really feeling. It comes from new Polish producer Lieke, who get’s all proggy on out asses.

His mix of ‘Do You Chew?’ is a deep House groove with ElectroPop sensibilities. Gone is the original’s raw energy and choppy beats to be replaced with a slick, classy groove. This gentle dance track, rather than neutering the original, merely changes it into something new. The sense of danger and chaos has been excised, this track isn’t about exciting Indie dancefloors, this is about smooth sunrise moments. Incorporating elements of ‘90’s House, Euphoric Trance and a whole lot of Prog, Lieke isn’t going to slay any dancefloors with this mix, but he will soundtrack quite a few more chilled moments. Job done.
