CREEP reMixed by Modern Machines

CREEP

Lauren Flax and Lauren Dillard’s CREEP release their Holly Miranda featuring new single ‘Animals’ next week, including this big House reMix from Modern Machines.

Dragging the dark ambience of CREEP straight into the big room and mixing up Holly Miranda’s huge ghostly vocals with big beats and a House bassline. When the ‘90’s House piano kick in, it really isn’t something you’re expecting in a CREEP track but turns the post Industrial, post-Dubstep track into a big summer club track.

Coloureds reMix Yelle

coloureds yelle

GrandMarnier and tEPr should be worried, apparently they’ve been replaced in Yelle but Oxford’s Electro noise terrorists Coloureds. I don’t think anyone is going to make it out of this alive.

Blue and Yellow apply extra helping of chainsaw synths and machine gun percussion to the track that growls away in the background like an angry cyborg beast while Julie’s vocals carry on seemingly unaware of their fate. Once again Couloureds manage to sit in the middle of the ‘bastard hard Electro’ and ‘actually got a groove’ ven diagram as their track strides onto the dancefloor swinging it’s big metal balls.

‘Comme Un Enfant’ is taken from the ‘Safari Disco Club’ album, out now.

Mausi

Mausi

Mausi are a Newcastle based four peice who are about to release their début single. The Disco tinged IndiePop of ‘Sol.’.

The tracks been around for a while now but has just been picked up for release in February. It’s got a nice summery Pop feel that owes much to the likes of Passion Pit but with more of a beach party Disco vibe to it. It’s probably the most straight-up Indie thing we’ve featured in a while but they’ve got enough of a French Indie-Electro groove going on that some of you might be into it, we are.

Mausi – Sol.

‘Sol.’ is released 20th February.

Austra’s ‘Spellwork’ video

Here’s the long awaited video for Austra’s ‘Spellwork’.

I’m sure there’s probably something coherent going on in this Yelena Yemchuk directed clip, I think It’ll take a couple more watches to get though.

RAC reMix Depeche Mode

DepecheMode

OK, so,  Depeche Mode reMixes, particularly reMixes of ‘Enjoy The Silence’ are usually a sore point for us. ‘Silence’, as well as being one of the greatest songs ever written, is also one of the most reMixed and covered, and 99.9999% of the are shit. There’s barely a handful of reMixes of the track that are any good and only two covers that I can recall. So it’s actually high praise indeed when I say RAC’s rework of the tune doesn’t make me want to be violently ill.

RAC’s version has got a nice Disco groove going on. I’m not overly convinced by the horns but they do grow on you. With the synth bass and live feel to the drums they are on to a winner though. Is it better than the original? No, of course it isn’t. But it’s better than most reMixes out there.

Vince Fierro drops free EP

Vince Fierro

Riding on the success of the release of his début album, ‘Origins’, Californian Disco-House producer  Vince Fierro has dropped a free EP over on his SoundCloud.

Vince describes the  ‘Night All Day’ EP as his “first all-synth-and-vocal EP”. It contains four tracks of feel-good beach party Vocal Nu-Disco, leading with ‘You Stole The Light’, a sweeping slo-mo groove full of big retro synth sounds and gentle vocals that leads into the more pumping Prog House/Dreamwave crossover of ‘You Do What You Do’ and the French-Touch-esque call-to-dance of ‘Night All Day’. This is a top quality EP for retro synth heads and Prog House fans alike, and it costs no pounds, no pence (that’s no dollars, no cents for you Americans)!

Miami Horror reMixed by Lenno & Jesse Oliver

miami-horror

producer Lenno is fast becoming a name to watch with a string of amazing reMixes. This time he’s teamed up with Jesse Oliver to rework Miami Horror’s hit of last year, ‘Holidays’.

It’s a rapid fire bassline that keeps this tune pumping. Bright retro synths stab away at the tune but the machine bass never falters from it’s course and lends the tune a slight Italo flavour. Leno and Jesse Oliver have crafter a really nice Dreamwavey update to the song, keeping the Indie-Electro feel to the vocals but bringing them straight to an electronic dancefloor.

Lazercat’s new single

lazercat

Out soon on Spirit Soul Music is the new double A-side single from Lazercat.

The Berlin based producer two new tunes, ‘Lovestruck’ and ‘Heartbeat’ are prefect examples of Housey cosmic SynthWave. ‘Lovestruck’ has got a nice late ‘80’s House/Italo digital bassline going on, proving a solid backing for some floaty retro synths to play around over the top. the combination of deep groove, bright melodies and an uplifting progression make this a pretty addictive track. it’s flip side ‘Heartbeat’ is a chilled synth Funk workout led by a smooth electric piano line and synth solo that’s pure ‘80’s Disco. A great atmospheric track.

Charleston

Charleston

Charleston are a London based three-peice who are drawing in a range of eclectic influences for their moody début single, released next month.

If ‘Peice By Peice’ is an introduction to Charleston’s sound, then they will definitely be a group to keep an ear on in the coming year. Initial comparisons, both musically and vocally, would be to Portishead, but there is something more contemporary going on here too. ‘Peice By Peice’ is a deep, soulful tune that has it’s roots in Trip-Hop but displays a more experimental attitude, even including elements of Dubstep and ChipTune in the mix to create something that, despite it’s low groove, is pretty majestic sounding. The smokey, sultry vocals don’t hurt either.

♫ Charleston – Piece By Piece

‘Piece By Piece’ is released 6th February via Good Bait.
