[Audio] Erasure’s ‘Make It Wonderful’ reMixed by Chad Valley

erasure

Last month we brought you the first of a stunning collection of reMixes of the new single from SynthPop legends Erasure Make It Wonderful. Bright Light Bright Light turned in his 90s House take on the tune, now it’s time to unveil Chillwave master Chad Valley’s enveloping re-working of Make it Wonderful. The single finally sees release at the end of the month.

As a warm blanket of synths, Chad Valley’s reMix delivers a warbling array of sparking sounds. Uplifting arpeggios and reverb washed drums curl around Andy Bell’s voice like smoke as it dips in and out to make space for spacious chiming leads. With enough of an 80s feel to seem fitting for an Erasure reMix, but not so much it dominates the sound of the track, Chad Valley had served up the perfect compliment to the more frantic versions of the track.

As with their first release, this EP is a multi-artist showcase that once again features the work of young Russian producer Deep Sound Express as he introduces us to another four minutes of Cosmic House intensity.

Mixing up a powerhouse of an Italo bassline with a smooth House beat; Deep Sound Express gradually build a compelling dancefloor groove before using this backing to unleash a torrent of swirling Chill sounds. With Balearic guitar and Cosmic synth in tow, Deep Sound Express bring both laid-back vibes and pounding, floorfilling, rhythms to one track. Did we mention that the bassline is utterly infectious?

[Audio] Klaxons’ ‘There Is No Other Time’

Klaxons

Last week saw the re-emergence of Nu-Rave icons Klaxons. After indulging their Rockier side in the past few years their new comeback single, There is No Other Time, produced by future House Superstars Gorgon City, see them delve back into the waters of electronic music and showing just as much love for 90s Dance classics as they did when the first erupted on the scene.

The first tracks to be taken from their forthcoming summer album, There Is No Other Time rides a pulsating bassline that drive the track ever forward. With hints here and there, in the piano line and the vocal mantra, of Dance music classics of the past There Is No Other Time serves up a selection of live synths and Indie euphoria. A surprisingly good hint of what’s to come on their James Murphy, Chemical Brothers’ Tom Rowlands, and Erol Alkan producer new record.

[Audio] Bronx’s ‘U&I’

Bronx

Mexican producer Bronx has delivered and absolute stormer of a track in the form of his new release for Nervous Records. A double A-side single, the tracks What You Want and U&I bring some Deep House vibes to his Disco sound and cement the mans reputation as one of the finest producers to emerge in the last twelve months. U&I is our pick of the single, pure club gold.

The track does occasionally serve up some Inner City style old school House vibes, but mainly the groove concentrates of a powerful Deep House tirade that is as funky as it is hypnotic. This one is unashamedly for the dancefloor, and nowhere else. But drop it on the dancefloor and you’ll have the crowd eating out of your hand. Thick bass, relentless beats, bouncing stabs and a low vocal to keep things soulful; this one has it all.

[Audio] Lovestarrs’ ‘Get Your Sexy On’

Lovestarrs

Rising from the ashes of the wonderful The Good Natured, whose long awaited début album was held hostage by their major label, comes Lovestarrs. Frankly, why their label dropped then and kept the album is beyond us, that record could have been huge, there’s no understanding some people, and some peoples taste. Maybe it didn’t fit in to their plans for this year’s ‘rock resurgence’? Ahahahahaha.

Get Your Sexy On, Lovestarrs’ première single will no doubt show them what they are missing. An Indie-Electro anthem that’s bigger than anything The Good Natured released. Taking queues from stadium ElectroPop, summer US Indie, even Acid House, the track is a bombastic, feel good, Pop epic with some big sing-a-long vocals from Sarah amidst a sea of burbling synths and subtle wall-of-sound guitars. the sound of the summer?

ScandiPop queen Annie has dropped a surprise new track in the form of the timely Russian Kiss. It’s more of Annie’s Acid tinged, Richard X produced, 90s Pop and is a collaboration with Norwegian artist Bjarne Melgaard.

The video, directed by Richard Kern, along with the song are Annie’s reaction to Russia’s current majorly bigoted anti-gay and blasphemy laws for the dark ages.

[Download] Allie X’s ‘Catch’

Allie X

We were debating whether to post this début tune from Canadian artist Allie X, it;s been pretty much all over the internet, the music blogosphere and the popular music press for the last week. Can we say anything more? Probably not, but the more we pondered whether to post the more we listened to it, and the more we listened to it, the more we came to terms with the fact that we couldn’t not post it. So here it is.

It’s called Catch, and it’s already seen Allie being compared to Chvrches. Whilst we really don;t see that comparison, that doesn’t stop it being amazing. It sounds like a hybrid of glossy American Pop and avant-guarde ElectroPop. It’s soulful, melancholically optimistic and loaded with twisted sounds. Amongst the growling synths and post R&B beats, Allie belts out one of the catchiest songs of the year so far. This is what happens when North Americans do UK style Alt-Pop properly. Exhilarating stuff.

[Audio] Mitch Murder’ ‘The Final Stretch’

Mitch Murder

OK. Fair enough. Time to face facts; we’re pretty much just a Mitch Murder fan blog these days. And seeing as how he’s been treating us to a new track about once a month we feel this is a win/win situation. We could listen to Mitch Murder tunes all day, and in fact, sometimes we do. Here’s the latest in his sonic arsenal, The Final Stretch.

Mitch is well back in Vine DiCola mode with this one, and you can’t help but grin when The Final Stretch is playing. It’s all digital stabs and squealing leads. A total energy build, a rush of frantic excitement; you can imagine the action sequence this would soundtrack. This is the score to an optimistic move, chock full of heroism and defeating the odds. How Mr. Murder constantly knocks the 80s soundtrack genre out of the park we’ll never know. We’re just glad he does.

[Audio] Chromeo & Toro Y Moi’s ‘Come Alive’ reMixed by Le Youth

chromeo

Chromeo and Toro Y Moi’s awesome new single Come Alive is barely out and the reMixes are starting to flood in. Luckily, at the forefront of the wave is LA Disco master Le Youth, himself gearing up for his new single release, Dance With Me. Expect big things when these two funky powerhouses meet.

Le Youth takes the track in a frantic old school House direction, with a hint of his Disco roots. This ones a peak time crate filler to whip the crown into a frenzy. Cut-up vocals form the original are liberally unleashed on rough synths and an infectious piano hook, which the whole combination riding over a classic 90s House beat, shuffling hi-hats and all. The reMix builds and builds, creating a hyper energy until the squelchy solo finale.

[Audio] €urocrats’ ‘Black Hole Bass’

urocrats_thumb

Deep warehouse vibes right here from the new single from AeroPop supergroup €urocrats, a collaboration between Vito Aeroplane and Dimitri From Paris. Getting twisted and dark, as opposed to their more Boogie laden previous single Follow Me, this single comes in two flavours, 606 and 909, and we bet you can imagine what to expect from either.

Whilst the 909 version is pure Acid tinged Chicago House madness, it;s the 606 version that caught or eye. Stripped of the occasionally harsh 909 beats, this version relies on a more synthetic feel courtesy of the 606 purcussion. Coupled with pulsating vintage synths and a voice of doom, this one is a hypnotic, Acid fuelled, jam for dark backrooms and seedy after-parties. Retro floorfilling goodness.
