Even more Futurecop! ‘Starworshipper’ reMixes

It has been suggested to me that I was less than complete with my selection of entries in Futurecop!’s ‘Starworshipper’ reMix contest, so let’s put that right!

Sarah from Holographic People rightly pointed out to me that the Young Digerati mix easily deserved recognition. And she’s so right, I don’t know how I left it out, if you go and look at the SoundCloud page for the track you’ll see me raving about it when it was first released so how I forgot it I don’t know. Mind like a sieve! It’s an amazing piece of work that just proves Young Digerati are on their way ‘up’!

Commenter Larry sent me in the direction of the second reMix here, by Lenno, who is a just 16! Seriously! Which kinda’ blows my mind. I hadn’t heard this mix before and I am so glad I have now. This slick Dreamwavey mix will defiantly have me checking out more of Lenno’s stuff.

More Futurecop! ‘Starworshipper’ reMixes

With Futurecop!’s ‘Starworshipper’ reMix competition over, and congrats to MPM for the win, we thought this would be a good time to let you check out some of the awesome ‘also rans’.

We’ve already posted the MPM winning entry and Sferro’s smooth mix, but up there as a serious contender for the crown is Ren Riz’s perfect slice of Dreamwave DancePop that compliments and builds on the original with style.  Silenx’s ‘Sunrise reMix’ injects a little synthesizer emotion into the track with his big retro chords and little additional melodies that nicely layer up the track. For those of you wanting something to beef-up the tune check Owl Vision’s, ahem, bang0r, that takes your face and slams it into the dancefloor.

Amazing work by everyone involved.

Futurecop!’s ‘Starworshipper’ reMix winner!

Futurecop! have announced the winner of their ‘Starworshipper’ reMix contest. The reMix, picked personally be Futurecop! to appear on their forthcoming EP is by MPM.

MPM’s mix was one of our favourites too. MPM runs a blog dedicated to old 80’s electronic soundtracks and the music it influenced at MPM Soundtracks which is one of our regular reads, it’s always entertaining and MPM digs up the best nostalgic videos. His reMix of ‘Starworshiper’ follows on in the blogs tradition with a slick 80’s/Dreamwave feel that puts the original song into cruise control.

Futurecop! & Sferro

Futurecop! are currently running a reMix competition for their forthcoming EP ‘Starworshipper’ (that’s right, they are not content with their summer crushing single ‘Dreams’ blowing up right now, ‘Starworshipper’ is out next month!).

Sferro, the head-honcho of the awesome Girlfriend Records gang has turned the track into a chilled synthetic ballad with an almost Old School Electro beat. I can so imagine B-Boys in the 80’s spinning on lino and poppin’ & lockin’ to this tune! The original vocals are pretty 80’s anyway, the beat in this reMix just highlights the fact. I guess when you get two 80’s loving acts like Futurecop! and Sferro together this kinda’ of thing is bound to happen. Let hope it happens more!

Binary Week: Futurecop! & Keenhouse’s Dreams

Wow, when two acts you love collaborate it’s always exciting, but sometimes they just go above and beyond your expectations.

I’ve been hammering Futurecop!’s first album ‘It’s Forever Kids’ since I imported it late last year (unfortunately it’s still not available outside of Japan yet), it’s truly one of the slickest and confident ElectroPop débuts I’ve heard in years. The production is crisp as hell and the uplifting 80’s inspired melodies and catchy riffs are pure infectious genius. Keenhouse, I think, was the first Binary act I encountered. Introduced to him through the Valerie collective, ‘Deep In The Forest’ was one of my favourite tracks on the ‘Valerie And Friends’ compilation and the whole of his ‘Civic Transit’ EP is a masterclass in melodic electronic Disco.

So, what happens when these to get together?

♫ Futurecop! (Feat. Keenhouse)- Dreams

That does!

Already, in my head, ‘Dreams’ is the soundtrack to summer 2011. The synth work is unmistakably Futurecop!, especially the intro, but with a more self assured sound. Couple that with Keenhouse’s verses full of longing and choruses full of hope and your have not only an anthem, a classic in the making, but also a track that seems to sum up completely what Dreamwave, what Binary, is all about. Musically a massive dancefloor tune that is also melodic and a proper song, a damn well written one at that and atmospherically aspirational with a hint of realism. Nostalgic for better times but with a down-to-earth approach.

Did I mention it’s funky as hell?

The reMix package is pretty mind-blowing too, featuring the cream of current producers! You can always rely on ODahl to drop some kicking Nu-Disco and here is no different as he wraps the song in soaring riffs and side-chaining while electronic rumors faves, the Ride The Universe crew take ‘Dreams’ to smooth new directions with a total feelgood Dreamwave track. Newcomer Show Your Shoe gets his first official reMix on this single, and really impresses with his début, a late night DiscoPop tune with a big nod to late 80’s R&B.

‘Dreams’ is out today on Binary, go get it here, here, here or here, and stay tuned to electronic rumors for our profile and interview with Keenhouse, as part of our Binary week, tomorrow!

We will also be featuring an interview with Futurecop! next month as they prepare for the release of their ‘Starworshiper’ EP.

Futurecop! – Venice Beach

Here was have the latest offering from one of the UK’s most criminally underrated acts.

The Manchester/London ElectroPop duo of Futurecop! are currently gearing up for the release of their début long player (which those lucky Japanese can already get their hands on!) ‘It’s Forever, Kids’. The album is said to contain more ‘proper’ Pop songs, featuring guest vocalists, alongside their retro inspired Nu-Disco sound. Songs like ‘Venice Beach’ (co-produced by Worship), featuring Ricco Vitalio on vocals. Check the video for some California style ElectroPop goodness!

The track is an easy reminder of why Futurecop! are one of the UK’s top synth outfits and can effortlessly stand toe-to-toe with the very beat Dreamwave from France or LA. I just wish they’d release more!

Futurecop! (Feat. Ricco Vitalio) – Venice Beach

There’s a couple of reMixes too, from two producers we’ve hyped up here at electronic rumors before. The one and only Frankie Barretso drops his track straight on the dancefloor with a massive Disco mix while France’s 4TrakZ more Electro take on the track still keeps it funky with a killer bassline.

Futurecop! will be releasing their album to the rest of the world in 2011.

Futurecop!, back to the future!

Futurecop! are back! Awesome!

The duo, who were there right at the beginning of this retro synth epidemic we now call Dreamwave, are releasing a reMix album titled ‘The reMixes ♥’ to tide us over while they work on their début long player.

The album will feature reMixes of, and by, Futurecop! from the likes of Anoraak, Digikid84, Stephen Falken and Lauren Flax. Also included is this reMix of Dreams by Silicone Project, which just sums up everything that is exiting about Futurecop!. The analog synth burbling, the big 80’s chords, the uplifting (in an 80’s teen movie way) melodies and the retro funk.

Futurecop! – Dreams (Silicone Project reMix)

‘The reMixes ♥’ drops 31st August on FutureFlashs’ Kiez Beats label.

Valerie And Friends

ValerieAndFirends

Tomorrow sees the release of the incredibly eagerly anticipated first compilation from the Valerie collective.

I can’t stress enough how team Valerie are producing some of the best synthesizer music around today, their particular take on Electro-House comes with a huge helping of retro 80’s cool. With a definite slant toward 80’s soundtracks (particularly of the straight-to-video teen/horror/action variety) you can’t help but imagine all the various acts involved hanging out and watching 80’s pulp movies before heading off to their studios

Featuring retro graphic design work, as usual, by The Zonders, the line up for the album is Minitel Rose, Anoraak, Jupiter, DVAS, College, Keenhouse, Electric Youth, Russ Chimes, Maethelvin, The Outrunners, Futurecop!, Moulinex & Press, Release, SymbolOne, Xinobi, Narctrax, Loose Shus and Steve Moore.

Here are Futurecop! and Russ Chimes’ contributions; both great examples of the Valerie sound and what to expect on this record, soaring leads, disco beats and crazy arpeggios…

Russ Chimes – Daytona (zShare) (MediaFire)

The Valerie gang are soon launching  their new site, ValerieCollective, and ‘Valerie and Friends‘ is released May 27th on ESR.
