[Download] Lovestarrs’ ‘Stupid Cupid’

Lovestarrs

It’s only been a matter of days since the amazing The Good Natured burst back into our lives, rebranded as Lovestarrs, with their début single, Get Your Sexy On. Now, in time for Valentine’s Day, they deliver this new song, for free no less, the fitting Stupid Cupid.

Yet another glimpse of what to expect from Lovestarrs in the future, this shimmering slice of 80s Pop come complete with a slap bass that would be right at home on Top Of The Pops that plays against big power ballad drums. The whole thing doesn’t sound trite though, it sounds like a festival grade Indie anthem; with Sarah’s vocals showing off that cutting, dark, wit that we love her for. SynthPop haven.

Lovestarrs’ Get Your Sexy On is released 31st March.

Here’s a sparking slice of French Pop courtesy of our favourite Parisians Jupiter. The DiscoPop duo have delivered this cover of Oh! J’Cours Tout Seul, a track from 1979 by French songwriter William Sheller. Jupiter obviously love the song, as this cover version is made with pure love, pure synthesizer love.

The bass warbles, the synths stab, and the vocals are eminently enjoyable whether you speak French or not. A rich vintage feel permeates every note of this track, Jupiter’s version of Oh! J’Cours Tout Seul just oozes a sexy cool. With a little Disco guitar in the background to give it a slinky groove, this is one hell of a retro electronic wonder.

The latest release from New Your Indie Disco label DFA comes in the form of the new single from their jack-of-all-trades The Juan MacLean. Get Down (With My Love) features vocals from Nancy Whang and drops on digital and one-sided vinyl next week. Prepare for some musical madness.

Get Down (With My Love) is a brutally bouncy, ecclectic Disco House track with heavy Italo overtones. The big synth bassline itself lends the track it’s particular swing. Quirky leads and syncopated keys swim over a tumbling House beat conjuring an energetic, frantic feel. Nancy’s vocals are just perfect amongst the chaotic Boogie making the track even more compelling. More genius work from The Juan Maclean.

Gotta Get It Goin is a monster House jam that powers along on the pairing of frantic bass and infections piano hooks. Riding over some pretty complex purcussion the who thing has a forward momentum that drops and builds in just the right places, when it kicks back in it’s pure energy. Expect to be hearing this quite a bit in the clubs over the coming months.

pat-lok

Canadian producer Pat Lok and Bear Mountain’s Same Hearts has been out just over a week now and in that week has been getting a fair amount of play ‘round these parts. It’s set to see even more spins now on the form of of the brand new reMix from our own Chilly Disco don Box Of Wolves, Stay tuned for more Box Of Wolves news and we announce his new single in the coming days.

In the meantime he’s whipped up a jackin’ House tune with this track. It’s got a nice retro swing to it courtesy of some thick synth stabs running throughout that give the vocals a buoyant quality. All this resides upon a deep bassline constructed from pulsating and echoing synths. It’s as atmospheric as it is dancefloor friendly. Perfect for that Deep House portion of the night. A true meeting of talents.

Tobtok

Young Swedish producer Tobtok’s has been cancer free for one year. Which is about as awesome news as you can get. Our lives have been touched by Cancer recently, and frankly, it’s a fucker; so we’re dead pleased for Tobtok. And what better way for the man to celebrate than with a brand new tune. Optimistic Topical vibes ensue.

And it is an optimistic tune. A full-on Island Disco belter without a care in the world. Layer up high with wicked Disco licks, lush synths and breezy guitar, Savanna eases you into it’s groove before hitting you with a big, uplifting horn section. This one brings together the vintage and modern in a track that will carry you away to warmer climates and summery good times. The hint of Toto-esque Africa vibe in the background is just the final sweetener that turns the track into a Disco masterwork.

[Download] Jordan F & Rromarin’s ‘Falling Like Diamonds’

Jordan f

Mr. Jordan F has been quite quiet for a while now, but the man; one of our favourite Australian producers, hasn’t been sitting on his hands. He;s been hard at work on a new EP that’s due out later this year. In advance of that release, he’s dropping a new single this week, Falling Like Diamonds, featuring the vocals of fellow Australian songstress Rromarin, of Melbourne’s Deja.

A sweeping synthesizer epic, Falling Like Diamonds. Although many of Jordan’s reMixes over the past couple of years have taken an experimental approach to electronic music, breaking the chains of his SynthWave roots, this new single is pure 80s bliss. Vintage drum machine dance beats, old school synths layered thick and that crystal clear production that Mr. F is so good at. Rromarin’s chilly vocals cut through the mix like a knife, her ethereal tones flowing through the track and adding depth to the sound. And exciting return to retro electro for Jordan F, and an exciting taste for his forthcoming Freefall EP.

[Download] Nude Disco’s ‘Neon Hearts’ (+ Jules Schimmer & Auxiliary Tha Masterfader reMixes)

nude-disco

Record label Nude Disco, spawned from the club night Nude Disco, are following their compilation Nude Disco selections Vol. 1, with their première single release; from Nude Disco. that’s a lot of nakedness right there. The single’s called Neon Hearts, and it features the vocal stylings of Foreign Boy and comes with a loaded reMix package including work from Luxar, Discomendments, Jules Schimmer and Auxiliary Tha Masterfader.

Neon Hearts is a lush, urban, slice of SynthPoppy Nu-Disco. Musically it’s a slightly Tropical four minutes of infectious synthesizer Disco. Peppered with Poppy riffs, the bass bounces, the leads get euphoric and the purcussion keeps things funky. The infectious dancefloor groove is all leading toward a sweeping solo. Foreign Boy’s vocal contribution is what gives it it;s SynthPop edge as he croons his was through the track in a neo-Pet Shop Boys style. Jules Schimmer adds a little 80s flair to the tune with a chugging bassline and Top Of The Pops beats before launching into a hands-in-the-air piano House riff, while Aux takes a future Italo approach to Neon Hearts, injecting burbling synths and his own analog Disco style. The whole release is an impressive début for the label.
