[Audio] Cosmic Sand’s ‘Find Me’

Cosmic Sand

Portuguese SynthWave producer Cosmic Sand is back with a brand new single. The last we heard from this guy was November last year’s Route 375 EP, now he’s sidled over to Future City Records and bring some huge synth sounds with him. Billed as the Find Me At The Bay Tonight EP, the release is really a single consisting of the lead track Find Me and it’s B-side, 9h00, with reMixes supplied by Vincenzo Salvia, Nightcrawler and Dorian.

Find Me is a rich slice of SynthWave with the kind of multi facetted production and musical narrative that draws you in as each minute passes. Built on involving, syncopated, beat that hovers just one step away from Drum & Bass, and ringing vintage synths, Find Me keeps adding fresh elements to the layers of soundtrack synths. Whether bringing in hints of turntablism, unexpected Funk riffs or adding more to the rich, emotional retro keys, Cosmic Sand delivers an enriching experience. The B-side, 9h00, is more traditional SynthWave fare, resonating Italo hooks and a pulsating digital bassline are the order of the day here, whist not as innovative as Find Me, it certainly delivers the SynthWave goods and plays with some intoxicating lead lines. An excellent release from Cosmic Sand, and one you should check out.

[Audio] Plastic Plates’ ‘Come On Strong’

Plastic Plates

Felix Bloxsom A.K.A. the awesome Plastic Plates, has finally poked his head out from his studio and furnished us with a brand new tune, and it’s been a while. With this new tune he’s no only sowing off a new direction, but that he’s lost none of his talent for moving the dancefloor.

Come On Strong is pure House. Even Plastic Plates most recent track, his reMix of Para One’s Every Little Thing, back in March, still had a strong Disco undercurrent, but Come On Strong is 100% Chicago warehouse fodder. Working both an early 90s House sound and a more contemporary club vibe, Felix effortlessly commands the tracks six minute length, creating an every building symphony of deep basses, hypnotic vocal samples and hammered Rave leads that’ll have you reaching for the white gloves in no time. An excellent example of both jackin;’ and Deep House that’s already being supported by the likes of Alex Metric, Aeroplane, Touch Sensitive, and Cassian.

[MP3] Fear Of Tigers’ Twisted Biscuit’

Fear Of Tigers

Here’s the latest incoming dancefloor bomb from Mr. Fear Of Tigers and we can exclusively reveal it right here. Still in it’s demo infancy, Twisted Biscuit is already an absolute big room beast, loaded with floorfilling highs. Mr. Tigers is still working on Hypnerotomachia Poliphiliout (the follow up to 2009’s incredible Cossus Snufsigalonica), an album that is so eagerly awaited round these parts it’s just not funny, although his precious time has also recently been filled producing the likes of this.

So out next taste of things-to-come comes in the form of Twisted Biscuit, a high octane, euphoric, tune so huge you need to back off the speakers to give it some room. It’s got that classic Fear Of Tigers emotional rush, and retro chord progressions, but with a massive contemporary sound. Loaded with horns too! This one’s got it all, can’t wait for the album.

[Audio] Let Em Riot’s ‘Say What You Need To Say’ (Arcade High reMix)

Let Em Riot

Stop what you’re doing, even if it’s important. The only people authorised to continue with whatever they are up to are people who have others lives in their hands (in which case; get off the internet!). There’s a new single from Orange Country Dreamwave master Let Em Riot. This man is easily one of the most talented ElectroPop producers working today. We know what you’re thinking; are we saying that because we released his SlashWave EP, or did we release his SlashWave EP because we thought that? To which we’d like to counter with “shut up and listen to Let Em Riot’s new single”.

Say What You Need To Say is quintessential Let Em Riot. The big secret of Let Em Riot’s appeal is his knack of being able to mix utterly nostalgic SynthWave music that you can’t help but love with truly heartfelt lyrics that really resonate with people without resorting to cliché or tropes. And that’s exactly what he does here, laying his heart out on a backing of comforting synthesizer music. Nostalgia and emotion, what more do you want from a SynthPop tune? The single also comes equipped with a reMix from another excellent, and increasingly vocal, SynthWave artist, Arcade High, who brings the track in a slightly more traditional Outrun direction with his trademark added ChipTune spice, making the perfect compliment. The single is available on Bandcamp for a fee of name-your-price. You’d better name something that is at least higher than a four…we’re watching you!

[Audio] The Sanfernando Sound reMixes Miss Kittin’s ‘Maneki Neko’

miss kittin

We’ve got something a little special up now in the form of Manchester’s finest SynthPop producer The Sanfernando Sound’s reMix of the forthcoming new single from Miss Kittin. The reMix of Maneki Neko is actually TSS’s entry in the currently running Maneki Neko reMix competition, but you wouldn’t think so just hearing it. Both production and arrangement are well about usual reMix competition standards as The Sanfernando Sound delivers a polished tune that could have come straight from the official release.

What we’ve got here is a contemporary take on classic SynthPop and Italo. Using vintage synth sounds and an enigmatic groove, The Sanfernando Sound builds a retro-futuristic, and quite haunting, slice of SynthPop around a modern dance music arrangement. So you’re presented with robotic beats and 80s synths, which obviously work perfectly with Miss Kittin’s vocals, fitting them selves around big breakdowns and builds. Which means this one would work on a variety of dancefloors. It’s an excellent tune, and one well worthy of your quick vote.

[MP3] Futurewife reMixes Yasmin’s ‘Thinking About You’

yasmin

The latest track from Seattle based Nu-Disco producer Futurewife comes in the form of this cheeky reMix of London Soulstress Yasmin’s Thinking About You. Proclaiming the track one of his “favorite tracks this year”, we imagine Futurewife couldn’t resist having a crack at the tune. What producer wouldn’t want to get their hands on those vocals?

Thinking About You is originally a cover of the 1985 Whitney Huston hit, which Yasmin more than does justice. With a slight Caron Wheeler inflection to her voice, Yasmin makes for the perfect subject for a sweet Nu-Disco reMix, and Futurewife really steps up to the plate. Bringing a smooth poolside vibe to the track, Futurewife works slick little Disco licks and haunting synth riffs for an atmospheric, but effortlessly funky, vibe. It;s a nice combination of being upbeat enough for the dancefloor and dreamy enough to chill too. Enjoy.

[MP3] Oliver reMixes Bonnie McKee’s ‘American Girl’

Bonnie McKee

LA based Oliver themed Nu-Disco duo Oliver go especially large with their latest reMix. Inhabiting a mid-way point between their older smoother Dreamwave Nu-Disco style and some of their more recent, more commercial Electro-House output, this reMix of upcoming American Pop singer Bonnie McKee’s ‘American Girl’ could see the guys getting some major attention.

Imagine someone walked up to you and said “here is a catchy, sing-a-long Pop tune that has been reMixed for the big room”, that’s exactly what Oliver have delivered here. Everything is turned up to 11, big synths, big beats, big riffs. This one obviously been geared to appeal to America’s current wave of dance music frenzy, but still retains that classic Oliver ,musicality and soulful flare to give it the edge on the competition.
