[Video] letthemusicplay’s ‘Bright’

letthemusicplay Feat. Faris Badwan Bright YouTube

Bright is the new single from letthemusicplay. It features The Horrors’ frontman Faris Badwan, and is an ironically dark slice of vocal Techno.

Here’s the pseudo-lyric video, a Dave Mckean-esque collection of creepy imagery.

letthemusicplay’s Bright is released later this month.

John Dahlbäck reMixes letthemusicplay

letthemusicplay

Y’know, there’s only two good reasons we can think of for ‘mystery’ (*gag*) outfit letthemusicplay to keep their identities secret. Either they are really, really, ugly, or the *ahem* “famous producers” they are are really shit. It’s probably David Guetta and Will.I.Am, so embarrassed by their terrible back catalogues they are attempting to start afresh. So in letthemusicplay’s case we will wave our growing tedium with ‘mystery’ outfits and say it’s probably a good idea.

Because the music is really good, even if the marketing is nauseating. Both letthemusicplay’s recent collaborations with Cardiff’s Until The Ribbon Breaks have been impressive as hell, and this new reMix of Don’t Weigh Me Down by renowned Sweedish producer John Dahlbäck just adds to that pile. The track, which was recently aired by Annie Mac on her Radio 1 show, is a powerhouse tune that really rolls with the vibe of the original and layers it up with some big dancefloor moments. While not quite as deep and involving as the infectious original the biting chainsaw synths that lead into massive Electro-House riffs are sure to keep the dancefloor moving.

letthemusicplay’ Don’t Weigh Me Down’

letthemusicplay

letthemusicplay are back, once again teaming up with Cardiff’s Until The Ribbon Breaks. The duo have released a new single, so soon after their ‘All I can Give You’ single. Only this time their new record is absolutely free. Check out ‘Don’t Weigh Me Down’ and it’s reMix.

We suspect that letthemusicplay are preparing themselves for festival season with these big, anthemic, hypnotic tracks. Acid riffs pile on high in a track that builds and builds while UTRB mantra floats repetitively on top, in a particularity Underworld-esque way. It’s a track to completely loose yourself in, both forward thinking and quite classic sounding, and one to drop when you’ve got the crowd nice and lubed up. letthemusicplay themselves have supplied the reMix, which brings a healthy dose of warp bass to the table. Both cut are very solid slices of classic Dance that can be fit in anywhere, but preferable in a field at 4am. Oh, and FYI, we couldn’t give a fuck who they are.

Errors reMix letthemusicplay

letthemusicplay

It’s always with some degree of trepidation that I approach email that mention Errors. When they are good, they are very good. Lush, moody ElectroPop that channels the best of Sheffield and Manchester in the ‘80’s, when they aren’t so good, it’s Indie dirge and contrived lyrics. Thankfully they normally fall into the latter category, but every new song is still a gamble. So let me put your mind at rest, their reMix of letthemusicplay’s forthcoming single is good. Relax.

‘All I Can Give You’ marks mysterious producer duo letthemusicplay’s third release and features the vocal stylings of Cardiff’s Until The Ribbon Breaks. Combined with Errors’ smokey Northern synth sounds it makes a track that revels in it’s melancholy, without going to far over to the dark side. Like the best Italo, Errors reMix darkness is shot thorough with a bolt of optimism, mostly played out through the driving arpeggios and work to counter the minor tones. Errors reMix of letthemusicplay instantly hits you with the best of early Yorkshire SynthPop, late ‘80’s Italo, Factory Records back catalogue and the tiniest touch of Disco in there for the dancefloors. Quite a feat, quite a reMix.
