[Video] Punks Jump Up, Dubka and Saint Saviour’s ‘Feels Good’

Punks Jump Up, Martin Dubka and Saint Saviour’s Feels Good is definitely a strong contender for one of the tunes of the year. Insanely funk DiscoPop that has now gone and got itself a video.

Andrew Barone and Davide Caselli put together this clip with a couple of familiar faces and a couple of familiar locations. Mucking around in Dalston basically.

Feels Good is out now.

[Audio] Mitch Murder reMixes Kristine

Kristine

Greece’s finest, retro Pop artist Kristine’s Modern Love EP is released this week. We had a look at the title track and Powerglove’s reMix a while back, but, of course, one of the track on the EP we were particularly looking forward to was this reMix of The Danger by SynthWave king Mitch Murder. Mitch and Kristine previously collaborated on an amazing track called Feel The Air, so the thought of these two teaming up again was pretty exciting.

And the track doesn’t disappoint, and it will put an immediate smiley on your face. It’s put epic soundtrack Pop that could easily be the lead song from a mid-80s action flick soundtrack. The vocal track that makes a good single, but still works well in the context of the film. Soulful and moody, both Mitch and Kristine are pitch perfect on this track. Gentle arpeggios, lush pianos and a vintage beat alongside Murder’s trademark digital bass and Kristine’s Stevie Nicks-esque vocals, all work just right, slowest building toward the dramatic finale. The pinnacle of retro Pop.

[MP3] Lindstrøm’s vocal edit of ‘Vōs-Sākō-Rv’ + reMixes

Lindstrøm

By now I’m sure you’ve all read out massively gushing review of frosty Disco dude Lindstrøm’s new album, Smalhans, and most likely got down at some point to the preceding Todd Terje reMixes that ushered the album in. So you’ll be aware that after the chilly reception his last record received (although we loved it) Lindstrøm is most definitely back on the Scani-Disco map. This rush of good feeling must be warming his tundra heat as the man is giving away a vocal edit, not found on the album, of Vōs-Sākō-Rv for no kroner, no øre. Nice!

So, is this the album version of Vōs-Sākō-Rv with vocals. Well, sort of. If by vocals you mean some “do-do-do”s along with the tune then yes, yes it is. But y’know what? The “do-do-do”s are brilliant. The track is already a funky as hell, quirky, synthetic Disco tune, which was catchy enough as it is. But having someone else sing along to the infectious hook just implants it in your head even more. This is total fun Disco. There’s also a couple of reMixes from the album kicking around you should check out. Glasgow’s Miaoux Miaoux is really starting to make a name for himself and further cements that reputation right here with a twisted Acidic Funk take on Rà-Àkõ-St. MM’s reMix is loaded with cosmic apreggios and Sci-Fi riffs while Slick Shoota takes the same track and whips it into a kinda of classic House/Speed Garage mashup.

[MP3] Hot Hot Hawk & Patrick Baker

Hot Hot Hawk & Patrick Baker

American retro ElectroPopper Patrick Baker has not only made an extremely impressive name for him self in a short time but is also fast becoming the king of collaborations. There’s not many singers floating around the SynthWave/Outrun scene, so when one comes along as talented as Baker I guess everyone wants a crack at vocal stuff. His most recent collaboration is this new single with one of Russia’s finest, Hot Hot Hawk.

Electric Touch, the fruit of this union, get’s it’s proper release around X-Mas on a compilation album titled Disco Deluxe Vol. 3. Until then they guys are giving away the track at the link below. Should you choose to download you’ll be treated to Patrick’s hushed, authentically 80s US Pop, vocals flowing effortlessly over HHH’s pumping digital bass and mystical retro synths. Definitely worth a look-in for anyone who loves classic 80s Pop, this tune has a touch of SynthWave, a touch of Electronic Soul, even a little Disco in there. With all those vintage synth sounds, epic lead lines and Baker’s slick vocal, how can you go wrong?

[Video] Icona Pop’s ‘We Got The World’

It’s the video for insane Swedish ElectroPop duo Icona Pop’s We Got The World. It’s probably the most commentarial track they’ve done, big Trance leads and all.

Fredrik Etoall directs the clip. Be warned, Icona Pop are having more fun than you.

[MP3] Alfa reMixes DCup

DCup

It’s another of Binary boy Alfa few and far between tracks. A tune that serves as a reminder why we’d love to hear more from this guy. This time his LA funk is applied to DCup’s recent single, I’m Corrupt. Watch Alfa get breezy, beach party, all over this tune.

Showing exactly why the Binary crew are still the kings of Dreamwave, Alfa take the funkier end of the genre and hits the ground running with a body moving digital bass and squelchy Moogs strait out of a 70s Funk record. Slick, buzzing synths and a little Disco lick underpin the kiddy vocals of the original and the whole thing end up great fun. Pure good times Nu-Disco with that particular LA groove. Oi, Alfa! More please!

[MP3] Plastic Plates reMixes The Presets

The Presets

This is easily the best reMix of the new material from Australia’s kings of ElectroPop The Presets so far. Coming from one of our favourite producers Plastic Plates, this reMix follows his recent trend of reworking single from Aussie Indie-Electro acts and this time he really gets to 100% spot-on.

The track, Plastic Plates’ reMix of The Preset’s forthcoming now single, Promises, strikes a nice balance between synthetic Nu-Disco and 80s SynthPop. it’s got a solid Disco groove that builds into nice big-room sound, but pairs this with some really interesting synth flourishes. There’s a percussion style arpeggio that has got more than a little of a Yazoo vibe to it, couple that with Julian Hamilton’s dry vocal wit and you’ve got a track with classic dancefloor appeal but a deep retro soul. Great Job all round. You can download the MP3 for free at the link below, and be sure to check out The Preset’s new album, Pacifica, it’s pretty stunning.

Keenhouse’s new album, Four Dreams’ is still getting a lot of play round these parts. It’s pretty much an electronic masterpiece. One of the tracks from it, Can’t Sleep Since, is now presented in cyber-psychedelic video form.

Produced by Keenhouse himself, the clip is a nice early 90s style CG freak out.
