Chris Malinchak’s new EP

Chris Malinchak’s new sounds on the French Express label is his forthcoming EP ‘Make Your Move’, with the awesome ‘Another Day’ as the B-Side.

The title track is the perfect summer nights Nu-Disco track. A solid groove, snatched of vocoder and wicked licks in a melting pot of Funk, for the height of the party. When the sun starts. to come up, though, is when ‘Another Day’ comes into play with it’s distant, dreamy ElectroPop vibe with a Disco sheen

Apparently, bustin’ makes SaiR feel good

I don’t know what to say about this really.

SaiR’s pretty much made my weekend re-editing Ray Parker Jr.’s ‘Ghostbusters’, he’s done a really good job too.

Just listen.

Lazydisco’s ‘More Tigers’

Lazydisco is Fred Oliveira from Rockets, and he’s about to drop a brand new single on Discotexas.

‘More Tigers’ is an incredibly summery slice of quite laidback Disco which kinda’ works on three layers. There’s a layer of nice 80’s chords for that nostalgic feelgood factor, them some cosmic synth work which create a chilled vibe toped of with some 90’s House piano which nicely keeps the energy going. That’s a recipe for success! reMixes come courtesy of a whole host of awesome artists such as In Flagranti, The C90s, Xinobi, Mirror People, MODE and this track from Coupons who go deep and progressive on the tune with a hypnotic and slightly oriental flavour.

Peter & The Magician’s ‘Twist’ EP

Peter & The Magician, also known as Yuksek and Stephen Fasano, ex-one half of Aeroplane, recently dropped their début EP in Kitsuné Music, and what an EP is it.

There is something really authentically retro about the three tracks on the ‘Twist’ EP. the title track you will have already heard by now, it featured on Kitsuné’s ‘Maison 11’, it’s like an stripped down, analog, Yuksek track. The other two tracks go deeper down the 80’s rabbit hole. ‘La Fiorentia’ is a Vince Clarke-esque ElectroPop instrumental with a Yellow Magic Orchestra melody, and ‘Love In Rimini’, my personal favourite, is B-Boy Electro incarnate with a Sci-Fi Disco. twist Awesome stuff.

Blue Satellite’s ‘Aurora’ EP

Blue Satellite’s new EP dropped yesterday, and it’s a pretty awesome cosmic journey through electronic funk and Disco.

Philip Schwan, A.K.A. Blue Satellite, has given us two perfectly crafted tracks of Space-funk with a Dreamwave edge. ‘Aurora Pt. I’ layers a killer Funk bass with shimmering retro synths and a melody that is pure 70’s Japanese Sci-Fi anime star-travel sequence, topped of with a soaring Disco solo toward the end. The whole thing works amazingly together. It’s both got a serious groove and is a beautiful composition. ‘Aurora Pt. II’ is more of a Dreamwave affair reminiscing of the good old Valerie stuff but keeping Blue Satellite’s talent for basslines in the mix.

The EP is filled out with some top quality reMixes. Take a listen to Japanese DJ Taku-Hero A.K.A.Kill The Hero and electronic rumors favourite Show Your Shoe’s versions.

Teenage Bad Girl’s ‘Backwash’

Paris duo Teenage Bad Girl’s combination of ElectroPop and abrasive Electro has always has a Rocky edge to it, but their new album boarders on straight-up ElectroRock at times.

There’s heavy use of Rock samples throughout, but that only adds to the melodic chaos that is ‘Backwash’. Powerful distorted analog synths run all the way through the album but aside from that it’s a record that flips from one style to another, regularly, and with relative ease. There’s the big ElectroRock we’ve already heard in the album’s first single ‘Keep Up With You’ and the vocoder and guitar mash-up of ‘The Wave’ which rubs up against some beautiful synthetic Electro tracks like ‘Hold Me Tight’ and ‘Fast Blood Delivery’, a pure 90’s rave tune in ‘Fright Night’ and the Chicago House of ‘Tonton Funk’. If you’re into upfront electronic dance music then there will be something for you to love in this album.

Personally I favour the more synthesizer based tracks on ‘Backwash’, check out my two favourites and revisit the single, ‘Keep Up With You’. The whole album can be streamed here.

Gigamesh re-edits The Popular People’s Front

I was turned onto this Gigamesh edit of Disco troupe The Popular People’s Front’s ‘Part Over Here’ after Ride The Universe’s appearance on Fear Of Tigers’ ‘The Guestlist’ show.

The addition of an Electro beat and a nice running arpeggio really adds to the track and highlights that awesome Funk bass. This track becomes the ultimate expression of Cosmic Disco, perfect for partying in the sunshine (when it gets here!). Gigamesh’s EP won’t be here until August apparently, so it’s a good job he’s turning out edits like this one to keep us going until then!

Ren Riz and Van Go Lion team up

One of the unsung heroes of the Melbourne Nu-Disco scene Ren Riz’s latest track came as a total surprise. but a very welcome one.

Teaming up with awesome electronic Pop duo Van Go Lion, Ren drops ‘Faces’, an total high energy Disco influenced ElectroPop track. The big vocals of Van Go Lion’s Amy in combination with Ren’s digital slap bass and big 80’s chords make a whole that is greater than the sum of it’s parts. A total Nu-Electro-Disco-Pop workout that should have you heading straight for the dancefloor.

Overthrill returns with new track

Finally! Overthrill is back in the game!

Oh how we’ve missed his massive cut-up chainsaw disco. His new track ‘Perfect Match’ he goes straight for the Electro jugular with more broken Disco than even the most steadfast Ed Banger fan could handle. It’s four minutes of killer bass and Disco samples fed through a blender and the funkiest thing I’ve heard this week so far!
