Rimer London & Renkas

rimeroni

You’ll probably know by now we here at electronic rumors are pretty big fans of Rimer London. Rimeroni Vumani’s analog, really synthetic, Disco sound just does it for us.

His recent single ‘Put Your Gun Away’ has been reMixed by, amongst others, Renkas for the reMix package. Renkas bring his laid back, almost Tropical, Electro Disco take on the track. A bouncy analog synth fans dream, this reMix is both retro and futuristic.

The undisputed Russian kings of smooth ElectroPop Tesla Boy’s ‘Thinking Of You’ has been given a Toomy Disco workout.

Thinking Of you’ is one of the standout tracks on Tesla Boy’s already standout album and Toomy Disco give it the bright sparkly Disco edit treatment. This one’s all about the bouncy bass and shimmering synths from the original turned up to 11. In Toomy Disco’s own words: “If you think this is cheesy, go to hell and bring me some candies ♥".

Fear Of Tigers reMix competition!

cat-keyboard-space1

That is a Cat On A Keyboard In Space, you can be on your keyboard all over one of Fear Of Tigers’ best loved tunes, ‘The Adventures Of Pippi Longstrump’ as he launches what I’m sure will prove to be an exciting reMix competition.

In 2009 Fear Of Tigers released hid début album ‘Cossus Snufsigalonia’, which was one of the best albums of the year and, bewilderingly, given away for free. ‘The Adventures Of Pippi Longstrump’ (or ‘Pippi’ to it’s friends) was an immediate hit and pretty much summed up everything we Retro Electro/Dreamwave/ElectroPop fans were looking for. It was even on the telly!

Fast forward to 2011 and FoT is gearing up to release a brand new album, ahead of witch will be coming some reworks of the older tunes getting an official release. Possibly including your reMix alongside the likes of Diamond Cut and Edwin Van Cleef?

You can find the lowdown on the reMix completion here and grab all the stems right here. It’s gonna’ be a tough fight though, with judging alongside FoT will be Justin Faust, Futurecop!, Diamond Cut and Edwin Van Cleef! This is one reMix competition you can be sure we’ll be keeping an eye on!

‘Cossus Snufsigalonia’ is still free! Amazing! grab it here.

Shook reMixes Fallulah

Fallulah

Break out the Moog Funk, Dutch smooth Disco king Shook has reMixed Danish Indie-Pop singer Fallulah’s ‘I Lay My Head’.

This is the perfect track to ease you into the weekend. That thick synth bass has got the Funk so hard that it would get your head nodding even if you were in a neck brace. Add to that some sweet Disco licks some 70’s roller-rink lead lines and you’ve got yourself a heady summertime jam that slides across the dancefloor.

Mayer Hawthorne covers Chromeo

chromeo

I’m never really sure what to make of bands putting cover versions of their own tracks by other bands on their releases. Did Kitsuné start it?

Here we have Mayer Hawthorne covering Chromeo and Solange Knowles’ ‘When The Night Falls’, taken from Chromeo’s ‘When The Night Falls Single’. Being Chromeo’s single it’s billed as written below, but surely that should be ‘Mayer Hawthorne – When The Night Falls (Chromeo Cover)’, no? Mayer Hawthorne being the artist. But I suppose that would screw up sales in iTunes or something. And as a blogger who am I writing about? Chromeo, or Mayer Hawthorne? Who get’s the picture and the purchase links? Today I’m going with Chromeo as it’s their single, but it does my head in.

Anyhoo, I’m sure you want to know about the music. Luckily after all that it’s pretty damn good. It is quite an achievement to take a Chromeo track and make it smoother, but Mayer Hawthorne manages it, bringing a laid back 70’s Funk to the track. Stick this track on and everything slips into slow motion/

Free Worship tune

In celebration of his newly released, and pretty amazing, On The Fruit Records EP ‘Out There’, Worship has dropped a free tune over on his SoundCloud.

‘Odyssey’ does exactly what it says on the tin. An epic, cosmic, synth Disco jam like an epic battle between squelchy synth slap bass and soaring leads. If all Sci-Fi films had Disco soundtracks this would be the reflecting-on-the-struggles-so-far-and-onward-to-the-final-conflict track.

Worship – Odyssey

Worship’s ‘Out There’ EP is out right now. That shit is highly recommended!
