It’s been a long time since we heard an original tune from Germany’s finest digitalfoxglove. Mostly, the man has had his attention focused on his work as part of Dreamwave superheroes Ride The Universe, but he still gets the occasional moment to get his solo groove on. He’s gearing up to release a new EP under the digitalfoxglove moniker and last night he dropped our first taste of what’s to come, Daytona.
Daytona is surprisingly SynthWave for producer with some of the slickest Nu-Disco skills on the planet. With not a Disco lick in sight, digitalfoxglove stands shoulder to shoulder with the likes of Mitch Murder and Miami Nights 1984 as he delivers a blistering Outrun tune, a frantic synthesizer speedway loaded with rolling arpeggios and soaring leads. digitalfoxglove takes his pin-sharp production and applies it to the euphoric, emotional rush of a cracking SynthWave tune to soundtrack all your clichéd night drives.

We don’t mean to repeat ourselves (actually, what are we talking about, of course we repeat ourselves, we must have a keyboard shortcut for typing the word ‘groove’!) but as we mentioned a couple of weeks ago Greek SpacePoppers Keep Shelly In Athens are soon to release their long awaited début album, via those lovely folk at Cascine. The albums called At Home, and this is our second taste of what’s to come, Oostende.
It’s a lovely tune, not least because the title begins with two ‘o’s (always a winner) or that it appears to be named after the Belgian post town us Brits ferry to if we can’t afford France (or are headed to Amsterdam). No, it’s lovely because it’s a swirling blanket of shimmering synths with which to soothe your head. As Sarah P.’s vocals cut through the icy warmth of contradictory soundscapes you’re taken down magic music corridors and you’ve just got to hope Keep Shelly In Athens know where they are going. Also, it’s quite a good Chillwavey ElectroPop tune too!

Pacific was LA Dreamwave OG Goldroom’s contribution to Scion Audio/Visual, Sharkwaves Vol. 2 back in November last year. A Vangelis-esque beach oddessy that has now been captured in video form.
The video does what it says on the tin, there’s lots of the Pacific involved. Beautifully shot and edited, it’s the perfect, relaxing, accompaniment to the tune.

Affection is the title of the new EP from London based House producer Meloder. Released this week on Pole Position Recordings, this is the second EP from this guy who’s making quite a name for himself on the London club scene. His roots in the deeper and darker side of House music sine though on this strangely compelling release.
Affection boasts seven tracks, which is pretty generous for an EP and verging on mini-album territory. Save for one self-reMix the are all original tunes that kick off in fine style with the bombastic Citadel. Citadel really draws you into the EP, at nearly eight minutes it’s an enigmatic, House oddessy, and so so deep, but with a deepness that never forgets the dancefloor with punchy bass and relentless beats. Get Tight drags you even deeper and even has some Hard Trance overtones to it. And so the EP continues, drawing you closer and closer to it’s dark heart, as the haunting and robotic title tracks woozy mood is broken by the uplifting respite of No Time, an amazing warehouse jam. The spacy SynthPop style of Night & Day follows before the EP plays out on the squelchy bassline of Feeling Me. IT;s an exciting release whether you’re into Deep House or just a love of synthesizer music. You should check it out.

Why not kick off your week, or at least the bit of the week that starts once you’ve truly gotten over the weekend, with this luxurious slow Disco jam from LA duo LBCK. It feels like forever since we’ve heard from these two, a year or two ago these guys we’re releasing some seriously good material, then all went a bit quite. Call My Name give us the hint that they’ve lost none of their flair for slick Nu-Disco grooves.
Call My Name is actually the first taste we get of LBCK’s forthcoming full length album. Titled The Goods the record is released later this month and if it’s all like Call My Name, we’re in for a treat. Verging on the Dubby, this is a laid back, sunshine Nu-Disco tune with the tempo reined in and the funk turned all the way up. Still displaying a warped synth sounds and hypnotic hooks of their speedier material, Call My Name uses the twisting sounds in a different way. Like a warm blanket of smooth tones, Call My Name is perfect late-night Disco.

Well, this is a pleasant surprise for the start of the week. Glaswegian ElectroPop heroes Chvrches second single, The Mother We Share, from way back in September 2012, and one of their best tunes to date, has suddenly got a music video.
We also think that this is our favourite video of their to date too.

Here’s the first single from the new record from JD Samson & MEN. It’s been a couple of years since the ex-Le Tigre Samson’s MEN’s last album, Talk About Body, and we weren’t even sure if a new album was coming, so we’re pretty pleased about this announcement and this first tune, All The Way Thru, promises good things.
Co-produced with Yuksek (he gets everywhere these days, doesn’t he?), All The Way Thru is a lot slicker that we’ve previously heard from MEN. A more polished affair, it’s a slick mixture of Deep House, Progressive House and ElectroPop, with a bit of an Indie-Electro edge to it. What all that means is woody basslines, big synth sweeps and some really nice, heartfelt vocals. The single comes equipped with a Pop mix (!) and three other reMixes.
