German dancefloor rocker Overthrill has dropped something a bit special to keep you moving during the holidays.
‘Disco Music’, pull in DNA from the high points of Daft Punk and Justice’s careers and wraps them up in Overthrill’s own unique take on Electro and Nu-Disco. Driven by a juggernaut funk bassline and sweet melodic vocoding ‘Disco Music’ maybe the spiritual successor to ‘Harder, Better, Faster, Stronger’ but Overthrill has created a tune to keep the dancefloor jumping on it’s own merit.
Oh how we’ve missed his massive cut-up chainsaw disco. His new track ‘Perfect Match’ he goes straight for the Electro jugular with more broken Disco than even the most steadfast Ed Banger fan could handle. It’s four minutes of killer bass and Disco samples fed through a blender and the funkiest thing I’ve heard this week so far!
Those fine folk at Shiny Disco Club Records have put together an insanely good compilation of quality Nu-Disco madness and they’re giving it away for free!
The compilation gives us 28 tracks of pure electronic funky genius from a dazzling array of Disco House talent such as Louis La Roche, Bit Funk, Vanguard, LBCK, Moonchild, Overthrill, Rockets, Xinobi and NightDrugs, just to name a few.
Louis La Roche’s ‘Airwave’ and Overthrill’s ‘Wildchild’ are two fine examples of the dancefloor mayhem you’ll find within and Xinobi’s ‘Varial Kickflip’ is an awesome 80’s solo odyssey that had to be heard to be believed!
Overthrill probably isn’t a new name to many readers of electronic rumors. Having dropped some awesome EPs (and killer Mixtapes) in the last couple of years, German producer Sebastian Bentler joins the dots between the Valerie crew’s melodic, smooth Dreamwave sound and the Ed Banger posse’s Noisy French Electro.
And the point in the middle of those dots is pretty epic!
One a duo, now solo, Sebastian is pretty prolific when it comes to releases, with four EPs and a handful of singles under his belt in the last few years (Sebastian handles all the artwork too) and more in the pipeline Overthrill have somehow managed to consistently knock out banger after banger. Pleasing both the blogs and the clubs.
Overthrill’s most recent EP, ‘The Upper Worlds’ is a prime example of their head on collision between Disco and Distorted Electro, funky and in-your-face at the same time.
