[Audio] Flemming Dalum reMixes Decadance Vs. Italoconnection

Disco Modernism records have got something a bit special lined up for their next release. Italo pioneers Rago and Farina are set to, once again, unleash their classic Decadance track On And On (Fears Keep On). Originally released in 1983, the track has achieved near-legendary status amongst Italo fans. here it is presented re-produced for 2013 with Italoconnection and a little additional vocals from Vik. Featuring on the release is a fresh remix from none other than the King Of The Cut, Flemming Dalum.

Flemming delivers a absolutely blinding reMix here. Thick with pulsating synths, Flemming’s reMix is a Sci-Fi epic. The original stood it’s ground as early 80s futurism, and this reMix delivers the same attitude. The bassline alone is so full and deep that you’re looking over your shoulder, half expecting our robot overlords to be arriving. Add to this the growling vocoder work and that amazing arpeggio progression from the original and you’ve got yourself the soundtrack to a rainy near-future dystopia and a track that compels you to hit your local Italo dancefloor.

[Video] Vanbot’s ‘Hold This Moment’

Here is the brand new video from our girl Vanbot for her forthcoming single Hold This Moment. We’ve been waiting for new Vanbot material for a while now and Hold This Moment doesn’t disappoint. It’s big, chilly, ScandiPop with tons of heart. Beautiful, melodic, SynthPop.

The video is the slickest clip Vanbot had done to date. It’s very Scandinavian, full of stark monochromes and tundra, but has an amazing personality too. This has made out day.

[Audio] Miami Nights 1984 reMixes Sally Shapiro

Sally Shapiro’s, Electric Youth featuring, Starman is officially released today. Ever since we wrote about the track earlier this month we’ve been pretty excited about the release coming out, not least because it is backed with this track. A reMix from electronic rumors favourite and one of the leading lights of the SynthWave scene, Miami Nights 1984.

Sally Shapiro’s swirling, 60s inspired, cute ElectroPop and MN84’s driving Outrun and retro leads, how will that sound? As it turns out, amazing. Kicking things off with an Italo bassline and heavy, heavy, drums, MN84 creates a moody synthetic groove as we enter the song, but it’s the choruses where MN84 really let’s himself go. Taking advantage of the big vocals MN84 revels in the drama and throws all manner of big synth lines at the listener, and suddenly, Sally Shapiro is performing on Top Of The Pops circa the mid-80s. the other highlight of the tune, is MN84 introducing the SynthWave build, combine a big build with SynthWave soloing and something truly magical happens. just Listen.

[Audio] Satin Jackets & Eric Cozier’s new single

Germany’s king of laid back boogie Satin Jackets drops a brand new single next month. It’s another team up with his go-to guy for vocals, Eric Cozier, and this one injects a little classic SynthPop into their usual beach Disco world.

We say that because at times, amidst the bouncing Disco bass and shuffled beat, Boys & Girls occasionally feels a little bit Pet Shop Boys to our ears. Maybe it’s Cozier’s deadpan, nostalgic, vocal delivery or the Housieness to the rhythm, but there’s a definite air of mid-80s Pop to the track. Boys & Girls also doubles up on smooth grooves with the most relaxed of vintage Disco sounds, providing a little optimism to go with Cozier’s urban hymn. An awesome slice of dream Disco.

[Audio] Homework’s ‘The Edge Of Control Was Black’

It seems like Scotland is getting all the UK ElectroPop action right now. The next act that looks set for their fair share of media attention, after Glasgow’s Chvrches, appears to be Homework, who hail from Edinburgh. I smell an Electro city-based rivalry afoot. These guys are gearing up for the release of their début album, 13 Towers. Here’s the first track.

The Edge Of Control Was Black is something a bit different. Whilst it’s roots are definitely in ElectroPop and Minimal Synth, it;s essentially a rock song, made with Synths. A swirling cacophony of beautiful electronics set to a pile-driver Industrial beat. It’s exciting stuff, a melodic noise that is just the right kind of avant-garde that will appeal to those who like their music a little more ecclectic, but not so dark and grinding that it would stop them achieving mainstream attention. The cosmic garage band of the synth world, we’ll definitely be keeping an eye on Homework.

[Video] Dust’s ‘Past Future’

Dust are a pretty fantastic Nu-Italo/Avant Pop trio from Brooklyn who have just released their new 12”. A three track affair that leads with the amazingly haunting and infectious shrill Disco assault Past Future.

Check the video, directed by video manger Luke Wyatt, who’s slightly eerie retro visually capture the song perfectly.

[Audio] MNDR reMixed by Robotaki

Oh, go on then, we’ll have one more reMix of MNDR’s Feed Me Diamonds. Partly because we’re big MNDR fans, partly because we’re also pretty fond on Canadian groover Robotaki. But mostly because Robotaki has done a sterling job here, the best Disco version we’ve heard.

Robotaki has got a perfect grasp of Amanda’s vocals, and the rhythm of the song, as he completely retextualises her voice but allows it to keep it’s own intention. The vocals become a big sweeping Disco top line when presented with Robotaki’s 70’s synth disco. Expect loads of rapid percussion on ringing bells. The best way to describe it is to quote Robotaki: “Totally watched an old kung-fu flicks while this was being made.” There you go.

[Audio] Moonlight Matters reMixes Owlle

Moonlight Matters really kicked things up a notch last year, delivering so many tunes and reMixes, that were so good, he shot from being an artist we quite liked, to one of our favourite producers. Of course his début solo release, Come For Me, helped a lot. So we are pretty excited to see how he;s going to kick off 2013, and here it is. It’s a reMix for French Chillwavey singer Owlle.

Bringing his unique combination of early 90s House-Pop and mid 80s SynthPop to whatever he does, Seba always creates something both dancefloor friendly and majestically dramatic. This reMix of Disorder is no exception. The vocals are pretty epic to begin with, but the Moonlight Matters treatment the whole affair becomes a lush, electronic, opus of pulsating synth bass, swirling tones and ringing leads. the result is both beautiful and compellingly funky. Can;t wait for Moonlight Matters’ new single.

We posted Aussie Indie-ElectroPoppers Strange Talk’s new single Falling In Love back in November last year. it;s a cool track indeed, but it’s only just getting a video, which seems like a promotional missed boat, but there we are.

The clip is directed by Costa Vakas and sees Strange Talk raving their asses off basically. which, if you know the track, you’ll probably agree works pretty well.

[MP3] Chordashian’s ‘Cold Nights’

Brooklyn funketeers Chordashian are getting into a House groove with their new tune, Cold Nights. In their own words the track is “Built to keep you warm”, and in these chilly months it does exactly that. A lush, warm House tune to wrap yourself in like a warm blanket.

Cold Nights delivers a pure nostalgic House experience, and that’s where the warmth comes from. It’s like a mixture of early an 90s Chicago warehouse track with bits of mid 90’s Orbital, all funky and familiar. Of course, Chordashian make the sound their own with some burning disco synth riffs that inject the track with a little gritty euphoria. Feeling warmer already.
