Vince Fierro drops free EP

Vince Fierro

Riding on the success of the release of his début album, ‘Origins’, Californian Disco-House producer  Vince Fierro has dropped a free EP over on his SoundCloud.

Vince describes the  ‘Night All Day’ EP as his “first all-synth-and-vocal EP”. It contains four tracks of feel-good beach party Vocal Nu-Disco, leading with ‘You Stole The Light’, a sweeping slo-mo groove full of big retro synth sounds and gentle vocals that leads into the more pumping Prog House/Dreamwave crossover of ‘You Do What You Do’ and the French-Touch-esque call-to-dance of ‘Night All Day’. This is a top quality EP for retro synth heads and Prog House fans alike, and it costs no pounds, no pence (that’s no dollars, no cents for you Americans)!

Charleston

Charleston

Charleston are a London based three-peice who are drawing in a range of eclectic influences for their moody début single, released next month.

If ‘Peice By Peice’ is an introduction to Charleston’s sound, then they will definitely be a group to keep an ear on in the coming year. Initial comparisons, both musically and vocally, would be to Portishead, but there is something more contemporary going on here too. ‘Peice By Peice’ is a deep, soulful tune that has it’s roots in Trip-Hop but displays a more experimental attitude, even including elements of Dubstep and ChipTune in the mix to create something that, despite it’s low groove, is pretty majestic sounding. The smokey, sultry vocals don’t hurt either.

♫ Charleston – Piece By Piece

‘Piece By Piece’ is released 6th February via Good Bait.

The return of Lé Lé

le le

MC Faberyayo, Designer Piet Parra and on of our favourite electronic musicians Rimer London are back together as Lé Lé after a couple of years working on separate projects.

They’ve just dropped the first single from their forthcoming new album. It’s called ‘Neen’ and an infectious Dutch slice of bouncy bass. Both the bassline and the melody of ‘Neen’ will work their way into your brain until you’ll be humming them all day!

Goin’ Old School: Eleven Pond, A Guy Called Gerald & John Parr

You’ll have notice that there hasn’t been a Goin’ Old School for a few days, that’s ‘cos it’s going to be a weekly column now. Some weeks there will be loads of vids, some weeks there will be just the one, depends how we’re feeling…

The Minimal Synth crowd are crazy for Eleven Pond’s 1986 hit ‘Watching Trees’, they’re pretty Italo though

A Guy Called Gerald’s ‘Voodoo Ray’, one of the greatest dance records ever made. 1989.

John Parr‘s ‘Two Hearts’ from  1986. The one that isn’t from St. Elmo’s Fire. Check the awesome keytar solo!

Jupiter reMixes Blackjoy

blackjoy

Parisian ElectroPop duo Jupiter recently announced their intentions for 2012 including a new single and their début album, all to be preceded by a string of reMixes.

The first of which is this Poppy rework of Blackjoy’s 2008 Disco funker ‘Mercurian’ Jupiter have set themselves a high bar, which loads up the original with rounded synth bass and particularly French little riffs. This awesome chunk of synthesizer Disco bodes well for Jupiter’s 2012.

New EP from Pinemarten

pinemarten

Hot on the heels of his début album, ‘If You Thought There Was Any Doubt’, Derbyshire based producer Pinemarten has dropped another EP of mellow synth jams,

The ‘Here It Is’ EP contains three tracks of dreamlike electronic soundscapes and distant, hazy vocals. Pinemarten conjures up feelings of sunsets and lazy summer nights as he skilfully layers shimmering synths. Three prefect chilled tunes for the morning after.

She’s The Queen reMixed by Lightwaves

She's The Queen

Fresh from walking home with the big one at the electronic rumors awards ElectroPop duo She’s The Queen have dropped a brand new reMix of ‘The Way’ by  Lightwaves (Jan from Yes Giantess!).

Jan has taken the soulful Pop track and turned it into an Ibiza monster that would make Ministry Of Sound proud. Straight to the big room, the reMix balances Nu-Disco with a Balearic euphoria and some nice Electro inserts. Despite the vocal manipulation Lightwaves has managed to keep the feel of the track intact, but give it a new lease of superclub life. With the right push this tune could be storming the clubs this summer,
