st-lucia_thumb_thumb

Here’s a meeting of two of Americas finest purveyors of blissful tunes. New Yorks hazy ElectroPop sensation, St. Lucia released one of the albums of the year in 2013, and on that album was a little track called All Eyes On You. A tack which looks set to be his next single if the looks of this brand new reMix from the-man-with-the-Dreamwave-plan Goldroom is to be believed.

There’s some devilish purcussion going on in this one. Goldroom tune just make you want to get up and dance (if it’s sunny, if it’s not the make you want to close your eyes and pretend you’re dancing in the sun), and that’s heightened with the drums on this reMix. Embracing St. Lucia’s dreamy ElectroPop sound, Goldroom delivers a floaty Beach House tune to get carried away in. We weren’t going to mention the Sax, we were going to just let you discover it. But the sax!

[Audio] Freak You reMixes From Kid’s ‘Sun’

from-kid_thumb

Yesterday we had Ride The Universes sweet reMix of From Kid’s new single, Sun, today we bring you Freak You’s take on the track. The reMix collection, Variations Of Sun, is out now on On The Fruit Records and also includes work from the likes of Lou Teti and PWNDTIAC. After showing the world his amazing new tune, There You Are (featuring Bright Light Bright Light) Freak You is on a roll right now, and this reMix shows there’s no stopping him.

While Ride The Universe brought dreamy LA Disco vibes to the track, Freak You heads straight to the dancefloor. This reMix is a driving floorfiller, sneaking in some House overtones to the track Freak You plays with purcussion and rhythm in unexpected ways but never looses the groove. As with all Freak You’s production, it delivers some interesting and intelligent elements and wraps them up in a lovely piano hook and an off-kilter synth riff in a track that just builds and builds.

[Audio] Walter Sobcek’s ‘No Blue Skies’

Walter Sobcek

New tracks from French duo Walter Sobcek are too few and far between, but always something special when they arrive. We’ve been following these guys since day one and reckon 2014 should be the year Walter Sobcek get the recognition the deserve. This new tune is a cover of Lloyd Cole’s No Blue Skies. slip into some comfortable Dreamwave vibes.

With a hefty dose of blissed out sounds, Walter Sobcek glide their way through the track. Coasting on sweet retro synths and a walking bassline. Swooshing chords pair with gentle plucked guitar to cosy up to some restrained vocals and a hint of vocoder in a track that curls out of the speakers like smoke. The guys arte in the process of finishing up their début album, which includes collaborations with the likes of Lifelike and Mereki, we can’t wait.

From Kid

The awesome foursome are back. Whilst they have boon holed away working on their début album, The LA/Germany pan-Atlantic Disco tribe Ride The Universe have also taken the time to reMix the current single, Sun,  from Indie-Electro duo From Kid. The reMix is taken from a new collection of versions Sun, out this week on On The Fruit Records, called Variations Of Sun.

Prepare yourself for some dreamy Disco vibes right here. Ride The Universe deliver one of their smoothest track to date with this chilled, hazy slab of beach Funk. From the tunes opening relaxed chords and echoing drums, you know you’re in for a blissed-out treat. With a steady, head nodding, bassline and loaded with sweeping synths, this reMix works the originals vocals in a way that completely sets it apart. where the original displayed an introspective Indie mood, Ride The Universe morph that into a soft spoken, romantic croon. [Audio] Lightwaves’ ‘Starting To Believe’

Lightwaves

It looks like one of our favourite producers, Lightwaves, is finally ready to hit the big time. Lightwaves music has come in dips over the past couple of years, including a reMix of She’s The Queen’s Talk To Me, electronic rumors first single release. The ex-Yes Giantess man Jan Rosenfeld is back, this time with a full band, has launched a brand new single, a new fuller ElectroPop sound, and what promised to be the start of a stratospheric career.

It;s really Jan’s vocals that push this over the edge from being infection, euphoric ElectroPop into the realms of true anthem. The meeting of huge, emotive, synth riffs, epic, impassioned vocals and a driving rhythm section make this one of those songs that delivers an emotional rush as well as making you want to get up out of your seat. American, post Indie-Electro, SynthPop at it’s finest.

[Audio] A charity X-Mas EP from the Electronic Rumors gang!

MULLET_CS

Hey readers. A couple of weeks ago my father passed away, you may have seen a lull in posts. When all was done and dusted I felt the need to do something, both to commemorate my Dad and to give a little to an organization that helps both sufferers and carers, especially at a time like Christmas. So X-Mas Rumors was born. Four artists from the label kindly gave me their time and talent (and hopefully had a little fun) cover four beloved Christmas tunes.

Soundtrack your Christmas party, and do a little good in the process, with this new EP loaded with electronic cover versions of classic Christmas songs. Four of electronic rumors’ finest artists have generously devoted their time to covering their favourite Christmas songs for X-Mas Rumors, and EP whose entire earnings with be going to the Alzheimer’s Society.

electronic rumors newcomer (and Vulture Music veteran) Kids At Midnight work some kind of silky magic on Wham!’s Last Christmas, while the 60’s classic Christmas (Baby Please Come Home) by Darlene Love gets an energetic retro ElectroPop re-envisioning by SynthWaver Let Em Riot. New York ElectroPoppers She’s The Queen deliver their upbeat take on Stevie Wonder’s classic What Christmas Means To Me and the EP plays out with electronic experimentalist beaumont intricate take on Little Drummer Boy.

The EP is being released with a ‘pay what you want’ price mark, with 100% of the revenue going to the Alzheimer’s Society we’re hoping people are full of Christmas cheer and give generously.

[Audio] B.G. Baarregaard’s ‘Give Your Heart To Me’

B.G. Baarregaard

The latest release on the consistently excellent Silhouette Music drops this week. It comes from Icelandic Disco producer B.G. Baarregaard who serves up a whole EP of Acid/Disco crossover tunes. As we’ve said a few times in recent months, the induction of screaming Acid lines into smooth Disco is something we very much enjoy, so this EP really does it for us.

The lead tune on the six track EP is Give Your Heart to Me which exemplifies the collection perfectly. One one level you’ve got a slick Disco number, complete with pumping beat, mood setting piano, slick Disco licks, a bassline that draws you in and big diva vocals reminiscent of 90s House hits. On top of which lives a burbling 303 pattern the runs through all the requite filter sweeps, taking the track from low grooves to squealing excitement. The combination is worked to it’s fullest by Baarregaard until the track peaks in a melting put of strings, synth stabs and 300 grooves. The whole EP is definitely worth your investigation.

[Audio] Cassian’s ‘The Ninth’

cassian

The king of the Sydney scene, Cassian, is back with a new release. The 8 Voices EP is out this week and we’ve already has a taste of what to expect from it. Our favourite track so far is the gloriously energetic and sun-kissed The Ninth. Pure summer dance grooves.

Leading with a deep and soulful bassline over a solid House beat, The Ninth builds itself in waves of lush synths and atmospheric vocal snatches. Skippy purcussion and as nod to Deep House keep the track dancefloor interesting while your head can be occupied by the onslaught of rich retro synths  in the tunes second half. Euphoric as hell.

[Audio] Fire Flowerz’s ‘Two Coffees’

fire-flowerz

Two Coffees is the new single from Italian high-octane Disco duo Fire Flowerz. Following their Overload EP from this summer, Two Coffees cracks on with the loud, ballsy, but ultimately funky-as-hell trajectory these guys are on, with the aim being squarely centred on the dancefloor.

This is what Fire Flowerz do best, full-on disco tunes filled to the top with big, abrasive snyth used in a funky way. Pounding, pounding beats, gritty chainsaw synths, heavily modulated collection of samples all designed to make the Disco bigger. And they’ve accomplished that mission as Two Coffees is truly Disco at it’s absolute largest.

[Audio] Zoot Woman’s ‘The Stars Are Bright’

Zoot Woman

Well this came out of nowhere! Renowned UK SynthPoppers, and one time band of Mr. Stuart Price, Zoot Woman unleashed a brand new single on an unexciting world this week. Taken from their long awaited, and mostly believed to be fictional, forthcoming new album Star Climbing it’s our first hint of what Adam and Johnny have been doing with their time away.

It’s very, very good. A SynthPop epic that flirts with an experimental attitude whist keeping things truly Pop based. The combination of sweet and catchy and abrasive has always worked well for Zoot Woman, and moreso here. The synths are dirty, grimy, and rough, but compelled to conform to a melodic Pop song. The beats relentless and pounding, but acting to drive the passionate vocal onward. There’s been a Zoot Woman shaped hole int he SynthPop world for a few years now, and this slice of noisy bliss will go some way to fill it.
